Thanks Al. It’s very satisfying when upgrades like this go well. The next job on this is to try and make it DCC ready or hardwire a basic chip into it. Regards … Steve 👍
Hey Allan. Thanks for dropping in. Early Ho Lima. 20yrs old with a good motor and twin flywheels. Not a noisy ringfield in sight. What’s not to like. Going to try and fit a dcc socket for the next video instalment 🤗👍 Regards…. Steve Regards
Hi MR shed. Thanks for watching. This older Lima has a high quality motor with twin flywheels, so much better than some of the modern offerings. Regards… Steve 👍
A most excellent video, sir. The repair was inspiring and the result delightful('scuse the pun) So much to absorb. The LED tech is just astounding, now-a-days. Am I right in thinking that they put brass wheels on these old LIMA models? Nice one. All the best!
Hiya Flymo. Thanks for watching. The wheels do look brass to me. Plus a Quality motor and twin flywheels. I think when Hornby took them over they went to ringfields. Regards… Steve 👍
Great! I'm a Lima fan like you and I'm forever trying to upgrade these models. In fact I have more lima Locos than any other type. Can you tell me the name of the product you use in order that i can look for it on E Bay? Thanks a lot.
Hi AlfieJohn. Thanks for watching. Yes these older Ho Lima locos are good kit. Quality motors with twin flywheels. The lights are 12v bi-colour red/white. You can get them on eBay but I got mine online from Rapid Electronics as they are much cheaper Just make sure you don’t order the 5v version by mistake 👍 Hope this helps. Regards… Steve 👍👍
Great fix Steve, so nice to see these older locos restored and upgraded. It looks a very detailed model. Nice find.
Hi John. Thanks for dropping in. Looking at fitting a dcc socket. As it is dc only at present.
