To answer your question of where mcree was going, there was a set of comics over the last few months that explain it. He went to recruit new heros for overwatch, he recruited Baptiste, zarya, pharah, D.va(Hana song).
Couple things not mentioned. Moira (previous Blackwatch and future Talon member) was the one that saved Reyes AKA Reaper and was therefore partially responsible for his powers. And Mercy is the one that helped save Genji. McCree (now Cole Cassidy) went out to recruit more members for Overwatch. I'll also say I always find Widowmaker's story so sad. Brainwashed into killing your own husband in his sleep and then being turned into one of the greatest murderers on the planet is kinda crazy.. I hope they get her back to normal at some point, since it was shown in a comic that she still visits her dead husbands grave. Shows that there still a little bit of Amelie in there.
this was pretty good just missed a few little things cant remember if you saw them in the hero intro videos - moira the 4th member of blackwatch joined talon to do her unethical experiments without regulations, she's the one who made reaper like that - it didnt talk about how echo is created by mina liao and a copy of her personality but i think you saw that already in a different video - there's an ingame interaction where sombra says something like 'you won't believe the things i know about your employers' and symmetra says '..what have you heard', i think she doesn't fully realise the terrible things vishkar is doing, she's not actually a bad person. actually the one sitting at the talon council table with doomfist moira and maximilien is from vishkar also, so they're very corrupt - when ana faked her death she didn't even tell her daughter pharah about it so their relationship is a little strained, ana didn't want pharah to join overwatch to keep her safe

I think people are often a little harsh on Ana for faking her death and not returning to her daughter sooner. Something that puts it into perspective, however, is that she figured out what happened to Amelie Lacroix. Widowmaker was the one who injured her, taking her eye and effectively "killing her" as far as the public knows. Though seemingly of roughly equivalent skill, Ana hesitated to take her shot in their duel, because she recognized Amelie and understood what had happened. She realized that Talon had manipulated someone close to Gerard Lacroix as a means of killing him. "Widowmaker" was the aftermath of what happened to not just Amelie, but also Gerard. I think that's why Ana's decision to fake her death and stay away from Fareeha makes sense. She knows that if Talon is willing and able to do this to Amelie, what's to stop them from targeting her daughter in order to kill her next? The only thing she could do, at that moment, was to make Talon believe she was already dead.
i dont think that soldier 76 has a ego problem . I think that he feels a little betrayed. He was a leader and did all the right things and followed all the rules but still got branded as a criminal just because of what reaper did in blackwatch. What reaper did brought down overwatch and soldier to fight a former friend over something petty as leadership. I feel that he wants to stay as a vigilante because the law will never get things done the right way, sort of like batman. Got to take matters in your own hands. I would feel some type of way too if the citizens and organization I had fought and put my life on line for turn against me for something outta of my hands and control.
In a way I do agree in part of what you said but one needs to remember that 76 was the commander of overwatch and as the leader he still had the final say when it came to blackwatch operations. The fact was that he still let himself be convinced by Reyes on approving many of his operations and at the end of the day even though it was reaper that led the operations it was still 76 that was the overall leader of overwatch. Just like any general, political leader, or ceo of a major company when someone within the company does something shady a great deal of the blame will still fall on the person running the company/army/political party.
Except the whole point of Blackwatch was for Overwatch to have plausible deniability. So it would make no sense for Overwatch and it’s leadership to have any knowledge of Blackwatch’s missions.

