great video! i just purchased an sd40 open box for $200 and I'm so excited to pair it with my df64!!
3:45 You should get a decent surge protector / power bar, you'll get more plugs but also might save your grinders or espresso machine if you get a power surge, I think a surge may have killed My Baratza Vario back in the day (had to replace the circuit board and it was alright afterwards) and have heard of others peoples grinders dying after their power went out.
Dude, where did you get those accessory holders that are stuck to your wall under your cabinets - I see a puck hanging from one of them! I need these things!
I got my SD40 from Joe and I LOVE it. Nice and small, quiet and good looking.
Good to hear!
Glad you like it!
Compared to something like the Fellow Ode (stock burrs), would the SD40 have higher body and more texture?
is there a video for the filter coffee tests? I've been looking for a grinder than can ans does primarily handle filter (moccamaster) and then on occasion, every other day do espresso and the SD40 vs the Baratza ESP-I can't make a decision :(
What container are you storing the beans in?
I’ve had the bolt come loose on the niche
Hello. Where can i get that vacuum coffee container. Thx
Great real video, apreciate the sincerity, i guess i would go for either one depending in my budget, i yhink there is no wrong choice in eitherone, thanks
What’s the name of the electric tamper ?
Meanwhile my KitchenAid coffee burr grinder at $200 makes fantastic espresso grind is 76db.
Show me another grinder quieter than this one please. I've been looking for another one but few videos do db tests of grinders and I've yet to find a quieter one.
Is there a bigger difference in the body of the drink between the integrated Breville grinder and the SD40 or between the SD40 and the Niche Zero?
I would like to know this as well
Awesome comparison
Sd40 superb
안녕하세요, 혹시 커피빈을 담아 두셨던 공기를 뺄 수 있는 그 용기는 어디서 구입 할 수 있나요?

아 이 영상은 Airscape 이네요
@@brewedbyjay 감사합니다!
Where can I find that electric tamper?
Be careful not to drop it in your lap
the real question is if waiting (way, way) longer and paying over double for the niche really brings you a cup you enjoy that much more than the sd40
check out the motor quality between the turin sd40 & niche.
you'll be amazed after looking at them and compared
@@bahtiarzulham so what does that better motor quality bring? More longevity? Sure.. Variable RPM? No.. All I care about is the taste in the cup, and if my sd40 lasts 3 years at its price vs the niche lasting 10 years at its price... give me the sd40.. and the distributor will actually allow me to order it whenever I want 🤣
@@bahtiarzulham what about the motor quality? Is Niche one much better?
what does he mean by retention?
Ground retention is when your grinder keeps some of your "in" dose (whole beans) in the machine, so beans can often get stuck in the burrs during the grinding process and make your "out" dose (ground beans) lesser than the whole beans that you weighed in the beginning! So if you weigh in a 20g dose, put that dose in your grinder, and end up with only 19.5 grams of coffee grounds, you have half a gram of retention! It's common with dull burrs, blade grinders, or conical burrs.
Is it just me or did he seem to prefer the SD40 better but couldn't quite say so?
Agreed. This was so painful to watch! He did everything he could to convince himself that the Niche grinder "is better", even after pulling a crappy shot that ran too fast with evident channeling going on all over the place.
@@poxcr I ended up buying the SD40, and frankly I haven't gotten great results, but that may be down to my old espresso machine which chokes on the finer settings. The coarsest setting that gets into the 25-30 second range comes out rather sour. The same beans through a professional flat-burr grinder comes out great, so its possible that conical burrs aren't for me. I just can't tell, being quite a novice.
17:03 literally said he prefers it
@@barjee8965 That's what he says, but his whole body language suggest something else, at least to me. At 23:49 he says "it's not about which grinder is better" and falls back on saying it's substantially cheaper. Anyway, I bought one. It has a very strong and quiet motor which I appreciate. I don't think it has nearly enough steps for espresso though, but I agree with him that for the price, it's fine.
SD 40 puck state, and got a cold before you use it not fair comparison
