- During the Labor holiday in China i was lucky enough to visit Zhangjiajie, in Hunan province.
Zhangjiajie is known partly for being the scene of one of the most famous movies in the world, Avatar. Yet, it's so much more than that. It's a beautiful UNESCO world heritage site, revered and treasured by so many. Find out why in this video.
This is episode 2 of a 3 part series exploring the area, otherwise known as the Avatar mountains.

Wulingyuan (Chinese: 武陵源) is a scenic and historical site in the Wulingyuan District of South Central China's Hunan Province. It was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1992. It is noted for more than 3,000 quartzite sandstone pillars and peaks across most of the site, many over 200 metres (660 ft) in height, along with many ravines and gorges with picturesque streams, pools, lakes, rivers, and waterfalls. It features 40 caves, many with large calcite deposits and a natural bridge named Tianqiashengkong (meaning 'bridge across the sky'), which is one of the highest natural bridges in the world. The site also provides habitat for many vulnerable species, including the dhole, Asiatic black bear, and Chinese water deer.
The site is situated in Zhangjiajie City and lies about 270 kilometres (170 mi) to the northwest of Changsha, the capital of Hunan Province. The park covers an area of 690 square kilometers (266 square miles). Wulingyuan forms part of the Wuling Mountain Range. The scenic area consists of four national parks, which are the Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, Suoxi Valley Nature Reserve, Tianzi Mountain Nature Reserve, and the recently added Yangjiajie Scenic Area. Overall there are over 560 attraction sights to view.

Absolutely fantastic
There are so many beautiful scenery in China that you can't see it all your life.❤
So many!
It is so pretty there! It looks more built up than when we went in 2016.
It’s sensational! Doesn’t feel quite real being there
Nice video and beatiful scenery! Stunning indeed, especially at the end of this video.
Thanks!!
China's avatar mountain looks beautiful Harvey.
Awesome!!! 👍👍👍Definitely want to visit this place one day. Thank you for sharing. ❤❤❤
You should! you're welcome ❤️
Great video Harvey! I went there a few years ago! You make me wanna go again! 🎉
Thanks Ale! Yeah, go again! Definitely worth visiting twice haha 🙌
Great video Harvey, and the music you chose is perfect. Really takes me back to our visit to Zhangjiajie. Looking forward to seeing how you like Tianmen mountain. We also did that one and climbed every one of the stairs there. Also the glass walkway which I videod and uploaded to my YT channel.
Thanks!!! Tianmen mountain was the best bit… I can’t wait to upload the final episode of the Zhangjiajie series!!!
Very beautiful scenery but the Hallelujah Avatar Mountain wasn't flying 😂 The Natural Bridge was so awesome 👍
Impressive scenery. Loving this Zhangjiajie series. My question to everyone is, is there anywhere in the world that has better geography and scenery than the country of China? These karst, quartz and sandstone pillars are unlike anything existing anywhere else on this planet.
🏆 China number 1, again.
China will never be number 1 🤣 They're not even number 1 in their own backyard, they're getting bullied by the country of Taiwan 🤣 FREE TAIWAN
It's definitely very unique. China's landscapes are incredible, like they belong on another planet.
Free the province of Taiwan from meddling Americans, yes
5:10 , that's breathtaking! Can't wait to see your next episode!
Thanks Ray!! Have you been to Zhangjiajie?
@@Harveyinchina No, never....but definitely added it to my bucketlist!
Hope you can visit one day 🙌🙌
@@Harveyinchina Thanks bro, yeah, surely I will! Enjoy your time exploring China!

"Do not mess with the wild monkeys !"🐒🐒🐒...LoL 🤣🤣🤣
They can be incredibly vicious hahaha
Very Nice!!
Thanks! Would you go here?
A speedy lift up a mountain is just one of the many achievements that shows us Chinese engineering is ahead of the rest of the world
That’s right
I often see you comment on videos about China
Hi there. nice shot. How long did it take from Bailong elevator to Tianzi cable car? thanks
There must be few people on a mountain to be immortal
Can you believe how empty it was?! I thought it would be MUCH busier than this...
Which date did you go? haha, I am planning my trip next time. Thank you
@@100-q8v I went on the labor day holiday in China, so around the 28/29th May
@@Harveyinchina Haha, Did you mean 28/29th April? You are fortunate to visit such a famous tourist spot during peak season without crowds.
Yeah, April sorry 😂! I know, super super lucky!!
Hi, may i know if avatar mountain is the same one with mihuantai or is it different ?
@@oyotlisa4713 what’s mihuantai
Greatest China
May I know what time of the year have you been there?
@@levanymalka hello! I have been twice, both times around June
@@Harveyinchina thx. Great video 😊
Not the best scenery. There are multiple other places in Asia alone that are better. Japan for example.
Taiwan has better scenery too, and is more developed
I can't compare Japan, as I've not visited yet. But I can say that this scenery is some of the most incredible on the planet. Plus, China has the most UNESCO world heritage sites out of any country on earth... Including Japan.
I haven't visited Taiwan either, but I doubt it is more developed. Taiwan is a province of China. Reunification is just a matter of time.
@ Don Trump Sour grapes! Go back to your well, Taiwan Frog.