Dr Mina Liao created Echo a highly adaptive AI as a secret project within Overwatch and Cassidy was protecting the “Project Echo”. When Overwatch was shut down they sent Echo to quarantine just in case she falls into the wrong hands, inside that train. That’s why Cassidy knew how to save Echo. Dr Mina Liao died in that explosion where the fight between Reyes and Morrison occurred. Moira joined Talon after Overwatch fired her for illegal experiments. She is the minister of Genetics in Oasis, a land made for Scientists. So she manipulated Reyes genetics to save him, making him Reaper. She is also responsible for the creation of Widomaker as well as the manipulation of Sigma. Winston’s capsule that helped him escaped was actually Hammonds creation. He is mad at Winston for stealing his idea and trying to escape all by himself. Winston said he had no idea it was his creation. Dva, Zarya, Pharah and Baptiste are some of the newest Overwatch member recruited by Cassidy
Overwatch lore is a superhero story we have seen in comics many times before, yet Blizzard made it so unique, I may have seen this type of story a million times yet I still want to see more!
Fans of Overwatch have been begging Blizzard for an Overwatch TV series for what seems like centuries now so yeah we all agree with you lol. A series could do very well like how Arcane is based in the world of League of Legends
Widow’s story lore is my favorite in ow. Her story is sad and she shows it in some of her voice lines with Moira (who made her what she is currently). There’s a voice line where Moira asks Widow how she’s feeling and widow responds “I don’t feel, that’s the point isn’t it ..” and it just feels bad because you notice that widow wasn’t really brainwashed as she knows what she’s done and she’s aware she was made into an emotionless killing machine.
I played the overwatch 2 beta and its pretty good some characters got some stats change, weapon funtions got change but some of them look the same/no changes

So gabriel was like "yeah youre right" and just shot him. and unlike mcree,moira and genji were supportive of the desicion, as for his position (if memory serves correclty) he resented morrison (76) for being the leader of overwatch but he honeslty was comfortable with his black watch position because hey " he wasnt the one they made a statue of" and he got along with the other mebers aswell even made there costume for halloween (example the get up he was wearing in the video wit he fancy skull mask and suit) so after the event and what has transpired you could say that, all the resentement was till buried but after the events that lead to black watch being found out and all those ripples overtime it just was finally brought it all up to the surface.
We still really dont know anything abot swiss base accident and there are more proves that it wasn't Gabe and not the other way. Even Michael Chu and Jeff have said that Jack and Gabe were good friends and gabe was even relieved after Jack became leader of the overwatch because "he did want all that paperwork so he was happy about Jack being the leader". So I'm really waiting for new info about the Swis base accident in any way (pve mission would be perfect). Oh and yeah forgot to say in in-game voice lines Jack and Gabe have no interactions like Jack saying that Gabe was the one that destroyed Overwatch and so on BUT Jack has some with Moira, him being furious and saying that recruiting moira was being the worst decision he made "she was disgrace for overwatch".
It would be great if they reacted to the skins of the characters since I saw that they liked the reaper skin that appears in the comic, and in many skins they are related to the story and could also react to the comics that delve into the stories of the characters like widowmaker, reaper, soldier 76, etc. that would give them more Overwatch content until the release of Overwatch 2.
Something wrong is that they say that Reyes was fond of Morrison for being chosen as leader, but in reality it is confirmed by Jeff Kaplan (former director of Overwatch) that it was the opposite, Reyes was happy that his best friend was chosen, this also meant having an important political position and Reyes didn´t wanted that responsibility Morrison also often defended the methods of Reyes while leading blackwatch and Jeff also said that they even loved each other
I feel like when it comes to story telling most people tend to look to books, series and movies (and rightfully so) like you said but why not games? Of course, Overwatch is a multiplayer shooter, not the kind of game that can carry a storyline on its own but if they were to make a new standalone game focused on lore and characters it would surely deliver. Finishing Mass Effect and The Witcher left me feeling empty like no movie ever did. Hell, The Witcher is a prime example of what I'm saying. Same universe, both made with similar budget and the game blows the show out of the water.

I don't know if they mentioned it but Echo is actually a creation of Mina Liao, the robotics scientist that Jack Morrison invited to join the original overwatch team. I believe it includes this information in Echo's origin story but I just wanted to include it here because its important.
I'm actually quite surprised when rewatching this, I didn't draw the connection upon Ramattra's recent release in OW 2. But the cutscene showing Doomfist talking to an "unknown Omnic" (as the narrator called him) is actually Ramattra. As a Zenyatta main it sometimes saddens me how little lore we actually got on the Omnic monk aside from; "He helped Genji to be at peace with himself." It's interesting though, with Ramattra's release into the game the two got interactions with one another, they actually refer to each other as "brother". (Also pretty funny, Mondatta, Zenyatta and Ramattra are / were all part of the same religion. Very creative naming there xD ). I just hope we get some more Zen content soon, out of every character I feel he got the least *actual* backstory. He's always chilling in the background when the original OW team gets shown but barely a word is lost about him. Like... How can we not talk about a robot that literally floats, yeets magic balls at you and seems to heal teammates / make enemies more susceptible to damage via the harmony and discord orb. Not to mention his ultimate which causes those spirit arms to appear and rapidly heal any teammates standing near you while making Zenyatta *invincible*. Give me my Zenyatta lore damn it D:

