I am extremely interested to see what you think of the original series. I want to see your thoughts as a newcomer to an animated work that treats the audience like adults after seeing a live action adaptation that treats that same audience as if they’re children.
I have seen original, but never rewatched it, so I dont remember as much. Yet I remember what it is about and its atmosphere. I started to watch episode 1 of Netflix adaptation. The music is amazing, as it has the same composer. Actors are fine for me. And if this show came out of blue, I would continue watching it, I guess. But it actually made me thinking of a rewatch of the anime, rather than watching this version. P.S. yeah, I have seen just 1st episode.
I mostly agree with the review. But... Here is another American that use "Western audience" to mean "just US audience"... In many "western countries" (such as Italy or France) Cowboy Bebop was aired 2 years before English speaking countries.
Ok, in the anime characters have obvius flaws. So yeah, you have to hate faye first to learn to love her when you know more about her. She is one of the few sexualized characters in anime that are actually justified.
Faye starts out the same but the character grows as the series plays out and you learn her backstory. Since you watched this first, you should definitely watch the anime so you can compare and contrast accurately.
You never watch the original and.....go watch the original because you just ruin your experience lol. Because how can anyone trust your video if you never watch the original Anime.
Because this video isn't a review of the original or how well it adapted the original, rather a review of the Netflix version as its own stand-alone show. In a sense I'm talking about how well the show performs as a piece of entertainment, rather than an adaptation of something that came before. Me not watching the original anime allows me to comment on the Netflix version without a bias, since I have nothing to compare it to.
It's definitely worth watching the original and usually you can find the whole season for about 35 bucks, if I remember correctly the episodes aren't that long wither which works nicely for the episodic format they use. Def worth a pickup
Discovering the story of Cowboy Bebop thought the trash Netflix adaptation is like wanting to read a good book. But instead of reading it, you check out a summary made by a 14-year-old that was in a rush before a deadline. Yet, he didn't read the book either, he just described what he understood from an essay found on an online forum. Just watch the damn anime, it's a masterpiece, and leave Netflix with their crap.
I dont get it. Dont ppl realise that although its live action the dialigue is suppise to sound like anime. Ed comes across like the anime what do ppl expect. That spike is groggy that is the time ti introhuce ed as shes a surreal character like a deadpool in a serious, setting. She re. As a reference i will check the rotten tomatoes scores of both kenshin n deathnote what wirked n what didntbecause you have to loik at the good n the bad n see the samecfans responses to this one as well as those to get an iverview of what fans expect or what didnt translate as it was intended to. Im slre the cretive team didnt intentionally set out ti disappoint fans blt what about new fans who never watched the anime. What is there take. Everyone who saw the anime as it, wS mandatory viewing on adult swims are claiming to be experts in how et should be done. Wasnt the uniqueness of bebop was that each episode tone was unpredictable. But with several running gags littered throughout including eds movements
For me it is the tone and atmosphere here that throw me off. The original just had a way of transitioning between action comedy sadness and retrospection, without feeling really off putting and disjointed. Also like you said the personality of certain characters were just really bad, like Faye is completely botched and it's wack your first interaction with her had to be like that. Anime Faye by no means is a saint, hell no one in the crew really is besides from Ein and Ed, but she's not really this crash or blunt. She's selfish and very focused on her wants and needs but you slowly start to get glimpses into why she's like this and by the end you feel for her and sympathize. Hope none of this spoiled ya for the anime should you choose to watch it!
I think the issue is John Cho really nails the serious scenes but when it comes to comedy it doesn't feel natural and I think thats mainly his age it just looks goofy a 40 something year old talking about a bidet being for the asshole. Though I guess you can argue that Spike in the live action was just faking being silly to hide the pain that's why the comedy didn't feel natural but even with this explanation I think thats why the transitions didn't work.
Yeah from what I've been seeing, a lot of people say Faye is really different in the anime. And nah it didn't really spoil the anime for me, I still very much intend on watching it at some point. Probably sooner now, because of comments like yours are really hyping it up for me lol
Having seen it again, it’s amazing they found a way (anime) to balance these unique, singular adventures and yet build the characters up through their actions as well as foreshadowing cleverly their fates and the choices they make when it gets real seriously. And it’s one of the few shows (like Breaking Bad) to end on a literal bang in a satisfying yet melancholy way. Enjoy it, especially to wash out the bad taste of the live action out.
I totally agree with you about LIVE ACTION FAYE! This badly made live action adaptation of COWBOY BEBOP makes me want to rewatch the anime again! Especially now that they are streaming it on NETFLIX!
I just finished watching it and it aint too bad. I never saw the anime back then mainly cuz I didn't care bout other anime other than DBZ at the time. If anything after I finished watching the Netflix version got me interested in watchin the anime now and seeing what the differences are.
Yeah honestly I get that and its a really good way to look at it, that's how I was with a couple manga I read. I just wanted to see what the differences were between the anime and manga and I was able to enjoy doing that
@@samfisher2141 I watched the original anime in 1998 in Japanese and have been a fan ever since. I think we should just all enjoy the new Netflix adaptation. It will be a shame if they cut the series because of all the complains from Fanboys…
@@RealKingkong9888 fanboys.... Wasn't this garbage supposed to made for those very same "fanboys"? You completely missed the point of this adaptation, they basically change every aspect of the anime. I'm sorry but you're full of b*******.
Meh it's not that it was bad, in all honesty I still enjoyed the RoR anime, it was ok. The point I was making was that because I really enjoyed the series, I viewed the anime a bit more critically since I really enjoyed the manga. So the people who were upset with how the Netflix Cowboy Bebop looked just from the preview images, were upset because they really enjoyed the series and didn't want it to fall in the hands of people who might not care as much as they do.
The manga is bad. The anime is a relatevely adequate adaptation of an incredibly dumb manga. Like, really dumb. How anyone finds it even remotely interesting is beyond me.
The animation is a slideshow, the pacing is terrible, the art and voice direction was the only two good things it had going for it. Also if the manga can make me cry but the animation can't, there's something fundamentally wrong with it.
Yeah, Faye's all wrong She shows up in Episode "Hard luck Woman" that's like Episode 3 and won't hit hard till "My Funny Valentine." Not the first episode Like in the remake. Cause that's what it is just longer in the live-action so yeah the red-eye episode was about the same just the Anime did it better. Spike is not cool he's just a dude running from his past (not really a spoiler we tend to learn this first epsode) he's just sure that he can take down almost anybody.
Yeah, Faye is very different in the anime. And yes, you should watch the anime to not spoil it and you can make a vid about it instead.
Oh nice thank you for letting me know!

Great video, wouldn't mind watching a part 2.
Thank you!
I won't be an asshole and say I'm right you're wrong, but I find some points really funny cuz its really obvious that you haven't seen cbb.
Hey at least it'll make for a fun follow up so I can poke some fun at myself lol
It failed because of trolls... the showrunners, Netflix executives, etc.
Netflix Cowboy Bebop FAILED For MANY Reasons
Meet the gang bois!!! Spike Ramen-Noodle-hair Spiegel! Jet Africa Black! Gaye Valentine! Radical Special Ed! and Ein!

I'm back, thank you for your support!
My favorite CBB episode is the monkey cult one.
That's going to be an interesting episode whenever I get to it lol
It failed bc it was trash
the only redemption for live action faye's character is animated faye existing
Lol
It reeks of effort

Made a guitar cover video for the ending theme, The Real Folk Blues.
