Something to note, when Sumire has her first “awakening” her mask comes off extremely easily with no blood. I think that shows she was still running from her problems and didn’t really “remove her mask” like the other phantom thieves. The point was that all of them were done running from their problems, and finally removed the superficial mask they put on to make others happy or be complacent. And there being blood and it looking painful was meant to represent how difficult it is to actually be honest with yourself. In p4, characters awakenings were accepting themselves. I really like the spin p5 did, where instead characters awakening scenes were representative of how society forced them to repress themselves
it's interesting to compare the two awakenings as Kasumi Cendrillon is more hostile in her tone and what's said. "accept this contract, the spell cast upon you". The mask comes off easy because it's a false layer, also why she has a magical girl transformation, getting disguised for the ball as Sumire Cendrillon is gentle in her voice. "are you prepared for your debut? The ball awaits". The mask was hard to pull off because her true self was painful to face, with Cendrillon being reformed from the soul of her sister
I really loved how they sprinkled in the hints/clues of who yoshizawa really was throughout the game: -The I.D. -The broken Phone. -Her Confidant rank being darker, different & only being rank 5. -her father saying 'Sumire' (you'd have to repeat the line to hear it.) -Akechi saying 'Kazumi Yoshizawa'. The foreshadowing was crazy fr. Also, congrats Sarah on finishing up this P5R playthrough. It was fun to watch 😌😄 Onwards to P5S & Tactica 🎉👏
I think for Yusuke, he doesn't remember anything about his mom, so Madarame will always be his father figure. But like Haru he wishes his father wasn't a piece of crap.
Of course, alternatively, perhaps the devs just didn't want to have to design another character. Which is fine. Especially since I believe it had a different director and producer than the original. I like your reason though.
I feel like I remember an ending where Joker wakes up in the attic, you can see it's covered in dust and cobwebs, and he just turns around and goes back to sleep. Am I crazy? lol
Nope, that's the ending you get if you don't secure the infiltration route (finish the palace) before Maruki's deadline. Basically it represents how Joker was unable to decide what he really wanted, so Maruki condemns him to eternal sleep.
If Maruki had used his powers to fix people's heart and not force them into a reality or blanket their pain with a fake life- his idea would've been amazing. Using that kind of power for theraupetic treatment would've solved a lot of mental health issues.
My second favorite game of all time. Just behind Xenoblade 2. The new semester felt like a long episode of The Twilight Zone. As much as I liked it, I wished Kasumi (not Sumire) joined the group sooner and had more time to interact with the Thieves. Maruki became one of my favorite characters in the series too. The fight with Sumire will always be awkward for me. I had a persona that repelled physical attacks and she got a crit and died almost instantly...
What a great way to spend the holiday. After watching your XC3 videos, I was hoping you’ve touched persona. The third semester is so perfectly done, especially with Maruki and Akechi.
Well, I thought I finished PS5 R also... after watching your ending, It would seem I got the short and sweet ending instead. Love you Sarah, ty for reaction.
I will happily accept the offer from Maruki. This is similar to many people can't stop buying lottery for ages because they want to change their life to make their dream comes true. If human doesn't want to be changed, then they should just do their job and no need to buy any lottery. Now that Maruki offers you a ticket to win the lottery straightaway, why refuse?
I love the effort they put into Dr. Maruki's character is not evil it's just that he's misguided. I get it from both sides. He doesn't want the world to suffer what he suffered, so he put so much effort into making sure that everybody's dreams come into reality without any hardships. But for the Phantom thieves, they look at it as you're robbing people out of their chance of growth and development. A chance to grow from defeat and heartache is a part of life that none of us can escape from. I love the part where Joker tried to pull him up. You can hear Joker's Agony and struggle he's using every ounce of his strength to pull Dr Maruki up from death. He lost his will and heartbroken, and he feels he has nothing left to live for he told him to let me go. his eyes are just as bright and honest as ever. You keep your head up no matter what that's true respect between rivals and enemies.
I know this video has quite some time, but I just wanna say, I really love that you play basically every game I play haha. Love the good content! Keep it up!
One heartbreaking part that I missed on my first playthrough is that as soon as Maruki tells Rumi that his gf "died" her portrait disappears like he wiped her entire existence away, even though she's damn near being worshipped in his palace.
Akechi is a menace to society but I was actually so glad to see him at the start of the new year. If anyone could help in that situation it would be him. It honestly makes sense he wouldn't be fooled by the altered reality
Sumiere's plot revolves around Cinderella a bit, love that her persona is a mirror of that. That's why she says "the clock strikes midnight" as in Cinderella. Such a sad DLC really, but Sumiere and Joker dating is amazing. As far as I know,,she's the only one to actually exclaim her love FIRST to Joker and make the first move pretty much, making Joker respond in kind.
I played vanilla a long time ago so I felt like it was only worth showing the actual Royal content. I have another clip compilation before this one of royal content, though.
