    Hi, I've watched you for about a year now. I moved to Moonbeam a year and a half ago and last year all I did was pick up rocks and go research what I had. I got a tumbler and a pick axe. I also bought a tile saw. Its not that great though on my budget but I tried. I want to slice the agates and jasper. The calcedony are beautiful. It is so mineral rich here, I can't even begin to show you what I've got. You've been helpful! Thanks for your videos. Now I want to pan. I found a stream and a pushed up part of the mantle. Its like a little cavern covered by brush. So cool.

    I've used this to try and locate some old mines with 0 success so far. Where I've gone looking isn't where the old mine is showing it to be - Mostly old Gold mines. I'm out with the North Bay Rock club Sunday and that mine IS showing at the right spot, so I know some of these are correct.

    • @meMiner
      @meMiner  4 роки тому +1

      I have met a number of people from that club. All good folks.
      I have found that the fall is the best time to look for remote mines, when then leaves are off the trees. Sometimes in the summer, you can be 30 yards from a site and not know it is there. The big problem with GPS coordinates is they are only as good as the person who input them.

    Watching this in 2021, is there a way to know if you can go to the abandonned place? are there restriction normally to visit these places?

    • @meMiner
      @meMiner  3 роки тому +1

      You need permission in parks, private land, native land, etc. If it is crown land, then make sure there isn't a mineral claim. You can visit and look around on a mineral claim but not take any of the minerals. If the site is a active mine, they can generally keep you out of where they are working for safety reasons. None of this is legal advice and just a summary of my understanding. ;-)

      I was looking at what CPO (Cobalt Power Group) has acquired in the area, they are going after Cobalt. Just wondered if you had some more insight on the area's they are in. You seem to be looking into all the numbers from previous mines, thought you might have an idea which area looks most promising

    • @meMiner
      @meMiner  6 років тому

      I met a lady last year, at one of their sites, who said she was a geologist. My first impression was positive. It would give me confidence if she is representative of their consultants/employees. Other than that, I am not a good person to ask about investing in the area or the companies. I personally won't risk a dime. I have been wrong before, but I also have not lost anything on a "good story". My worry would be the restrictive Ontario mining laws, expensive site reclamation and the hazards extracting cobalt from the Cobalt Ontario rocks. Again, I am not a good resource for an accurate analysis. For sure there is still good mineralization in the area (especially cobalt and silver), but I am not confident that it can be processed profitably at this time. As such, I don't think there will actually be a mine.
