2 sprites moving at once!? B-bu-but that's impossible!
It is possible because maltby is maltby and he will always be maltby.

MY GOODNESS! Christmas came early this year 💕
And so production begins.... GB studio 2 has everything I wished for. It's going to be an interesting era!
Oh wow that's some real cool stuff. My biggest gripe was how the older versions weren't really open for extensibility, but exposing the game engine itself will allow the community to expand/change the engine if needed. Great stuff!
The Analogue support is really pushing me to work with GB Studio and I'm really excited for the whole thing!
Now if only a company produced custom Gameboy games physically that'd be sick!
ooh; yeah, being able to get your own game printed physically and be able to be used would be nice. i'll bet that it would cost a lot though. :/
I mean the possibility is there to an extent. LR still manages to get prints of gameboy games so the tech is still available, and cheap enough the small batch runs are still making a profit, so if you made something that kicked enough ass then in theory you'd be able to go physical with it if you could partner with LR, or whoever they use
First Press Games publishes new Game Boy games on cartridges as part of their Dot Matrix Series. I imagine they'd want to expand their offerings in that area.
You can buy gameboy cart reader/writers online that let you stick a rom on a cart. One of those with some $4 knockoff cartridges from Aliexpress is a pretty cheap way to make gameboy games.
@@Snailmail78 cool! ill try to keep that in mind when i get some money.
This is fast becoming one of my favorite development tools.
I have notice if you click on the run game button twice it will show everything as it loads. At the very end it says loading Emulator. It would be great if you could wrap the Emulator in the final game. Then people could play the game on any platform you choose. Windows, Android and other platforms. Thanks for creating this easy to use game development program. It is far the best for beginners
Those are some interesting new features you've got there
The thing I NEED to know...
Is when in August?
Idk. But today (August 3rd) marks the day the pre-order for the analogue pocket. In which 2.0.0 is compatible with the system.
pssst it's today

Yeaaaaa boiiiiiiii
Right About.... Now!
Question is: will you be allowed to switch genres on the fly? Like for example: a Zelda II styled game where it starts as an RPG, then it becomes a Platformer?
sounds kool and i hope so
I hope so too. I’d like to make a game that has some platformer levels and some side scrolling shooter levels
The update has been released and it is possible :D
@@zeta1691 YES! JUST WHAT THE DOCTOR ORDERED!
@@zeta1691 how do you change the genre though? I was wanting to make a sort of Zelda game with the top down sword kind of combat, but I couldn't figure out how. Thanks
Any news! I’m so looking forward to this, checking everyday for this! Can’t wait! And thank you so much!
I have some questions: will you be able to make bigger sprites for your games? Will you be able to make a run and gun game with this thing?
Will you be able to make cutscenes?
Chris I hate you and praise you at the same time.
Yes this is a very hype update
But this is gonna be the longest freaking month of my life
Ha, love the sneaky sword slash.
THE GAMEBOY ERA IS BACK !!!! Mouahahahahahaha !!!
Yeeeah
the game boy will conquer the world!
Wow supports platform and painting directly with GB Studio, I'm excited for its arrival :)
I can't program to save my life but damn if I won't try to make a prototype of the game I've been designing with this thing
I have never clicked on a video so fast in my goddamn life
This looks amazing!
HYPE
I stopped making my game because i was waiting for this update. Thank you so much!!!!
Thanks man !!! This is really amazing, I never tought this will happen. You're awesome bro.
Like Super Mario says : Just What I Needed !!
FINALLY! This is what I've been waiting for~♥
More genres and GBC support! I'll gladly try it when it comes out ^^
I don't know what to say. I'm just so happy. Thank you. You are appreciated. Thank you so much!
Finally shooter support! I'm looking forward to what I can make 😁
A way to put a bigger sprite into the dialogue box would be amazing. For the character face.
Space Shooters? Point-&-Clicks!? EVEN PLATFORMERS!?
*We now live in the best technology timeline.*
you're doing an amazing job!!!
Anxiously waiting for this! Thanks Chris!
so im incredibly excited i made a short game on the early alphas -then my computer crashed and i lost everything-
but my question is: will GBstudio 2 or later be able to make games that bypass the GB and GBC sprite limitations?
i love the UI so much ive tried 13-15 hours of RPG maker MV but GBstudio just clicks with me making 8 bits sprites and tiles is very simple but i would love(and even pay) to bypass tile and sprite limitations so i can make something just a bit more complex
just as an example of what i mean by complex: i love old school first person fake 3d dungeon crawlers like SMT 1/2 and i would really like to be able to make a cool 8Bit horror dungeon crawler but the limitations kinda hurt that
i made a super simple and clunky test for one once but it was closer to a point and click game(it was literally just the character as an arrow and event tiles on things like "look" and "talk" that would set a variable and teleport the player onto the actual small map)
What's the point to bypass limitations of the machine ?
I mean, the purpose of this tool is to make GB and GBC games, with the option to make a real ROM file.
If you want to bypass those limitations, there's other engines I guess, and even you can switch to GBA game.
