California Guardianship Basics

This training will provide basic information about probate guardianships for minor children. We will cover the court forms to initiate guardianship, general information about court procedures, and the duties and responsibilities of probate guardians. Note: This training focuses on guardianship of the person (child's custody), and not on guardianship of the estate (child's property).
About the presenter: Aeyoung Kim is a staff attorney at HERA providing estate planning services and probate guidance through individual legal services and counseling, workshops for the public, and training for attorneys.
Before becoming an attorney, Aeyoung Kim worked for 12 years in the Superior Court of San Diego County, primarily in the Probate Division as a Probate Examiner. She is currently in charge of HERA's guardianship clinic at the San Joaquin Superior Court and the San Mateo Superior Court. She also served as a volunteer lawyer at Legal Access Alameda's guardianship clinic in 2018 and 2019.
