Basic rule of thumb. Higher the ABV/proof means lower the sugar content. Therefore more sugar means more heavy. So put heaviest on the bottom.

I tried to recreate this and it worked for the orange juice and the grenadine but the midori/vodka mix was compeltelly absorbed, even tho I used the same bottle of Midori and i amde sure to cool it.

If the grenadine ends up sinking to the bottom, why not add the grenadine first?

That is a good question. You add the Grenadine later so it will mix before it settles. that way you keep the mixed part..
