Even after all this time Sigma's origin story still gives me shivers he is just a crazy physician who had a mistake on his calculation and now Talon use that to their advantage, I also love Doomfist's and Moira, well I love all the villains backstorys I think they are more interesting always because they see the world in a dark view and each one of them has their view
Widowmaker's is still the best one imo
Sigma's did give me an uneasy feeling even though their wasn't really anything outright disturbing to me.

The Sigma-origin-short is imo the best one, you can really feel the madness of incomprehensible power of meddling with black holes.
The calming piano music contrasts the chaotic visuals so good.

Sigma's always been my favorite since he was introduced. He's such a good character with awesome power.
Was more than just black holes. He was working on the unified theory that would tell us what was at the center of black holes and what was the start of the universe itself. The very origin of physics as they were withing the first nano seconds after the big bang when all the forces (Strong/Weak Nuclear, Electromagnetic, and Gravitational) were as one. Either he messed up, or he nailed it and we were not meant to comprehend it sending the man into madness.
Sometimes knowledge can be a bad thing.
Nice, Moira and Sigma are probably my favorites here, the voice actors do a really good job, and the art is pretty good too.

Sigma's is still my favorite. They nailed the creepiness so well!
Echo is an AI that learns by observing, which only a few people knew. She had been on a few missions with OW when the woman in the video, her creator, was killed in an attack at the lab. Echo at that point had observed her for long enough to make herself act and speak like her creator, becoming her "Echo". She was however put into that cradle, because Overwatch thought having an AI around would be too dangerous (which makes sense during a war against AI build by the same person). McCree (now known as Cole Cassidy, because the person working at Blizzard he was named after turned out to be not such a good guy..) was one of the very few people that knew her and ended up saving Echo from the cradle in the cinematic you guys saw.

I always forget about Sigma, but everytime I see his origin story. Just chills. Just a mad scientist with the power of a black hole in his hands. Also the contrast of such calming music with the insane visuals give off this Jekyll and Hyde vibe that fits him so well.

Fun fact, Sigma's origin trailer has a fascinating "hidden track" when viewed in reverse, there's at least one person out on youtube who's posted the reverse video. You should check it out!
For what Echo was doing alongside McCree (Or Cassidy as people call him now) in the cinematic, to make a long story short Echo was made by the inventor of the Omnics who caused the Omnic Wars some 20-30 years ago and when Overwatch fell, Echo was "decommissioned" and hidden away. Cassidy basically sprung Echo out of prison by tricking Ashe into blowing up those traintracks.
Like that they did that with the hidden track 😀

Actually, both are true about Sigma.
Brigittes origin stories still makes me smile everytime. The I am Brigitte Lindholm. And I WILL be their shield!" just gets me every time. Love the idea behind her hero design. The backstory to her is so well made & she definitely gives some great female represantation in the game, without getting the typical female game character treatment, as it often is the case. Just an "average woman" in proper armor. And its the hero that first peaked my interest in the game. I mean how awesome is it, to engage into a futuristic gunfight with a mace!?

The Backstory to her name is that Reinhardt (the Guy from the Honor & Glory Short) once saved Torbjörns (her father) life in a dire situation. And when reinhardt visited him in the hospital, torbjörn promised to Reinhardt, that he'd get the honour to name his coming child. Which is why she has a very german name.
Thy backstory wasn’t super spoilery and we enjoyed learning it 😀
Ken loves the villains! Can't blame him, they are all awesome with Sombra being my favourite (though she's more of an anti-hero). It should be noted that the man you see at 12:40 and 12:47 is Gabriel Reyes also known as Reaper and was once an Overwatch agent himself. It seems Moira gave him his mist powers through experimentation
also in game interaction lines between reaper and mercy, he blames mercy for an procedure that went wrong which i believe put him in a state of life an death, where is cells are constantly dying an being reborn.

I'd love to see a Talon focused cinematic. Sombra's cinematic involved them, but i'd like to see something from a higher-level perspective. Maybe a team getting orders from Doomfist, giving us more development about their ideology and how they plan to bring it to fruition.
Moiras voice actress was in a star wars film 👍 i think its rogue one stories and she played Mon Mothma
More Overwatch cinematics would always be welcome sight 🤩
The hero trailers "Introducing " sometimes give a bit more insight to personality, their toolkit which always matches the characters and sometimes a bit of story as well.
We plan to check those out in future ☺️

But ofc, they're gameplay trailers, and they're from before Overwatch' release, so things look different.

