At that point you would be in the war anyway draft or no draft.

In today’s American youth population most “draftees won’t pass the mental or physical standards and certainly not the psychological screening. However, permit me to rethink my initial thought…with standards being lowered as far as they are, maybe that would work…as long as women are in the draft too. Thank you, I thought I was going insane like I already HAD to register to get my driver's license. Thing took like 30 seconds and now I have a scrap of paper saying I'm registered. I do love that people are like "I just won't go" if things are so bad the U.S. is having a draft do you really think you're going to be able to just say no? Nixon ended conscription but left the selective service requirements in place requiring sign up by 17 1/2 years of age or when ever you got your SSI card.
Bush sr then did away with that.
Todays military is extremely high tech and requires educated and motivated individuals neither of which you get with a draft.
If they were to start a draft today it would require a truly existential threat to the nation, it would require WW3 or a massive invasion of North America.
At that point you would be in the war anyway draft or no draft.

In today’s American youth population most “draftees won’t pass the mental or physical standards and certainly not the psychological screening. However, permit me to rethink my initial thought…with standards being lowered as far as they are, maybe that would work…as long as women are in the draft too. Otherwise they won’t be able to field a military.