I would say this lore video covered just about everything except the most recent "New Blood" series which there is probably a video out there that covers. I would assume, based on the fact that they call him McCree versus Cassidy, that this video was made before that series, but it is also probably the most important non cinematic addition to the story.
you guys should really do more of these videos like with assassins creed or red dead redemption or you can always play the games but i really enjoy these types of videos😁
It should go without saying that I feel like the video was wrong with the reason why Gabriel (A.k.a Reaper) killed Antonio. It was because to show Talon that OW/Blackwatch can break the rules too just like they did as a response to the bombing of an OW HQ that paved the way for Retribution. It wasn't moreless corruption or wanting power like the video said since in-game Gabriel said he never cared for the attention and statues, but doing the covert work and keeping the peace without the public knowing of Blackwatch's existence. However Talon bombing an OW HQ. That was a personal last straw for Gabriel in terms of Talon harming those around him. And when it came to the fight between Jack (solider 76) and Gabriel It wasn't wanting power or corruption, but different viewpoints on how things were ran in OW leading to these events, along with the public pressure of protests which eventually led Gabriel and Jack to fight each other. There's a full 1 or 2 hour video on the COMPLETE Unabridged Timeline of Overwatch where it includes the comics, and laid out events. It's an enjoyable video since it lays out everything you need to know about OW and the timeline. I recommend you watch that on your own time to get a full picture

The story contains inaccuracies and personal conclusions of the author. Morrison and Reyes did not compete for the title of Commander. The causes of the explosion in Switzerland are not known. It cannot be argued that it was a "quarrel" between two friends.
Overwatch has always had some great cinematics. The game itself not my cup of tea. You know what is? Honkai Impact 3rd. Has best animated shorts ever! Not exagerating.

I think the problem with Widow Maker is she's that character that has a cool backstory but that's about it and you can't really change her because she would most likely swap sides and the series is choked with heroes as it is. That and her personality is kind of a lie. Like if you do that, she's brainwashed and is struggling with her personality thing, well she kind of killed the 1 guy that would have had the best chance to break her out of that in the first place which just turns her into a fleshy murder robot. Plus, an emotionless assassin isn't really a wealth of character development. But she's not remotely emotionless, smirking when tricking Tracer or taking satisfaction before a kill kind of puts the lie to that so I don't think Blizzard really had a plan for her beyond the backstory. I don't know I can't help but compare her to Agent 47 from the Hitman series who is that emotionless super assassin and she doesn't match up.
If Mina was not enabled to make the Omnics and advanced AI Overwatch would have never happened. This is ehyvyou don't mess with advanced AI. There's some games that do the opposite and know that making AI is never a good idea. Tbh alot of movies and games problems always begin when they start using advanced AI in robots lol.

You have to understand that Soldier 76 basically lost everything and was branded under a bad light. He is barely holding on by a string.
He should had refused the promotion of leadership and most things wouldn't had escalated.

Even Michael Chu and Jeff have said that Jack and Gabe were good friends and gabe was even relieved after Jack became leader of the overwatch because "he did want all that paperwork so he was happy about Jack being the leader". So I'm really waiting for new info about the Swis base accident in any way (pve mission would be perfect). Oh and yeah forgot to say in in-game voice lines Jack and Gabe have no interactions like Jack saying that Gabe was the one that destroyed Overwatch and so on BUT Jack has some with Moira, him being furious and saying that recruiting moira was being the worst decision he made "she was disgrace for overwatch".

It would be great if they reacted to the skins of the characters since I saw that they liked the reaper skin that appears in the comic, and in many skins they are related to the story and could also react to the comics that delve into the stories of the characters like widowmaker, reaper, soldier 76, etc. that would give them more Overwatch content until the release of Overwatch 2.

