We are thinking of coming there in August or September. We have been to Bocas Del Toro, Las Terrenas in the Dominican Republic to find where we want to retire. When in Bocas we were told that we would have to pay somebody about $650 a month to stay on our property or you can get people who will go to the property stay on it and claim the property as theirs. Squander rights. We are looking just to live half the time there. Is something like that possible there, or would we have to pay at least $650 a month to have somebody to check on our property. BTW we are looking for an ocean and mountain view home or lot, up higher on a hill but less then a mile from the beach.
You don't have to pay that amount... If I were you I would get someone to manage it for the six months you aren't there and perhaps hire it out during that period to people coming to Panama. This allows them a place to stay, at a reasonable rate, whilst they can look around and ensures your place is safe. I know one or two people that could possibly assist you with this.
Ginny, I am also looking for a place similar to what you described almost a year ago. Did you ever find your home? I am looking at spending half a year in Panama and the rest in Colombia.
I would love to see some properties I will be there in April
Great content!!!!
Thanks Nick!
