Für mich, der mit Modellbahnen nix am Hut hat (ausser Spannen bei UA-cam) war das sehr lehrreich: wie viel Arbeit alleine im Unterbau steckt, den man ja später nicht sehen wird. Hut ab und bitte weiter dokumentieren.

Amazing planning, let alone the construction of the layout, is impressive in itself. From having a layout of my own in the late 1960's to mid 70's, I can really appreciate the attention to detail, but also the complex wiring required for so many tracks and sidings to power the trains. Can't wait for the next episode where it comes to completion and we can ALL enjoy the examining the detail in the scenery that is still to come.

Not going to lie, this will be a fantastic inspiration for my own layout rebuild once I’ve moved house and have a larger, L-shaped space to play with. Your build looks great, now I just have to go back through your earlier videos…

Klasse Video. Erinnert mich an meinen Anfang vor 7 Jahren. Spur N, Fleischmann auf Minitrix Gleismaterial, 16m2 auf 5 Ebenen 270m Gleis verlegt. Volldigital mit selbstgebauten dcc dekodern und s88 Rückmeldern. Ich mache seit einer Woche nun auch endlich die ersten ernstzunehmenden Probefahrten.
Bitte unbedingt weiterdokumentieren!

Das Allerwichtigste: man kann so etwas bei UA-cam nur sehen, wenn der UA-camr wirklich fast nie vergisst, die Kamera einzuschalten! Vielen Dank also dafür!

Brit here. Not a railway modeller but am a woodworker. Usually surprised at inability of otherwise brilliant modellers to do woodwork. You're an exception. All that timber bought in Covid era must have been expensive. I had to cut back on some projects in the house due to jump in costs
Yes, timber prices have also exploded in Germany, but they have remained within acceptable limits. Because of this, I have also opted for smooth-edged boards that are cheaper.

Eine wirklich fachmännische Leistung, durchdachter Schattenbahnhof und automatischer Zugwechsel. Habe selbst 4 Schattenbahnhöfe, allerdings manuell gesteuert. Gleisbesetzanzeige und Stoppabschnitte entstehen mit einem hohen Zeitaufwand um einen kollisionsfreien Zugablauf zu gewährleisten. 😁 Weiterhin viel Erfolg
Great job! I built something similar a few years ago including backdrop self-painted landscape of the Pacific Northwest (logging theme) here in the USA. Electronics were the most difficult part. Very impressed with your design and construction quality.. well done.

sehr schöne Anlage. Ich hatte vor 50 Jahren eine Modellbahn von Märklin, die mein Vater mit Freunden gebaut hat. Sie war in L-Form 3,5 x 3,0 und 2 Meter tief. Unterbau Tische und 22mm Pressspan. Mit einem riesigen Berg in der Ecke. 8 Züge konnten vollautomatisch Fahren. Deine Anlage hat einen sehr guten Unterbau. Ich bin jetzt schon neugierig, wie die Anlage einmal aussieht.

Das Problem, dass ich damals mit den Trittschalldämmungen aus Polystyrol hatte war, dass sie sich mit der Zeit verformten und der Streckenverlauf derart uneben wurde, dass mir die Züge aus den Gleisen sprangen. War allerdings auch bei Spur N, nicht H0. Würde mich hier über eine Erfahrung deinerseits freuen. Sehr schöner Baufortschritt, schön auch mal wieder jüngere Leute im Hobby so aktiv zu sehen.
Bei meiner alten Anlage hatte ich in der hinsicht überhaupt keine Probleme! Ich werde es natürlich beobachten und weiter berichten :] Gruß David
Nimm statt Polystyrol lieber Styrodur, das sind die grünen Platten. Diese sind erheblich formstabiler. Bevor man die biegen kann brechen sie.
Sie haben eine wesentlich höhere Dichte, eine glatte und feste Oberfläche und lassen sich wesentlich sauberer schneiden und auch Formausschnitte gelingen damit wesentlich besser.
@@waynejuckts66 Styrodur ist nichts anderes als Polystyrol. Das ist lediglich ein Handelsname von BASF für XPS Platten.

Hallo David, ich bin absolut sprachlos was Du da alles zauberst. Einfach Genial. Ich fange auch an eine kleine Anlage zu bauen und hatte eigentlich vor mit Märklin C-Gleisen zu arbeiten. Nach Deinen ganzen Videos werde ich auch auf Roco System umswitchen. Bin schon gespannt auf Dein Erklärvideo bez. der Technik, da habe ich viel aufholbedarf. Freue mich auf alles was noch kommt. Weiter so, Respekt. 😃

Perhaps when you have finished this fantastic project, you could come to England and show our useless planners how to build the H.S.2 which is currently grossly over budget, not going to where was planned and they are begging for more money to get it to Euston Station which was intended, instead of Old Oak Common sidings. You need patience, knowledge, and skills to do anything like this.
A few questions:
1. how did you decide on the different sections of the frame?
2. will you cover the metal rods (to turn them into something which looks like realistic pillars)?
3. where does the diorama go into the layout?
4. will you replace the big screws which keep the track in place on "Ramp West" with smaller, "invisible" ones?

Here are the answers to your questions:
1. the maximum length of the boards was 2m. This was the maximum size of the frame on which I then built.
2. the threaded rods are installed only in the later not visible area. So I do not have to hide them.
3. the diorama is not integrated into the layout, because it serves only as a presentation module.
4. yes, the screws will be removed again because the tracks will be glued on later.
I also plan to cut again a 2 year construction video as a summary, but until then there is still some time!

Wow, soviel alleine geschaft in einem Jahr Zeit. Ich hoffe auch soweit sein zu können in ungefähr 11,5 Monate. Toll gebaut, stabil gebaut, was alles sehr wichtig ist, obwohl man es später nicht mehr sieht. Viel Spaß beim weiterbau in 2023!

Klasse dokumentiert. Da hast Du sicher jede freie Minute im Keller verbracht. Ein ordentlicher Anlagenbau braucht richtig viel Zeit. Dafür stimmt aber nachher im Ergebnis alles.