Something wrong is that they say that Reyes was fond of Morrison for being chosen as leader, but in reality it is confirmed by Jeff Kaplan (former director of Overwatch) that it was the opposite, Reyes was happy that his best friend was chosen, this also meant having an important political position and Reyes didn´t wanted that responsibility
Morrison also often defended the methods of Reyes while leading blackwatch and Jeff also said that they even loved each other
I feel like when it comes to story telling most people tend to look to books, series and movies (and rightfully so) like you said but why not games? Of course, Overwatch is a multiplayer shooter, not the kind of game that can carry a storyline on its own but if they were to make a new standalone game focused on lore and characters it would surely deliver.
Finishing Mass Effect and The Witcher left me feeling empty like no movie ever did. Hell, The Witcher is a prime example of what I'm saying. Same universe, both made with similar budget and the game blows the show out of the water.
So many games to movies have failed but games to TV seems to be the better formula. Hopefully Arcane success provided blueprint 🙂

I don't know if they mentioned it but Echo is actually a creation of Mina Liao, the robotics scientist that Jack Morrison invited to join the original overwatch team. I believe it includes this information in Echo's origin story but I just wanted to include it here because its important.
I'm actually quite surprised when rewatching this, I didn't draw the connection upon Ramattra's recent release in OW 2. But the cutscene showing Doomfist talking to an "unknown Omnic" (as the narrator called him) is actually Ramattra.
As a Zenyatta main it sometimes saddens me how little lore we actually got on the Omnic monk aside from; "He helped Genji to be at peace with himself." It's interesting though, with Ramattra's release into the game the two got interactions with one another, they actually refer to each other as "brother". (Also pretty funny, Mondatta, Zenyatta and Ramattra are / were all part of the same religion. Very creative naming there xD ). I just hope we get some more Zen content soon, out of every character I feel he got the least *actual* backstory. He's always chilling in the background when the original OW team gets shown but barely a word is lost about him.
Like... How can we not talk about a robot that literally floats, yeets magic balls at you and seems to heal teammates / make enemies more susceptible to damage via the harmony and discord orb. Not to mention his ultimate which causes those spirit arms to appear and rapidly heal any teammates standing near you while making Zenyatta *invincible*. Give me my Zenyatta lore damn it D:

Just hoping if u do Ninja Theory's DMC which is a reboot of the franchise that got mixed reactions but most original series fans dislike the rework of please do it as part of a separate journey. Its not cannon and will suck the air out of the room for the characters you have come to enjoy

I would say this lore video covered just about everything except the most recent "New Blood" series which there is probably a video out there that covers. I would assume, based on the fact that they call him McCree versus Cassidy, that this video was made before that series, but it is also probably the most important non cinematic addition to the story.

It should go without saying that I feel like the video was wrong with the reason why Gabriel (A.k.a Reaper) killed Antonio. It was because to show Talon that OW/Blackwatch can break the rules too just like they did as a response to the bombing of an OW HQ that paved the way for Retribution. It wasn't moreless corruption or wanting power like the video said since in-game Gabriel said he never cared for the attention and statues, but doing the covert work and keeping the peace without the public knowing of Blackwatch's existence. However Talon bombing an OW HQ. That was a personal last straw for Gabriel in terms of Talon harming those around him. And when it came to the fight between Jack (solider 76) and Gabriel It wasn't wanting power or corruption, but different viewpoints on how things were ran in OW leading to these events, along with the public pressure of protests which eventually led Gabriel and Jack to fight each other.
There's a full 1 or 2 hour video on the COMPLETE Unabridged Timeline of Overwatch where it includes the comics, and laid out events. It's an enjoyable video since it lays out everything you need to know about OW and the timeline. I recommend you watch that on your own time to get a full picture

I think the problem with Widow Maker is she's that character that has a cool backstory but that's about it and you can't really change her because she would most likely swap sides and the series is choked with heroes as it is. That and her personality is kind of a lie. Like if you do that, she's brainwashed and is struggling with her personality thing, well she kind of killed the 1 guy that would have had the best chance to break her out of that in the first place which just turns her into a fleshy murder robot. Plus, an emotionless assassin isn't really a wealth of character development. But she's not remotely emotionless, smirking when tricking Tracer or taking satisfaction before a kill kind of puts the lie to that so I don't think Blizzard really had a plan for her beyond the backstory. I don't know I can't help but compare her to Agent 47 from the Hitman series who is that emotionless super assassin and she doesn't match up.
Bummer. Wasted opportunity for a cool character ☹️