I'm shocked that they haven't done an Origin Story for Gabriel Reyes, AKA Reaper. He's the hooded guy in the Ana origin story, and the guy with the misty hands in the Moira origin story. He lead Overwatch's covert operations unit known as Blackwatch, which consisted of himself, Genji Shimada, Moira, and Jesse McCree (Or Cole Cassidy as McCree is now known). He was experimented on by Moira in a project known as Soldier 24. (Jack Morrison is Solder 76. 24+76=100, it's as if Soldier 76 and Reaper complete eachother, like Batman and the Joker), where he got his powers and immortality. He often fell out with Jack Morrison, especially after a Blackwatch operation went south and exposed Overwatch, which eventually lead to the bombing of Overwatch HQ. Afterwards, Gabriel joined Talon and became the skull masked terrorist known as Reaper.
He will always be McCree! At least for me xdd

Moira did not participate in creating the Soldier Enhancement program the U.S. used to create Soldier 24 and Soldier 76. The experiments she performed on Gabriel are what gave him his ghostly abilities due to his cells rapidly decaying and regenerating.

All the origin stories have lots of different things to offer. I love the creepy music and feel to Moira's, I like the more abstract, mysterious feel of Sigma's. I like the dramatic, very serious nature of Baptiste's, just to mention off the top of my head.

Few things that you need to know from these Overwatch Origin Stories:
0. Blizzard changed McCree's name as part of a broader plan to remove references to real-life developers and former employees of the studio in the wake of a lawsuit. ... That includes former Blizzard Entertainment employee Jesse McCree, whose name was borrowed for Overwatch's gun-slinging cowboy hero. Now he's called "Cole Cassidy".
1. Big Overwatch Trio (the leaders of Overwatch from the begging) -> Jack Morrison "Soldier 76", Ana Amari "Ana" & Gabriel Reyes (then "Soldier 24") but now known as "Reaper". So now world thinks there is no more leaders becouse they all thinking that all off them are dead.
2. Ana hesitated to take a shot on Widowmaker, becouse she knew her before Widowmaker was brainwash by Moira.
2,5. Moira not only brainwash Widowmaker (to make her kill her own Husband -> Gerard) but also as the experiment took away her feelings.
3. If you didn't notice Moira in her Origin Story create Reapers powers (Gabriel Reyes).
4. OR15 -> OR15A -> ORISA
5. Sigma -> After his experiment, Sigma split his personality into three people, Scientist, Madman and Murderer. Also in the game sometimes they're arguing.
6. Sigma -> In Sigma's breakout you can hear guns shooting in background. Fan fact we players recognize those guns, Reaper and Widowmaker was those who reliese him from the Mental Hospital.
6,5. Sigma -> 20:02 if you look in at scene in x0.25 speed you can see for a split of second that he Smile (my favorite and the most creepy detail in Overwatch Origin Stories)
7. In 12:40 you can see old team of bad guys of Overwatch -> they create a team called "Blackwatch" (from left:"Moira", "Genji", "Reaper", "Cassidy") but after those years Genji turned to the good side, Cassidy also but he do not want go back to the team Overwatch, Moira and Reaper are still bad guys (but tbh Reaper do not really wants to be there but he also thinks that he do not have a choice).

“That’s not always a good thing” that’s his philosophy Beth doom fist believes humanity can only evolve through conflict witch is why he’s with talon, most of them like sombra, Moira and reaper are there for a reason of there own while windowmaker and sigma are people they use as weapons.

Yes! So happy you guys watched these. I personally loved Sigma's. It was so out of left field. "Gravity is a harness. I have harnessed the harness." It's only disappointing that he turned out to be an average character with such an epic origin story like that. Ana's and Soldier's are solid imo too.

One thing you wouldn’t have known is that in the doomfist origin story when he broke tracers pack it almost caused her to faze out of existence and genji tracer and winston are considered the most powerful in overwatch so he almost won a 1v3 against the most powerful warriors

I'm not sure if you read these anymore, or if it's been answered but Mcree/Cassidy was Dr. Mina Liao's Bodyguard and was very close the the echo project, thats how he knew where the train robbery was in his animated short.

Easily my favorites were Baptiste and Sigma.
That black hole experiment failure warped his mind. He was such a brilliant physicist too.
Baptiste I'm happy to say learned his lesson. When he said the thing about taking a helping hand even from the devil he was referencing Talon. Thankfully he soon learned they were very bad and left them. He's still being chased actually. There's a story ( I think a comic or small novel) that they based his mini event after

Usually when a new hero origin story they release a little movie showcasing the hero using all their abilities to ultimately win a round in the game. Usually listed as "[now playable] hero name".

