    I expect this mower will last several seasons with decent care. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx1VWTrayKBdCKAjzAcZ_Eg4dhHTae3LkN also recommend Also, I ran across the problem with it not starting the 2nd time I used it. There is a safety switch which is pushed in by the chute or mulching piece being attached to the deck. I took the cover off and it wouldn't start. Put it back on, no problem. It takes only a minute with 2 easily accessible wingnuts and no tools. This mower starts up first crank each time and it is a joy to use. It also mows in reverse by putting the key to the reverse area after starting and pushing in the triangular button. It will stay in reverse mode until you turn it off. All in all, for my homeowner needs, I really like this mower-and at 70 bucks a cut here in Miami, it's already more than 1/3 paid for itself in a month.

      With triangular button that sounds like a Troy-Bilt to me but I tell you what ever since I bought my Encore Edge Pro 60 inch commercial zero turn I'll never go back to any other brand again! I only say that cuz how nice they are and Noone knows about them I guess cuz in the only one with one anywhere around my area lol he came up with a really good idea here except I think it would work better with over of those synthetic straw firm deck brushs( of course they cost more) but in thinking it would last the whole season!

    Wonder if it was off the very back at the ball hitch with 1 long bolt and a tack weld( won't move then) then bolt to the bar? I'll let you know how it goes on my Encore edge pro commercial zero! Good job

    I'll use smaller bolts with washer and a lock nut, thanks for part of the idea! I'll keep mine just¼-½ lower then the deck so it don't scrape , it's only gotta touch it lightly and bend it! Good idea tho, thanks

  • @ElMagnificoRe

    Here's a tip, those brushes are too far down. You want to bend the grass not fully tear it. Pick it up, close deck level or slightly under. You might not feel it but your machine is working harder to move with a brush that far down. Pushing horsepower and wasting gas. Trust me I work with hydraulic fairway mowers with brushes, you can hear the difference when the brushes are not set up properly. If you notice your comments are people complaining that it breaks easily, it's because of that. Great concept you just need a little adjustment. Other than that great job

    Good idea. I watched the vid in mute not to wake the wife . gotta say.. 8 minutes just showing an L bracket and 2 bolts slowly going on had me almost asleep too.

    Also should use washers on top of your bottom leveling nut and it wouldn’t hurt to place a fender washer then a lock washer on the wing nut side. If you plan on taking the brush on and off numerous times that may be more of a pain than beneficial. This is a good idea though, it should work well. Just a bit of advice though people on social media platforms will give you an absolute fit for calling bolts screws and calling nuts screws and bolts. It can be very confusing to some viewers if they are not paying close attention or if they are not mechanically inclined to know what you meant to say. I’m not trying to give you a hard time I’m just trying to give you helpful advice. Especially if you are promoting a professional business, website, or UA-cam channel. Being correct counts for an increase of customers in any of the above mentioned. Good luck sir.

      Also, you may want to go back and edit a clip into this video of that DIY striper actually working. I’m not sure if you can add or edit a video you’ve already posted but why you wouldn’t want your viewers to see the final results or actual purpose of your project?

    Pretty cool. I bet those L brackets won't hold long though. Reversing or going back/forth is going to bend them because the bristles will be pushed into the ground. I wonder if you could get a wider brush and saw the ends off to make it as wide as your rear tires?
    I like it though. It's a clever and harmless/cheap/reversible modification that works. That's what these videos are all about! Nice job.

    Props for a DIY solution! A couple things that I thought about when watching this: I think without a lock washer between the underside of your bracket and second nut, and also between the top of your bracket and wingnut, it will probably vibrate loose on you over time when you mow. It'll slow you down if you have to adjust brush height when changing deck height but I think otherwise it may come off due to vibration. Secondly, how much gap do you have on each side between the width of your brush and the distance between your rear tires that will result in short sections of grass not being pushed over (striped)? I went with a rubber mat attached to a 1x1 tube on the mower hitch hole that drags behind my zero turn to get a full stripe, but I've seen guys use boat rollers the same way. I've always liked the brush idea, just can't see a good way to attach it without problems when raising/lowering the deck and not finding push brooms that were wide enough to cover the entire mowing pass width.

      What abt applying the same method as if it were a pipe? Would attaching the brush to chains that hang low enough to touch the grass behind the mower work?

    • @GreenerFieldsLawnCare
      @GreenerFieldsLawnCare  3 роки тому +1

      It works well. Go with heavy duty brackets though. The ones in video bent easily. But I use heavy duty now and no problems. The brush will last a season or so depending on how much you run your machine. Good thing about this as opposed to the metal roller ( We have one ), is the brush is easier on the deck because the bristles, unlike the roller, doesn't get caught on things. Let us know if you have more questions. You can see some examples of the striping on our website and on the channel.

    Hate when the nut is too big for the hole.... aren’t those holes in he deck for airflow? I thought that was especially true for the exmark because they’re engineered to take in air for circulating the grass underneath Or were these setup for the factory kit?
    Either way, great idea.

    We all have different opinions but I just don't see spending anywhere from $5k plus on a mower to cheap out on a striping kit that would last alot longer than the brush

    • @GreenerFieldsLawnCare
      @GreenerFieldsLawnCare  4 роки тому +7

      Thanks for the input. We do have an "official striping kit" by exmark. The con is they get caught on things on people's property like roots for example. This can damage your deck and put undue stress on it as well. The brush is inexpensive but it gives way in ways a metal roller simply can't. If a person is doing all perfect or close to perfectly graded properties then the roller would work. If not, the brush is a much better option and keeps the stress off of the structure of the mower deck because is gives way to hard obstructions.
