- This little go kart came in with no spark. Many parts were replaced but still no spark. Let's unravel this mystery.

Yes, I know about the chrome cap! No, it doesn't matter!
Just so you know bud that cap was rattling all around..... hehehe
Oh I would HAVE to do something about it!!! Drove me nuts the whole time!
It's just tare weight anyway! lol
I thought it was a screw at first
That cap is just an access for the charging coils and the crankshaft sensor, it's usually not a big deal but once I saw a guy "top off" the engine oil using that cap.
Wes: "Maxwell. Are you supposed to be up there, buddy?"
Max: "Are you supposed to be wedged into a tiny Chinese noise maker?"
He has a point!
Winning comment!
Ole' shop sign that says...
"Labor: $28/hr
$50/hr if you watch
$75/hr if you worked on it before bringing it here"
Couldn't be more accurate. Wes needs that sign lol
You forgot $100/hr if you help. 😆
I think the dog was even worried ...he got up on the trailer for protection
My tought too ! "Master has become berserk. Better get shelter !" 🤣🤣
I don’t know which was funnier, watching Wes shoehorn himself into that Chinesium go-cart or wrenching himself out of it! Even ol Max was a bit worried there.
Max wanted a good seat in case Wes ended up stuck in that thing
The Chinese toys are fun when new, then after a hundred hours, they turn into a neverending tune up job, the Japanese stuff is 3-times the price but will last for yrs without wrenching
best part of the week, a new Watch Wes Work vid.
Coffee with Wes is the best part of watching.
That dog is not stupid ! He saw a mad man on a go-cart ! Thanks again for taking us along !
Somebody's been here before! It looks like the people that rebuilt my Terrain are now go kart mechanics. They must have run out of body filler and had to pick a new line of work. I was waiting for the test drive! lol
That thing came in "ready for the pile"!
Job security I guess!
Wiring loom..in the pile!
Heck yeah! Gotta have a test drive.
youtube wrold is really small, i watch your youtube chanels and now we are commenting on each others video, i am waching your videos from india
Watching Wes climb out I heard the circus music when countless clowns climb out of the tiny car. Lol another great video. Thanks Wes for all that you do.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I was waiting for the Fire Department to show up to get him out
If I had wedged my self in there it would have taken the jaws-of-life to get me out. And the go kart and I would have both been a total loss.
@@martinsnyder4947 If that were me in the Kart yeah, full extrication - would make a good video though!
😅😅🤣🤣🤣🤣😏
I was hoping the diagnosis would be more like: "Well, this engine is shot. But I do have a 3 cylinder Kubota diesel that might fit..."
The Test Drive Was A Good Laugh, Much Needed. Great Video Sir
Thanks 👍
Three things made this video for me; Wes getting in the go cart, Wes getting out of the go cart, and the dog. I love that dog.
that's how you make a new teen driver feel really confident. when they pull in, everyone acts horrified, scatters, climbs up on trees, fences, gets on or behind farm machinery ... each other ...
Wes made a kid out there very happy by fixing his go cart. Repair went well and I loved Wes' test ride.
I was 6'2" 256lbs when I was eleven. So I would have looked just like you did Wes. I guarantee he had no idea that starter hooked to a chain.
I was worried jaws of life might have been necessary to get you out of that mouse car.🤣👍
I`m 73 and I want one NOW. Brilliant video again, nice camera.
Started replaced, badly. Wiring re-worked, badly. Carburetor adjusted, badly. John Q. Customer was here.
He mentioned that there was something melted around the solenoid. I suspect positive and negative from the battery were put across the solenoid, so at some point when he hit start, the battery was shorted out, causing *lots* of heat! Random rewiring after that reversed polarity.
Their is nothing greater than seeing the big smile from a child when he gets a go kart or motorbike
In the 70’s I had friends who had an Honda ATC 90 ( I think it was. 90). All 4 seasons for years it was rolled, beat, ran out of oil, seized , and it still ran. This Chinese Copy has nothing in common. Great video Wes.
From the road "Look mommy that man has a go cart growing on him. I can't see well but it looks like he may have chewed his own arm off." That was classic WWW.
When I was 13 my cousin took me in his side by side go kart that I didn't know he had no idea how to drive. He took us through a cornfield in summer and not only were we torn up by the corn, we were covered in bugs including a couple I swallowed from screaming, then he took a shortcut to get us out and that was into the run off ditch where we fell about 3 feet into some rocks amd I broke 3 fingers. After we stumbled home crying and bleeding, his dad yelled at me for convincing his son to take it into a field. Like I was driving or even knew where he was going. But I was a city kid apparently. My mom cleaned my up, and we left to get me to a hospital, but before we left, while my uncle and his wife went to go retrieve the cart from the ditch, my dad reworked the spark plug wires on the distributor so they were out of order on my uncle's brand new F-150....and also loosened up his positive battery cable.
