Funny you ask… I’m about to sand it back down to bare metal and do the process over again. It’s been about 5 years and it’s starting to crack. Going to fix the area before I vinyl wrap it again. Overall it was a decent job for my first time 🤷♂️
How good does it stick on primer? I put a wide body kit on my car and it’s on primer so I order a sample of the color I’m gonna use and I tried to apply it on the primer and it barley stay even with heat. So I’m kinda scared. I don’t know if because it’s an small piece or it just won’t stick.
I used a 320 sanding block for the primer. I used etching primer for any bare metal areas and followed that with sandable/fillable primer. Here’s a video that goes more in-depth ua-cam.com/video/W8MnCsBXZdE/v-deo.html
I recently had my whole car primered. Going to wrap it next week. I smoothed it out with 600 grit then followed up with 1000, 1500, then 2000. I wanted make sure there was enough surface tension. I also agree @06WRXDUDE to clay bar a few time to get the primer dust from the surface. It's a lot of work.
Looking good man especially now the front end is done. Did well to say it was your first time filling a panel as well.
Subie is looking better every time. Hard work is paying off 👌🏻💪🏻
I respect the grind man improvise, adapt, and overcome!!!
Nice job on the vinyl dude looks great
what grit did you use to sand the primer?
Excellent vid, bud. How’s it holding up, after 3 years? I’m about to wrap my Land Cruiser, and will be doing bodywork as well.
Thanks! 👍🏼👽👍🏼
Well here’s a video from a year ago. The wrap was about 2 years old. ua-cam.com/video/fS2oW8ZnzvM/v-deo.html
Thanks again!
Nice work Bro. How did you decontaminate the fender after priming? How long did you wait to wrap after primer?
Rubbing alcohol I guess? I waited a day before sanding and wrapping
Thank you. Did you sand the primer with a grit greater than 1000?
I've seen jobs where the film was taking the primer away.
I think I only went down to 400 grit with no issues with the wrap sticking/unpeeling
Lookin goood 👍
How did this hold up? Doing the same process but I’m told you need to wait a week for the primer to let it off gas

The Avery wrap I used stuck to my primer okay.
Can you do it for my car please do you have a shop that I can come to?
No shop I’m sorry. Just a dude in the garage
Can you wrap over bare metal if the surface doesnt have any dips and is smoothly even with the rest I’m trying to wrap my hood
Sure you could but not ideal!

@@donaldjohnson4570 how'd it go
How much would it cost to professionally get a body work prep like this done before a wrap
Not cheap I assume. I’ve never paid for body work . I’m a DIY kind of guy.
hey what vinyl brand did you use?
Avery Dennison
if you ever paint the fender its going to show the dents lol
-autobody guy 15ish years.
I assumed it would…just my DIY hack job 🤐
God he talks a lot.
