    When Manmeet Maggu learned that his nephew, Praneit, had been diagnosed with cerebral palsy, the co-founder and CEO of Trexo Robotics was determined to help him walk.
    While some robotic mobility exoskeletons exist, Praneit’s family soon ran up against an unfortunate reality. “We said, ‘why don’t we buy him some sort of robotic system that can help him walk?’ [We] pretty soon realized that there’s just nothing out there for kids,” Maggu says. “But everybody wants to see their kids walk.”
    Since buying something off the rack was not an option, Maggu and his friend Rahul Udasi got to work themselves. The former University of Waterloo classmates put their robotics expertise to work, building Praneit a child-sized - and Iron Man inspired - version of the mobility exoskeletons available for adults.
    Today, their robot exoskeleton device is in homes, clinics, and hospitals, helping kids finally take their first steps.
    CORRECTION 3/1/22: The video says, “today, [Ellie’s] walked over 25,000 steps.” At time of filming, Ellia had taken over 250,000 steps, and today is close to 300,000.

    Wow, this is truly amazing. I don't have anybody in my life with CP right now but there was a student from my school with it and I can't imagine how different his life would have been if he'd been able to have something like this. It's fantastic that they jumped the research stage of figuring out complex obstacles and just jumped into an immediate, more direct and simple solution. It won't allow kids to get everywhere in the world but it's a stepping stone on the way to something better. Something is definitely way better than nothing, and it blew my mind realising the additional health benefits that occurred as a side effect of having the Trexo. I bet some of the research labs didn't even expect that.
    Well done Trexo. Changing the world one step at a time.

    This is amazing. I wish I could get this for my 3 year old niece who has cerebral palsy. Watching her develop so slowly everyday and miss milestones is heartbreaking. She does have a walker, but one of her feet is crooked and she kinda crab walks so I think it would help to have motorized robotics to teach her how to walk properly instead of just pushing herself around while dragging the one foot.

    I live it, but someone should make something similar to this and make a (truly) NONPROFIT company around it, sharing all designs open source so these could be truly affordable and accessible for kids that aren't rich, everywhere in the world.
    Some things are more valuable than profits...

  • @saeed6811
    @saeed6811 2 місяці тому

    Someone make this open source so that everyone can afford it. 30,000 USD is way too much. I dont understand people who think that everone is Bill Gate. Let alone the funds involved, there is lost funds used for physiotherapy etc. Have mercy on us 😅
