- Join us for our first segment of our return to our Great Loop! We leave Charleston, enjoy some lovely anchorages, have a super scary night in Georgetown that has us questioning if cruising is for us.. and then have an amazing side trip up the Wackamaw River to Conway.

We're Cherie & Chris and we've been full time technomads since 2006. We are owned by Kiki (meow).
We have a fleet of nomadic vessels that we split our time between - a 1961 GM 4106 vintage bus, a 1999 Bayliner 4788 motor yacht and a 2020.5 Travato GL van conversion. You'll find RV, van and boat life content here, as we feel inspired to share - sometimes topical, sometimes travelogues, sometimes just hanging out.
We love sharing a slice of our life with others, and also blog at www.technomadia.com, Facebook and Instagram. We use the name 'Technomadia' in all those places. Come join the adventure however you choose!
Income generation is NOT a goal of ours under the 'Technomadia' brand - we do this for fun.
Our full time 'job' is running the Mobile Internet Resource Center, where we track and educate RVers and cruisers on their options for keeping connected. Come join us at www.RVMobileInternet.com for news, guides, reviews and courses. We also have a dedicated UA-cam channel / mobileinternetresource... you can subscribe to. Through member funding, we can give away a lot of free content - and our members get even more.

Thanks so much for sharing more of your journey. I still wear my 'Y Not' shirt from way back in the patreon days. Really enjoy you both and appreciate you sharing your experiences. Cheers.
Great to see you two back on Y-Knot!!!! My wife and I started watching you way back when you were still looking for a boat.
Thanks for being along for the ride!
Hi Cherie & Chris! Your adventure looks like a lot of fun, thanks for sharing. We hope you both are doing great!
You both look and sound SO HAPPY!!! It's great to see the adventures, including the gremlin shenanigans!! 😃🙄
The gremlins just add to the adventures.. but wouldn't mind them taking a vacation :)
Good to see you out again on YNOT. Always enjoy your videos. Been watching for years now. safe travels.
Thanks for continuing to be along for the journey!
If you don’t want to quit and stuff it all at least once on an adventure, you’re playing it too safe! Love you guys! You look great!
So true!
Love it, thanks for sharing
In spite of the challenges, your enthusiasm shone through it all.
Yes I do enjoy following your boating adventures. Keep the good stuff coming guys.
Your demonstrater Bob made me giggle! Been keeping track of your journey on FB. Looks like you guys are really enjoying yourselves! Safe travels!😊
Always enjoy watching your adventures! See ya on the next one. Safe travels!
Love y’all’s journey.
Conway is a great side trip. Good for you!
So totally worth the while! We hope more explore it.
Awesome.
Loving every minute of your adventure.
Glad to have you virtually aboard!
You missed the best tourist attraction in Conway. A youtuber by the name of WingsofRedemption lives there aka Jordie Jordan.
Just found your channel and subscribed. Been following loopers lately with the hopes that things may line up and afford me the opportunity to pursue this in the not too distant future.
That being said, one question if I may since you're "back on the loop" yourselves? We're in mid July now. Are your plans to try and make the turn south past the Great Lakes before the colder months set in? If so, do you feel any time constraints or pressure to get underway and make that turn to the south?
We are 'Sloopers' (slow loopers) and doing this over many years - check our last video where we answered all of those questions: ua-cam.com/video/hv-y9TUrJIw/v-deo.html
Sorry but anyone that lives on the coast kows about the "quiting time" thunderstorms.. 4-5 ocllock everyday there is a good chance of sprinkles to the level you saw. :)
We are very used to and familiar with typical afternoon thunderstorms - they are a great way to cool off.
This was a lot more than that. 🤪
Do I need to send you some sticky pads to catch that gremlin? ;-)
Ooo.. if you have one to spare... :D
Did you replace the radar?
I am very tempted to switch from Garmin to Furuno radar, but for now that project is on the defer list. We tend to avoid conditions where radar is needed.
I wasnt here for the boat selection. What kind of boat did you finally choose?
Y-Not is a Bayliner 4788 - here's a bunch more info: www.technomadia.com/y-not
@@Technomadia loved the video. Chris, are you an electrical engineer?
@@Technomadia and, what is Technomadia?
I actually got my degrees in Computer Science and Computer Engineering, and was a few credits away from tacking on a third degree in Electrical Engineering.
Technomadia is the blog name we came up with 18 years ago when we hit the road. “Tales From Technomadia” since we were technomadically traveling.
I have relatives in New Bern......hmmmm
Like all Equipment...bottom line is "use it or lose it" When it sits without exercise it atrophy's. Just like the human body...you have been neglecting your boat and it's paying you back!
Give your boat some loving care, spend time on her....Don't let her become a "Hanger Queen"...lol
We have in no way neglected our boat. She has had regular service, updates and upgrades .. and cruising adventures. While we were based in Sanford for a few years - we were not idle. Including several short monthly cruises and multiple extended cruises.
None of the gremlins mentioned are from 'neglect'.
The steering pump.. was 25 years old. They are a wear and tear item, and ours was also in regular use (our lower actually failed during our sea trial).
The radar? No idea what happened there - but certainly not paying Garmin $1200 to find out. It is only 7 years old, and we also regularly use it to track storms (which Florida has many of.)
Oh. and it's 'dock queen', not 'hanger queen'.
