Thank you thank you! I feed my dogs and cats natural balance. I feel guilty doing so because these aren't in the big 4. But due to varying sensitivities this is one of the few foods They do well on. I feel so relieved! Can't wait to see the dog food review! Again thank you!

Glad this brand is getting attention. It was really annoying to find a company which doesn't jump on fads and trends when you have pets with sensitivities and allergies.
Natural Balance is one of the few good ones
Canadian Naturals is another one I recommend to pet parents if they have fuussy eaters who go on hunger strikes if a company changes the ingredients. We used to have a Shiba Inu which gets grumpy if the formula or recipe changed for some reason. No health problem. Just irritating the dog could sense changes in the diet.

I'm disappointed that the nutritionists did not include antioxidants in the clinically effective range.
That seems to be a trend, list them on the GA banking that no consumers know what actually is needed to be effective
I should do a dedicated video on vitamin E so the nutrition nation can call out companies being wimpy. Maybe in the next few weeks
@@AnimalDocRea AAFCO recommends 30 IU of vitamin E a day. SACN says >500 IU/kg. When I want IUs, they list milligrams. When I want mg, they list quarks per mega-qualms. No one wants anyone to know what people and pets are really eating!

Thanks Dr Rea for this analysis! It's good to know that there is a good option out there other than Science Diet! Could you tell me how I can get the "nutrient requirements" charts that you compare the food with? I downloaded the "Small Animal Clinical Nutrition Text" but somehow I coudn't find the charts for dogs and cats. Thank you! 😻🐶

Yeah, one of my friends' Shar Pei cannot have meat, so Natural Balance is one of the few companies whicjj make good dog food are the time when grain-free fad was in full tilt. So, not surprised they make good cat food as well

It’s Caturday now. Great video. I am running out of superlatives to describe you! Not only does this appear to be a good food, yes I am complimenting a dry food. (Don’t tell Glenn, LOL) I might try the duck recipe for Colbie and Panda. $4.30 a pound for the 10 lb. bag is better than inferior products. I need something that does not make a mess so my six year old granddaughter can feed the cats, or give as a treat, when she wants.

At the pet store today I was handed a sample of California Dog Kitchen chicken and rice food. When I got home I looked it up and found that it is way too high in calcium/phosphorus but that is all I could tell from the website. It doesn't say how they came up with the recipes other than from "vet nutritionists" and I don't see an AAFCO statement. Can anyone just decide to make dog food and sell it without regulation? I sure have learned a lot from your videos!
I’ll be happy to look into it for you. I’m so proud of you for questioning and using your brain. It may be a fine food…but we need to look and the minerals being off is a concern. I just am so proud! 🥹
@@AnimalDocRea There isn't much information on their website, other than the high levels of calcium and phosphorus. It says, "With a guidance from vet nutritionists, we perfected our recipes." It also says, "100% Human Grade" and for all life stages. I have a feeling it isn't going to get a high score.
