the swan song of flying lizards, its their last race as a Porsche factory development team. Great video!
+nimrod74741 exhaust note and sound of a gt3 RSR back when they sounded good..?
The suspension view. Need more of that, thank you...
Hopi dances
Lol
There is no sound on this planet I like more than the song of a working transmission.
the ground shot that starts at 2:05 is sick. I love the physics part about racing and that shot captures a small part of it.
NO MUSIC!!!! I LOVE IT!!Gear heads wanna hear the motor! kudos!
Back when Flying Lizards was Flying Lizards. I was there watching live during their epic Laguna seca crash finish 👍
Damn, the driver is amazing. And this 911 is great as well.
Sounds like music to my ears. ! Love it !
I wish they could do the entire video with the camera feed that's on top of the car.
Great video to not only show the beast quality of 2.7k in the new Gopro, but also the improved sound quality and wind noise reduction. Thanks for showing this
Road Atlanta is one of my favorite all time raceways! Great vid!
Best video so far.
just to expand on this a little and if anyone is interested, in most race applications the gears in the transmissions are straight cut, and because of the way the gears contact each other they make a lot of noise. In consumer vehicles the gears are helical. If you've ever driven a manual car before, the majority of reverse gears are straight cut, and you'll hear this noise.
The first race car I ever heard/saw in person was a 996 GT3 at the 2000 Petit Le Mans.
It was a religious experience.
Thank you! It was AWESOME!
I love the wave when hes passing the other car.
I love the sound of a straight-cut transmission.
love the sound of that car so bad ass good job!!
want more videos like this ! it's amazing
beautiful sound ay
1:41 my favourite camera
Aaaah the sweet sound of straight cut gears !!!
The audio quality on these HERO3's are so much better than the HERO2's!
Does anybody here have a 2.7k monitor...?
maintenant oui j'espere que tu vas avec tt ce qui est dis sur toi
i could watch this all day>
Faszination pur! Super Video!
Such an awesome view of Road Atlanta. I was there for that entire event. I lost count of the GoPro's. To bad the GoPro trailer wasn't there.
It actually does go up to 4k, some videos allow you to view the video on 'original' resolution, which means it is more than 1080p
Between the sounds and the angles, that was frickin' sexy.
nice sound.....
I love the sound of straight cut gears :D
Yeah! Great video!
3:00 great shot... epic angle!
Awesome! Thanks for the ride. :-)
I love the sound of that gearbox...
I know it's easier said than done, but that looks like so much fun.
i looove the setup where you can see the brakes from the back !
yeah i noticed that all the sound was from inside the cabin. but for a gopro it picks it up very well. also i just noticed.. if you look at 1:44 you can see the onboard Gopro facing forwards. (top left on the roll bar) you can see it has no external mic.
Jorg is a beast!
This is how true racing movies should be! Just like Steve McQueen's Le Mans masterpiece. Real footage of real racing with no CGI nonsense or crappy pop music.
Look how beautifully clean the suspension is. 1:41
This looks incredible on Apple TV :)
GT2 and LMP1 multi class pactice session.
Higher resolution (2.7K in this case) scaled down to 1080p means more detail/sharpness than just a regular 1080p shot
Fuck music, When I want to get amped up for a workout, I listen to the sound of this Porsche. Gets my adrenaline JACKED UP!
Love the new Hero 3 Black! I use it on ALL my action Super Car Vids!
the hero 3 sounds a hell of a lot better than the first 2 cameras. I had a 2, and ended up getting a 3 when the 2 got lost with my model aircraft. Whatever they changed on the 3 though, it sounds unbelievable
the high pitched wining noise is not a turbo, it is the transmission gears
Do they use the gopro suction cup for this races? Im afraid to go out on the freeway with mine out haha. How much can i trust my suction cup?
+unityelt - original go-pro suction > 100% safe. China replica - 0% safety. Put a duck tape over it and drill a hole and sheet metal screw. Still will loose it.
triple suction cup on amazon for 50usd.
+Laszlo Makrai yeah this is an old comment haha. I bouth the original go pro suction mount us good uo to 150 mph.
thanks for the answer!
the one in the back, left corner is- look at 1:00 (its attached where the white roll bars are).. the one in front is hard to make out but most likely is there
Love the finger!
it depends on what im doing but when its dry i use the non-waterproof door. i just have 1st gen GoPro so it could also be that!
Thanks xxx
thank you that was a brilliant answer
It's a Le Mans race. There are two different classes running on the track at the same time. It's pretty cool, look it up.