@@SarahKey ah rip. I'll have to do some digging then. Technically this is better, I haven't finished royal, so i wanna watch p5 content but most people only play p5r. So i kinda try to watch sparingly
I love every part of Royal except the ending with Sumire, especially for the ending anime. It's just so plain. I understand the game's development must be in a rush in the end but come on, she's your cover girl for Royal!
When you first play persona is just feels like an classic JRPG but when you beat it you feel sad because this game is not one of those classic JRPG's this game hits like a truck and has phenomenal endings that make you wish they had a persona 4 golden moment where he comes back to see his friends. P.s I don't know if you played it so I hope it's not a spoiler.
I know this is 8 months ago but you said it was weird Maruki was the one driving. It's not that weird if you think about it. As a taxi driver he can continue his dream of guiding people to their destination. :)
1:43:42 oh turns out Our Light *was* playing during a cutscene lmao, it was just the opening instrumental when Maruki was falling off the shattering glass ;_;
My only complaint about this game is how little you get to enjoy sumire and akechi... I really think they should have pulled a "on new game plus you can have them for gameplay and fanservice purposes from the beggining of the game"
“Are you willing to accept the reality I create for you?” He’s a nice guy but he thinks he knows what’s best for everyone, despite the wrongness of the Sumire/Kasumi situation he created. The biggest question for me is whether it’s ethical to collapse the palace and cause the death of Wakaba, Okumura, Makoto’s Dad, etc. If his plan succeeds, they would exist as real people, right?
Nooooo! You were playing through Royal my favorite rpg and I didn't know?! I'm so sad I missed this! :( What do you think of the game after playing through it Sarah?
I sided with Maruki, that's my canon ending (I then went back so I could do the actual dungeon and see everything, and Maruki's resolve just clarified that I'd made the right choice).
Overall, I like the vibe of the game. I prefer Maruki's world. Phantom Thief's philosophy where one needs loss in order to learn and improve, fighting the status quo is lost on me. How many millennia has the humanity evolve? We still have war and human suffering. Country against each over resources and Earth is dieing due to climate change. People who have incurable illness are fated to die without the strength to fight back. Corporation are so powerful that even if we fight back, we have to worry about the retaliation that affect our family. The only reason how the Phantom Thief is able to fight against God is that they are granted to power to do so. Do you think a group of high school kids can fight the like of North Korea and Russia? It is like a bunch of American kids tell North Korean Peasant to fight and become free. Why does the Phantom Thieves able to choose for everyone? This generation looks at online social media and virtual reality to escape from the world that the Phantom Thieves choose. Should their decision be for all of humanity? That just selfish because PT have the magical power to do so unlike us peasants. In Maruki's world, people who are disable can walk again. Those who want have power to bring justice to the world can do so themself. Evil people like Shido or Kamoshida can also achieve their evil deed; however, if the majority of people have the power to subdue them, they can do it. Kamoshida was able to have his evil way because he's an athlete and preys on the weak will, who can't fight back. Well, if everyone has everything taken care of, then there is no weakness Kamoshida can claw his way in. Not everything is solve because people wants conflict with another wants, but it does level out the playing field.
is there a video between the "chaotic video" one and this one? I know the VODs are there so it's no problem either way, just wondering if there's an edited version of the stuff between casino and this video.
Wait when did you even play this game? there's nothing P5 related on the channel that came out recently yet here you are dropping the ending outta nowhere.
Is it just me? I preferred the story of vanilla 5. If the elements of royal were added over the regular vanilla plot instead of creating this fictional scenario it would have been perfect; it seems as if they just added more Akechi as fan service.
RIP Billy Kametz. Thank you for your incredible performance as Maruki.
Seriously. His performance as Maruki is absolutely incredible.
Wait did he die?! :(
@GuardianAngelEatos yeah last year
@@GuardianAngelEatos Yeah from colon cancer. 😢
@@sidharthsaha5003 That's so sad. 😢
Maruki becoming a taxi driver means he's now taking people to where they want to/need to go, rather than trying to guide them himself ;-;
Oh, that's good analogy.
THAT ANALOGY SLIPPED PAST ME WHAT
That is a wonderful explaination! I will start telling people this from now on.
Man, I love Maruki as a character. To me, he's the best example of the phrase "the road to hell was paved with good intentions"

"Haru: I'll be dining with my father later"
Sarah's facial expression: "excuse me girl what did you just say??"
It’s like watching someone start piecing this weirdness together in real time
well, one to look at it is that haru basically said that tonight she is gonna be dinning in hell...
I really loved how they sprinkled in the hints/clues of who yoshizawa really was throughout the game:

Good taste! P5R is my favourite game ever and Xenoblade 2 is actually my 3rd favourite game after smash bros ultimate!
You have no idea how much i wanted you too upload this🙂. Persona 5 royal is amazing✊
If you're sad about it being over, there's always Strikers if you ever want to see the Phantom Thieves again in the sequel.
True. However, the caveat is that Strikers is sequel to the original game. Basically, before they added Maruki and Kasumi.
What a great way to spend the holiday. After watching your XC3 videos, I was hoping you’ve touched persona. The third semester is so perfectly done, especially with Maruki and Akechi.
