Nope, exactly the same front and back- just picture and signature cards

I have a question. Can I use those cards with just the core game or the expansion cards are needed?

You can. They are alternate investigator cards. If you happen to have the original version of the investigator, you could use the two new cards in tandem or just either set. At the time of filming, some of the investigators haven’t even had their original version released yet, so that was the only version of that investigator, but you could still use it using the alternate cards

Dust Memory you’re right- for a moment I thought foolishness said he can take damage/horror as if he was Carolyn, but it says he can be healed as if he was Carolyn.
Thought it would’ve been a nice way to avoid direct damage, but I was wrong