These cars race in classes - together. Its pretty much the GT cars (Porsches, Ferraris, BMW's, etc) that race against each other, while at the same time the purpose-built alien-looking race cars (LMP cars) have their own battles - all of this is happening on the same track all at once. This is a practice session anyway, which is more for testing out tires and whatnot, not about overtaking. Flying Lizard has a great ALMS history, i wouldn't worry about how many cars they can pass in practice.
Shot 100% on the HERO3®
There is minimum 1 Hero2, you can see one on the left at the roll-cage when they show the driver...
Impressed by the sound.. is this stock sound recording.. or some fancy external microphone?
In the 'GoPro' context, 2.7K relates to the shooting quality. The new Hero 3 cameras shoot in 2.7K, 4K, and more.
Simple terms:
2.7K=2700p
4K=4000p
Good thing the GoPro camera's work in these cars. More than I can say for all the Hero3 owners out their experiencing crashing and freezing !!...Way to go GoPro...Denial Mode off (on)
It doesn't matter. Cropping it down will only improve quality for those that have 1080P+ monitors eg: 2560x1440, or 2880x1800 on the retina MBP
I think even though its resized(most likely during editing) you still have that quality resolution that the camera picked up while it was shooting @2.7K. If that makes sense.
They have multiple cameras inside the car. They have the ones for the live feed that they use on television and also cameras for the team. Then they have GoPros mainly because of sponsors.
And I was at this race- HD in person.
sound is much better then on goPro 2, what type of grip under car?
ROAD ATLANTA!!!
you can upload videos in 2K and 4K to UA-cam. for some reason though, GoPro decided not to
I'm pretty sure that's the thing on the ceiling to the left of those LEDs.
this needs to get to racing sim developers as an example of how it should feel to really drive a car like this!
dude imagine being the driver of one of these... this is awesome.
For a pro it's normal because they do it everyday. Their mind will even wander and think about what to get at the grocery store.
AWESOME
nice got paddle shifters i bet that feels pretty comfortably driving, ive never used them before but want to
UA-cam supports 4k video.. some videos have the "original quality" above 1080.. takes forever to load tho
the sound of straight cut gears
Man I miss Bergmeister and the Flying Lizards.
@spadekinglively this is a multi class race, to where there are, in racing class, R3 and R1 race cars both sharing the track, R1 being the low, more formula looking cars. Plus, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this Road Atlanta?
yep. My monitor is 2880-by-1800... about 100px wider than 2.7K.
What microphones do you use? very good sound quality!
yes ! top left corner ;)
yes.
I think it's actually Jorg Bergmeister driving. They do have very similar helmets but pat long is a bit shorter.
Both are still very, very good drivers
Sick!
Not 100% sure, but 1080p is the UA-cam's maximum quality allowed. Videos that are bigger will be resized to fit this maximum resolution!
that's what i think sometimes also. every now and again my camera sounds good but overall not nearly this good, also it clatters around inside the case which is super loud in the video.
Hey Go Pro , what editing software do you use in all your videos , such as your trailers and videos like this
Someone from FLM care to explain why the display sitting on top of the center of the dash is flopping around/loose? Looks like a rear view camera display but you have a traditional mirror in the usual position.
Also: You show that Matmut driver who's number one Jörg :)
The middle one might be for TV coverage or for timing purposes
the sound was most likely recorded seperately, to be honest, by a high quaility recorder, at the end of the video, with the suspension shot, is the real sound quality
Then which videos don't allow you to view the videos on "original" resolution?
You're talking about UA-cam videos, right? Can you please send me a video on UA-cam that has the "original" quality higher than 1080p? I'm really excited to watch one! :D
oke i know now really sure i am gonna buy the black edition !
so it`s well in the specs! 2,7k actually IS 2716 x 1524 if it is 16:9 or 2716 x 1440 if it is 17:9 ... so there are some monitors out there which can at least show all lines ;-) since 2560 x 1600 is quiete common these days...
First advertise on youtube I've liked to watch..
but what if your monitor only goes up to 1080p? will it still look like 4k or what? because i dont know anyone that has a 4k monitor lol
I don't think your tv has a higher resolution than 1080p. But this will be different in the future and if you can record things now for the future why not?
You can actually SEE the GoPro in different shots of the video.
Just the shots from the dashboard confuse me 2.
i cant even imagine
This isn't Rolex (Grand-Am), it's American Le Mans. But yeah, both series follow the same multi-class system. The cars that were passing the Flying Lizard here were in the LMP classes and if you watch Grand-Am or ALMS for no more than 10 minutes, you learn that the prototype classes lap the GT guys a lot.
1080p is the highest UA-cam can support.
cool to see a paddle car with a clutch, especially a car like that.