The Mccree video takes place after Overwatch fell apart as told by Morrison and Mei as it was attacked and disbanded. In another trailer you hear the Older Brother say how some of them are mercenaries now and others who knows. Mccree says in his video how he got a call (winston's message for all the old Overwatch agents to get back together) and that he could go but he has things he needs to do first so he came for her so she could go. My guess is for lack of knowing how, she was missing that chip he had so i'm guessing maintenance or stasis pod. My favorite truly is between Ana and Baptiste cause they both have good messages and views on life. Which if it wasn't clear in Baptiste video, he at one point joined a bad organization which was causing the same damage that lead him to the path he was on which brought him to that group, so disgusted with becoming the "big man" instead of the "brave man" he left them and as far as i know he is on his own and possible may get picked up by Winston and friends later. Reason for that is Baptiste was orphaned after the Omnic Crisis which was the war Overwatch fought in lead by Jack Morrsion.

Doomfist, sigma and baptistes origin stories as so dope I love them.
I'm not sure if you guys remember or not but you've seen the Doomfist gauntlet before in a previous reaction you guys did titled "Overwatch Cinematic Trailer Reaction". This was the video where there we two kids in a musium and Reaper and Widow attacked it to get the gauntlet while Tracer and Winston protected the gauntlet and kids.

fun fact: ashe and the formally known as (mcree) now named cole cassidy actually started the deadlock gang together, thats why in the cinematic there was such like a moment in between them.
2nd sad fact: also his name was changed due to problems with him being named after one of the former employees (jesse mcree) who worked at blizzard got reports of sexual harassment, and they didnt want to associate with him anymore whatsoever. now you learned something

Brigitte is definitely my personal favorite of the Overwatch characters. Mercy and Reinhardt are my two favorites from the original lineup, and Brigitte is kind of a combination of the two of them. A sturdy badass warrior frontliner who focuses on supporting her allies, and it doesn't hurt that she's kinda hot lol. My favorite archetype in role-playing games has always been the paladin, the tanky healer...and that's my girl Brigitte in a nutshell! If I ever actually played Overwatch, I feel like she'd be pretty much my only pick ever lol.
It was fun to watch all of these! I'd only ever actually seen a couple of them, and it was neat to get to see where they all came from. Even though we kind of got some of his story in the background of others' videos, I'd really like to see a legit origin cinematic for Reaper. Cool stuff. :D
Once Blizzard eventually gets itself back on track, I'm really looking forward to all the new stuff to come out with Overwatch 2. They're so good at building worlds and filling them with interesting characters, and their animation department has always been one of the best in the industry. Can't wait to see what they give us next! :D
We were kind of disappointed that there was no Reaper origin story yet. But that just means when it comes we get to experience it with everyone else 😁🥳

It was revealed at some point that Sigma didn't actually know he was being used in the "evil" Talon organisation, Sigma is not an evil man, or at least he wasn't. They broke him out of the mental institute he was held in, so his fractured brain lached onto them, and he thinks that he is using them to accomplish his goals, when it's really the other way around.
Poor guy being used like that 😢
I like them, but I'd definitely say Sombra and Ashe are villains as opposed to in the middle. They both kill, manipulate, and destroy to get what they want directly at the expense of others. I've never thought about them as particularly grey; just more self-serving as opposed to being dedicated to a higher goal or organization.
Fair point. This is just from what we’ve seen of them as they seem to be not totally on board with Reaper and Widowmaker 🤗
So to sprinkle some extra goodies in. Moira made widow into the blue skinned murder machine she is. Also turned Reyes into reaper.

For sig if you watch his origin story backwards all the odd sounds are actually him speaking backwards.
If you like brig know that the community hated her for 2 years from her release. She was an unstoppable monster. She was a healer … but had a personal shield that gave her more effective health then most tanks… and when she did damage she healed herself so she could put dmg dps in 1v1 combat. Top it off on she gave 150 armor (over 50% of most character health) as an ult that as you got more of it the armor got better. Usually armor either takes off a small amount of the incoming dmg to act as better health. Her armor took off an additional and stacking amount. So with full armor from brig you took less damage outright on top of having 150 more health. She shaped the game for 2 years because of how strong she was. I miss her release power every day I play :’ (
They try to make the super nice likes or characters absolute pain in the asses in the game it seems 😂 because we also heard everyone hates Mei cuz she freezes people 😝

Speaking of tf2, i believe lazy purple( a super talented writer animator and tf2 player) has opened up reactions to his series called how it feels, and he goes through the tf2 classes i reccomend starting with spy and or scout first, cuz it starts going in a clip order starting with engineer, then to sniperr, then pyro, ending with demoman

For context brigette is torbjorn's daughter, but became great friends with reindhardt. (torb is the short guy, hes a super engineer)

For me the Ana Origin is my fav with Sigmas one. I mean she gave everthing to protect the ones she loved the most. An yet she faced Widowmaker and hesitatet for which reason ever. In game she has some voicelines about a male person (doesnt know his name anymore) but both seem familliar with him. Ana told her that he never loved Widowmaker in a real way. Maybe she hesitatet because they both know that person? However she lost her eye because she hesitatet an Widow didn´t.
Sigmas told the story what you earn if you play with things you cant understand or control. The match of unlimited Power results in a chaotic disaster for his mind. Fun fact. The Piano plays when you use his ult ingame. He lifts everybody in a great area up and smash them on the ground. They way they told his story with the voices in his head and the music. Gosh this was so awsome I get spinechills all over! Really creepy and tragic in some sort of way.