Oh dear. And people say that modern people are off due to "social media" and this and that. No matter whose stories i hear, people in the olden days were reckless...and whats worse....vindictive to the nth degree. Beating up coworkers, family, wife. Messing with peoples stuff, driving vehicles you cant (someone from my family killed himself in a similar story to yours "back in the day"). That is what all those "everything used to better" people forget.
I saw a cap fall off crankcase. Also right front is cambered away. Nice work Wes.
That's an optional cap...
@@WatchWesWork From a beer bottle?
@@alanfarenden9378 I think it was a cap for timing check hole. Without it, the generator has good chances to meet with sand, rocks, mud, water and everthing nice that this thing is driven on or into.
@@WatchWesWork oh cool. Thank You friend. I enjoy your work!
Oddly enough it started running just fine right after that. Clearly a faulty cap!
Tractors, forklifts, bulldozers, cranes, plow trucks, combines, cars, pickups suvs, atv, lawnmowers, golf carts and now go carts. Man! Talk about versatility
Man I was pissing myself when you were strategically trying to fit in that thing. LMFAO that was hilarious. Let's not forget the choke lever too. LOL. I wonder if the customer even knew about that and was just flooding it out and soaking the plug which was causing the no spark condition? You definitely didn't get the complete story there of why the shotgunning of parts took place. You are on point for sure, your little boy would love one of those. Great vidja Wes, certainly had me laughing more than once! 😁🤣👍
Musty1 has done hundreds on his channel and I'm never bored watching it. It's like doing those car washes that haven't been touched in 20 years.
When a nasty, crusty old carb comes out of an ultrasonic cleaner, it's just *chef's kiss*.
Always interesting, thank you for taking the time to record and edit!
My pleasure!
I second that 👍
I can just imagine the cautionary note on the back of the repair invoice. Dear Valued customer....please put down the tools and step away from the go kart. Then proceed to the nearest phone and call call me.
Good job Wes. As others have noted...I think the Max-Meister was worried.
Best part of this Vid is watching Wes get in and out of it. Keep up the great work.
Wes, after a horrendous day at work, this was a much needed ending. Thanks for the laugh.
Just finished a hard week at work. 6 days crammed into 4. You always make me smile. Thanks again Wess. Have a wonderful Easter and God bless.
You too!
Chicoms strike again, and yes I too would have chewed off my own arm for something like that when I was 12... Good video, Thanks Wes!
It's more entertaining watching you getting in and out of that crazy thing. Tanks for the video Wes. Take care.
Reminded me of a Gorilla on a tricycle when you test drove it! :P
I was thinking more like a gorilla humping a football but yours works 2 ! Lol
Holy crap ya scared Max so bad he jumped in the trailer. It looked like it had a suspension.
Just a gem of a video, I especially laughed watching you shoehorn yourself into it and later extract yourself from its jaws. Max's behaviour was just classic and it looked as though you enjoyed driving it as well
Thankfully you didn't come to grief on the test drive, hospital report would have stated "patient admitted wearing what appeared to be a child's toy car". Nice video, thank you.
Awesome love a random video. Hope you still put one out for the weekend. Love watching your videos in the am while drinking coffee to get the day going.
I'll try.
OMG...Looks like you pooped a go kart trying to get in that...you made my night Wes!
You should build that kid a cart out of spare parts, and let him help. I did that with my dad, and I'll never forget it. We started with an old John Deere mower.
Morning Wes. Nothing is boring as long as you narrate and explain, even a carburator. I'd find it interesting, especially and I don't know why, when
somebody, customer, is paying for it.
Its like watching homer simpson fit in that Zagrab xD Saves you pennies a day! Great work.
Put it in H
I love suprise uploads! Thanks Wes!
Glad you like them!
I was laughing so hard 🤣 when you pulled the detached choke plunger out, along with your chuckle. I was like "what kind of Micky Mouse contraption is this??"
Looks like a Honda CCR 125 from 50 years ago, literally. The Chinese must have been making these for 40 years. Probably the same master molds.
Seeing that “tappet” cover and goofy cap on the carb brings back memories. I used to make $10 changing a large “plastic” gear in the tranny after each race for a bunch of guys in a motorcycle club next to my house in 1973. They destroyed them every race.
