Looks great. The original delicate screens are bound to get damaged and a pain to keep clean.
That little GPS speaker is there to continue giving you voice directions if you were to switch back into iDrive.

If you need to have it plugged into that AUX port then it might be worth it to just pull the AUX port out and just keep it hidden under the center console trim.
The speaker is so you can still hear the GPS guidance if you switch from the Android system back to BMW's system

Nice video but as an owner of an f30 I like the Oem nbt ones much better
One thing to remember is that even though your car/truck may have the "Premium" sound system which says Harmon Kardin or Bose etc. the speakers are the cheapest pieces of crap in the sound system. Do your selves a favour & replace the speakers for a good quality set & release the sounds that your vehicle was meant to have.
I swapped my OEM Toyota speakers for some Focal Flax Evo with a Focal iBUS 2.1 under seat sub. The car sounds a million times better than OEM.

Just did the install today and your video was super helpful thanks for the guidance and advice. Can you tell me where you fixed the resolution to get the OEM screens and menus. I tried for a while but could not make it work or find the right setting.

the video title says ( E90, E46, F30) but all I see is a F30.
in the case of a F30, the screen is rather easily removed and replaced - it sits on top.
For a E90, it depends on the accessority level - the E90 series were available with no display at all, or a small (about 7 inch) or a big (about 10 inch) one. That display is completely integrated into the dashboard, and it extremely well readable even in summer bright sunshine due it being an LCD screen.
So to bring that functionality in, there is no screen needed, "just" an additional box which sits inbetween the screen and the main unit. I've seen such devices like nifty city. But not sure if they're controllable with the idrive controller.
Additionally, with the E90, most have a Bluetooth intercom system already, so very interesting if that still works - since it uses the cars microphone it'll be the best option.
The unit has a micro-SIM card slot - but I suppose, this isn't needed, because it uses the phones data connection?
So... are there coming additional videos for E90 types (and E46?) or.. that's it?

Hey bro need help, what if my cars original systems’ aux, Bluetooth usb doesn’t work, how would I still get audio with this unit for my 2013 328i
Can you get the new style 10.25" display for E90 with idrive? They make a 10 and a 12 that both sit right in the front of the idrive opening, and not way deep in the hole like the stock unit.

CIC is far superior to android units and CCC but not a lot of people want to pay for a CIC retrofit when it’s still old technology that is costly. And if anything, F10 has the best idrive design because it’s not deep dish like an old fat back TV (e60/e90) and it’s not just standing in the middle of the dashboard like a stupid iPad (F30)

Why do all of these headunits need an aux connection for sound when they're bypassing the stock radio system with its' custom harness??
Technically not by passing the OEM system. The included harness connects to the factory one.

Because the systems are designed to play audio on single channels. In 2016 the hardware was updated where you can have radio music playing and have Apple CarPlay speak directions on the same channel

What’s the best speakers that you can get a 2018 BMW? Do they have the Bowers n Wilks? Or the Bang Olfsen? Or is the 12-16 speaker HK system the best?
Did you manage did find out what that speaker actually find out what that speakers for? Also I tried to use a reverse camera for my car but it doesn't seem to be working. Any idea why?

Its too bright for night driving, even at minimum brightness and have no polarization filter so it gave glares at front window.
Or auto and doesn't have much glare

Even though some people hate it , I prefer the hump on the e9x for idrive. I’m not a big fan of screens just sticking out the dash.

OK, so becuase of this video I've got tempted and gave those a shot (actually two different ones) and unfortunately it looks like somebody is white labelling those and random companies just slap their own stickers on it and due to that those share common problems that are off putting for me:
1. This one is a deal breaker, but there is no integration with vehicle brightness adjustment. Yes you can go to menu and alter that, but it should be tangled with what vehicle is expecting from the screen ... there is a damn know next to the steering wheel that dimms whole instrument cluster and all the light in the car - which has NO AFFECT on those displays. And before you mention it - yes you can go to original menu and go for switching the screen off - however that just leaves the screen black ... and both that I've tried had a dramatic amount of backlight bleed that make unusable on dark B roads ... sorry, but that's just stupid.
2. car skip and rewind buttons don't work ... you get that from steering wheel knob, but that should allow me to navigate the stuff :/
3. sound quality is just S** it falls way behind the bluetooth quality. Not to mention that sound is more akin to mono than stereo - and I confirmed that with playing track that clearly jumps vocals between channels ... and no, my aux input it not proken, I tested it directly from audio source and plays just perfect. And the built in equaliser is only 3 way, sorry but I'll compare it with MMI box that I've got in other bimmer, and not to mention sound quality being superior and stereo, MMI box has 10 way equaliser allowing to really negate any aux in kinks.
4. and admittingly I've not played around with it too much, the sound that comes from sat naw (while in car play) is not properly mixed with the music and it's barely noticeable - again, sorry but main selling point of carplay is that you can use waze and have speed cameras warning, or hazard warning ... with this display I nearly got done by camera.
That's from F32 + harman, if it magically works for others, great, not for me.
So this is my 2 pennies. Thanks for the content, but unfortunately the product is crap and I'll just go with OEM display not to hug a tree at night and mmi box to have a decent music quality.
the speaker is for parking sensors theres a little box on the main harness you showed that's part of it too. how do you add a boot sub though?

Hey man. Harman kardon isnt good audiosystem .. its only brand.. 😂😂 try focal, audison, gladen, logic etc. Or you can boost your oem hk audiosystem with amplifier... And you can get mooore better(the best) sound in bmw for half price.

@@skater6678 having this issue too, for me there is sound if no aux is connected from the bmw bluetooth, radio, etc. it shows aux front but says "aux device is not connected or transfer of track information is not supported by the aux device."
Does the screen adjust the brightness to the environment? I mean when it becomes dark outside, one doesn't want to manually set down the brightness of the screen every time.
There is an auto option. Goes off the cluster.

Since installing this I cant answer phone calls properly. I can hear my caller perfectly through bluetooth audio, but the original built in mic in my car is no longer working. People cant hear me. Anyone any idea?