Like everyone a year ago, Sigma is my favorite. Its kind of mesmerizing watching him fall down the rabbit hole of madness, seeing the two sides of him. One obviously mad, but more in line with his original personality and one that just has all of this power and the mind to use it nefariously. One can't really tell which is the more lucid side really, because while one is obviously mad and almost incoherent with rambling thoughts, there is no telling what reality the alternate personality is living in, even though his thoughts appear more coherent, yet violent. Would that we could dive into the mind of a mad man.
Symmetra just hits different imo, she and widow has been my fav heroes since release

Not sure if it was mentioned but Ashe's voice actress is Jennifer Hale, the same woman who voices (female) Commander Shepard in the Mass Effect trilogy (and many many other characters as well) , another absolutely amazing game.
Not sure we knew that. Mass Effect is definitely in our bucket list of games to play 😀

Some backstory on Hammond
He was part of an experiment to see how apes (and a hamster) could develop their intelligence while on the moon. One day the apes faked a building malfunction and gathered all the scientists into the airlock before jettisoning them out into space.
Winston was the only gorilla to not partake, and actually had began building a ship to escape back to earth. Hammond made himself a pod to tag along with Winston. The cord keeping Hammond attached snapped and he crash landed in Junkertown, Australia. Hammond fashioned his pod into a spherical mech loaded with guns, a grappling hook made from the broken cord, and a voice translator since he can’t speak. He joined a fighting arena and became the champion without anyone knowing he was a hamster.

Even though I stopped playing overwatch after Echo's release - Sigma's orign story - is by far - still the best one. They really nailed the crazy / unpredictability.

If you guys do the original gameplay trailer #1 and #2 that came out when OW did, you'll see all the heroes that existed at that time (every hero since then has had an origin story). It shows their abilities and names and just kind of gives you at least a taste of who they are. The dwarfy guy is Torbjörn. He's close friends with Reinhardt. Brigitte is his daughter and Reinhardt is her godfather. Also, Ana's daughter is Pharah, who is a hero and is in the gameplay trailers.
We plan on checking those trailers out 😀

Last thing you need to react to is all of the Archives in-game Cinematics :) That is, if you don't read the comics as well. But the Archives cinematics are a HUGE part of the story, so watching all of them would give you a lot of interesting info.

@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames they're very cool but not on many watch lists for Overwatch for some reason! Though part of the story is told through gameplay, you get enough context from the start and end cinematics. They reveal a lot though :) so it's good to give them all a watch.

The distorted segments of the Sigma origin are the speech of his shattered personality, when played backwards. There's a vid that shows that it's VERY cool.

Neat little fact about Tracer and Soldier 76. Both are gay. Adds some interesting backstory. Doomfist the guy with the big robotic arm actually is missing that arm and the one you see him punching the prison wall with is a Prosthetic.

Basically theres a bad group known as Talon which consists of widowmaker, doomfist, sombra, reaper and Sigma, but in sigmas case as you saw hes not very stable and talon are basically using him as a living weapon
Seems like none of the talons really trust one another or operate as a team other than Widowmaker and Reaper 🤔

2:20, I think that 155 lb, comes from the fact that Junkys right arm and leg are prosthetics. So , maybe they don't count them?
probably plus he is pretty skinny. if u added about 20-25 lbs for the missing limbs thay makes him about 180-190 lbs which for a skinny 6"5 dude is fair
I am a little bit late, but there are actually hidden messages in Sigmas origin story if played backwards. You can also interpret a whole new story by the visuals that way
Just some facts: Ana is a mother to Pharah (rocket charakcer in game) .. In Moira origin you saw how Reaper was born.. Baptiste was a villan but he changed to a good guy after realising what he done.. Sigma is crazy dude who was tricked by bad guys to join them (thats why u hear reaper and widow shooting in the prison scene)...
Overwatch movie would be fantastic... They characters are very unique and story telling is insanely good for multiplayer game! :)

Like for real, They should really make an animated series at least. They can make it 3D if they like but I was in love with the whole doom fist animated version. I’m actually emotional when I see something sad, during the fight with doom fist ripping off tracers device, that hit me and was like nooooo! But yeah I’d love to see that happen sometime in the future when overwatch 2 comes out.