I used to charge $25 to “rebuild the motor” using a wire brush to tear carbon off the cylinder head and piston crown. Hard to kill those old four strokes, even when you had no idea what was going on.
I was the club “mechanic” because my dad had a complete set of Craftsman mechanics tools. That was the hillbilly SnapOff of the day.
Hilarious. Thanks for the memories.
Hey! We used to rewire these by connecting wires to wherever they’d reach. Nobody had manuals, tools or brains. Just an old Crescent and a guess based on how long the wires were. It always worked after a few tries.
HEY WES. From a few minutes earlier, 14:56 I watched a cap come loose. AT 17:06 WHAT FELL OFF THE MOTOR, A CRANK CASE CAP....+++ I HOPE you found it...
Also, it kind of looks like something electrical burning at 16:54 (and before, those repeated puffs of smoke coming up around the carb), and I also noticed something rattling off the engine at 17:08 too - what a piece of work that thing is!
Next time you get something like that in, you might want to consider having Mrs. Wes do the test drive.
Good job sir!
Your logical step by step method of isolating a problem is amazing. You break a problem down into small parts rather than be overwhelmed by the big problem. You should be teaching student mechanics. Oh, wait a minute, I guess you are. Well want-a-be mechanics anyway. One of the best “Let’s Fix It” channels on You Tube.
Fun video, carb rebuilds may be boring to some but really useful to lots of us. Thanks Wes
Chewed my own arm off... lol!
Usually getting in is not the problem it's getting out. LOL
This is the reason I take pictures and label hoses and wires if I do work. I never can remember for sure if it is more than a day between take apart and put together. Glad you got it running. Someone will be putting a smile on their face tonight
Yeay the Circus bear is back! - on a more serious note, this repairs remind me very much of fixing the Go Carts at summer camp in PA at the start of season. After the local small engine repair place had "serviced" them and recomended we buy new gokarts!
The parts cannon hahah that’s a good one.
Hanging out with wes tonight at the shop cool beans 😎😎😎
No idea why I enjoy watching carb rebuilds so much... but please keep them!
I love the way you put the suspension to full compression!
LOL. Yeah. My wife tried it and was just as cramped. I enjoy your videos!
better buy it for the boy.....
Awesome , just scrolling not seeing anything remotely interesting to watch and BAM new www vid! Thanks!
You getting in and out of the cart reminds me of me driving my wife's toyota paseo. Hated that car, at 6'2" and 180, had the driver's seat racked all the way back, seat reclined as far as possible and my head still hit the roof.
Thanks Wes
@@@ 12:20ISH you mention '''IDK how interesting it'll be to rebuild a carb? Any rebuild by a generally good narrator and knowledgeable mick-a-nick,(such like you), is great!!!!!
Your next video will be the chiropractor visit after trying to get in and out of it...😂
Plus a trip or two to the ER for the wife cause she was laughing so hard and long.
APRIL FOOLS YOU HAVE BEEN PUNKED LOL
Always enjoy your videos because they are full of good information and well presented. BUT, have not stopped laughing since I saw you fold up and wrench yourself in the rig. Keep up the great work.
Pup: "Of course I'm allowed up here when you're making all that racket crazy driving around. It's the closest safe spot on short notice." "Since I have your attention, an extra snack would be appreciated."
If I'd had one of those when I was coming up, I'd have gotten myself into a shitload of trouble.
I did and did.
"You can't make an interesting video cleaning a carburetor" - Mustie1 does it almost every week. No part of this video was boring.
I love Mustie but I always skip the carb cleaning.
@@WatchWesWork once you've clean a few 1000 it becomes a mundane step 🤷♂️
@@WatchWesWork when is a once in a while thing like with your channel it’s not bad. With mustie it’s half of every video and you can only take so much.
@@WatchWesWork - probably because you have cleaned them often. I've cleaned them too...but they always are a bit mysterious to me being a DIYer.
"I"ll put that right where you can't see it." = hahahahahahahaha! Don't ever loose the sarcasm, love it.
The best part about it, Motorcycle type starter solenoids usually have a B and M moulded into them for "To battery" and "To Motor" for guidance. Still easy to get wrong though if the brains not engaged.
Wes, your lucky to get out of that, figured the wife would have to hitch you to the crane to pull you out! Lol
That would have been the best outro. Mrs. Wes having to get him out of the kart and all on camera. 😂😂
Fans know you aren’t one to edit out your mistakes as they are teaching moments. Thanks again for all the work. 👍👍
Maybe build him a tracked version yourself. Much more fun and easier to find spots for it. Just don't forget the a 6 point belt 😬
I second this!!