If you want some complex things using GB or GBC the source is also included.
Love love LOVE this! My only question is, if the Analogue Pocket is more powerful than standard GB hardware, will there be a way to add more to a game and export it there? Or is the only option ATM to still create within the GB's set guidelines? As in, how far can we push the possibilities?
It would be cool if we could make game boy advanced quality games for the system.
RootBeerKing - Or at the very least 16-bit sprites in 8 Bit and cut scenes animation support. Pretty please.
Probably, but you'll have to go into the game's code by exporting the engine. But it requires lots of coding skills. Would do it and send you a copy of the engine but I know NONTHING about this stuff 😂
This is really amazing! Thank you for your hard work Chris !!
This is so exciting. Being able to make a Gameboy Color platformer is exactly what I wanted
I just started fiddling with BG Studio last week, building my assets right now, AND I'M SO PUMPED BC I WAS HOPING THIS UPDATE WOULD COME 🤩🎉
Mega man fan games here I come
Do we still have to create sprites and backgrounds using 3rd party applications? It would be more convenient if that stuff was built in. Can't wait for GBS 2!
Probably. It seems to just be the coloring that you do inside of GBStudio
Aesprite and GraphicsGale are both incredible and perfect for this, there's no need to reinvent the wheel imo
The Update That Changed It All.
Finally new game genres!
I'm THRILLING for this!! I NEED IT!!!!!
OMG!? That's awesome! Excited to build a platformer w/ GBStudio :-D
In love with this project! Thnks ❤
i love this program..but can you add layers to it? it might be very difficult but i would really appreciate it
are you gonna add real-time clock feature like in pokemon gold/silver/crystal? it would be really awesome
Cant wait to get my hands on GB Studio 2 :D
Holy shit new genres. Thanks
This just got even more interesting
Very nice. The music is great!
So can this REALLY recreate the Mega Man GameBoy games to the fullest? I would be impressed if anything like a MegaMan Unlimited GameBoy version existed.
I'm very excited! Version 2.0 almost release :)
100% excited fot that +_+
Good game engine. Please don't stop it like other great (discontinued) game engines. Never ever do this. I even agree to donate $1 million to you if you promise to upgrade it continuously.
Boy: I prefer my games with color
*World turns Blue*
Boy: I meant real color
*World's color palette changes to leopard colors*
Boy: Seriously!?! I meant real color!
*World color pallette turns to 16 Billion Colors*
Boy: So much better! :)
*World colors go back to monochrome*
Boy: WT* Is going on
já está disponível!
y'all the first beta version is out
YEAH
Oh my... now I know what I'll rerelease door on
There will be any support to famitracker in the future versions?
fami = famicom and not gameboy
Really excited for this to come out! I am currently working on a project, but I just wanted to ask you guys if it's possible to individually flip a sprite? You know, to save on animation and space and stuff...
The only thing I would like to do is make bosses somehow. Especially for the project I'm currently doing.
Yes, a million times YES
Wow can't wait to grab GB Studio 2 and an Analogue Pocket. Now I can make that J.R.R. Tolkien game to rule them all, and maybe a nice Silent Hill to boot!
Sorry I'm new here but is there a list of colors I can use in GBStudio 2? Also the background of an object is still the bright green from the previous versions?
I hope there's going to be some solitions flr real time combat..I've had the hatdest time getting that up and running in my games.
I wonder if there is something like this but for SNES games
Take my money
Oh wait its free🤣
Shemar Francis lol
yass this is what I needed in my life!!!!1!
YESSSSSSSSSS YES YES YESSS
LETS GOOOOOOOO
I just started to use this game maker but it’s amazing it has a 2.0. Update wow
Incredible
How Long untill this is released! I cant wait!
Would Games made with Color Mode be compatible for GameBoy Color?
Thank you so much 😍
Can you do color cycling on tiles with gb studio 2?
Sweet- does it support mod or xm? Please tell me it supports tracker music! 🎧💙💙💙👍
Yep, it supports mod files, all the documentation is here www.gbstudio.dev/docs/music/ and there’s a big community on the official discord helping to make music support even better!
will one of the genres be turned based rpg?
Do we have 3 frame walk cycles now, like in pokemon?
Wait.. SPRITE EDITOR?? NANI?!?
YES!!
OMG wtf this is gona be sooooOOOoo fucking cool !!!
It will probably never happen but I wish there was a gba version too, but I think Exe export should at least be possible
how did you get the sword animation at 0:35? is it just a smaller sprite with enough room for the sword?
Awesome man ! I discore this today, i really want to create something now !! :O
THIS IS WHAT I WAS TRYING TO DO DOR THE ORIGINAL
Wonderful
Shout Out to Pat The NES Punk for making me aware this exists!
Still wondering where I can listen to the full soundtrack of this trailer. Anyone know?
Is it possible to create an F-1 race type game on the Gameboy here?
Spicy as fuck.
shut up and take my money! I was waiting for it!
Great!
OH HELL YESSS
Amazing!
I can finally make a full color rpg for the gba