Nice Job Wes, , Old Style Seperate Solenoid and Starter , not like the Pre Engaged ones with Solenoid On the Starter now, Good Spot on the Wiring 👌
Was expecting the Lovely Mrs Wes 😍😋 to have a go in it
Hope Your All Keeping Well 👍
In our youth, my brother and I each had single seat go-carts like that. Surprisingly they were able to seat us even when we both hit 6' tall. We did however get a two seat go-cart that could fit two six footers, albeit slightly cramped. Be sure to get a two seater Wes that not only fits your son, but one that you and the Mrs. can enjoy as well! Or go the route of buy one that works for your son, and get one for you and the Mrs. to enjoy!
What’s the cap that makes a run for it in the back of the engine at 17:07?
Just a dust cap. Threads are gone.
It's definitely not a Honda! The engine has the "I'm coming apart" rattle! 🤔
That's a feature. So you remember it's running...
I would much rather work on anything that an owner or another person hasn't tried to fix before and screwed everything up. But too many think they can fix such things and have no idea how it really works. I am amazed the pervious person didn't have it all burned up with miss-matched wiring. Thumbs Up!... And you looked to fit in that kart perfectly... LOL
What every mechanic needs is a can opener
I feel like i`m watching a Mustie1 video. LOL
I dont know, I didn't get to see a entire carb rebuilt, so I feel disappointed.
@@zombanator3000 LOL
I take it you found the Chrome oil cap that vibrated loose and fell on the floor? All the best from Canada
It's just a dust cap. That's a dry cover.
@@WatchWesWork I was also thinking that maybe he had some water in that gas tank? And that's why I wasn't running the whole time?
Wes, I know somebody said this before and god only knows if Chinese made gloves are less a carcinogen, but error to caution and start wearing gloves. Just had to say my peace. Your work is first class !
Wes, parts cannon and not enough knowledge. Not beating up on whoever worked on it, but we all have been there.
Some of us more than others!
I see Wes, I hit like..
Good job. I put a whole wiring harness in one since I couldn't find the initial no spark problem. Now it needs a float or a replacement carb.
17:41 like a bullfrog riding a grasshopper. Perfect.
Good find on the starter solenoid being Wired wrong and a good carb cleaning and adjustment and good to go @Watch Wes Work
gotta drive it around the fields a few times to make sure it runs well! :) Good catch! I had one like that but zero compression it bent a valve.
Ouch!
Somebody yanked your crank! Thx for som late night infotainment Mr Wes. Say hello to Ms Wes as well! Greetings from Sweden.
Nice Job Wes ! Glad to see your weather has improved .
Me too!
Built to a budget, but they are fun for what they are! Thanks for sharing!
Ayy up Wes,I wish I had you as my local go to mechanic.you are the man what can.I think the cart was made for vertically challenged person not a 6ft+ guy
For some reason i was reminded of a bear riding a tricycle when i saw the opening? Nice video
Go kart made dog nervous so he climbed up on the trailer to get away from it. Watching you fold up to get in that kart looked about as silly as I did on my first riding lawnmower.
it was a treat finding this video last evening....thanks!
Wess. really love your channel never know what we're going to see sometimes and that is awesome love the variety of things you work on. Keep it up man you're doing great and everybody's taking notice!!
IT'S a BIRD, IT'S a PLANE, -- IT'S SUPERWES to the rescue-- AGAIN !! LOL
Jeez that thing sounds like a bag of jackhammers! Just a rattle i guess. Cool looking cart, suspension looks pretty good.
That's the dry clutch I think.
@@WatchWesWork Bet the bushing in the clutch hub us worn out. Very common. Nobody ever greases them.
We have trucks at work that they often fire the parts cannon at. It's like a game. I walk around after a service and find a new diff, new airbags, same old oil...
1. I think that you should have put the kiddo to work as a test driver, although that might have resulted in needing additional repairs! 2. Obviously pup is quite intelligent, he got out of harms way! He definitely had a much safer observation position! 3. Definitely a good video, I’m always amazed by the variety of machines that you work on.
It fitted you spot on just like your old prom jacket
Always a pleasure watching Wes work!
🤣 well Wes, I'm not going to tell you what you looked like trying to fit yourself into that thing, I'm sure you know..
That made my Friday morning!
THANKS for the show, and great job as usual ❤️✌️.
