  • May 20, 2016 - May 22, 2016 - The 66th annual Miles City Bucking Horse Sale featured five wild horse races. In a wild horse race eight teams are in the arena at once. Each three-man team consists of an anchor, mugger, and rider. They aim to saddle a wild horse, get their rider aboard, and cheer him around the track and back into the arena.

    This is actually a reasonable thing for people to get mad about.

    I wonder how many horses get injured and are then terminated or straight out die because of these events....and what market could there be for a horse trained in such a manor....I would venture to guess very little aside from testing their luck at the following events until there bodies give out only then sent to slaughter....

      These horses aren’t being stereotypically “trained.” This isn’t a clinic, it’s a rodeo event. Their market value is in whether or not they buck and how challenging of an animal they are for the contestants to do what they signed up to do. When they’re not kicking and bucking for no more than a 5 minute workday, they are eating and being well cared for by their specific stock contractor. And a side note, feedlots and slaughterhouses don’t take injured and crippled animals. So even if they were injured here they likely still wouldn’t go to a can.

      I see plenty of well fed, well cared for, slicked off animals with a JOB. But I suppose even a horse with a job is cruelty these days.

    Sorry tree hungers but this is history, and this is how the Cowboys did it back in the day, so we do this to remember our true Cowboys. Without ur ancestors u would not be here and our would have never gotten to where it is today because the horse pretty much built history. Have some respect . I'm sorry it's not a perfect world. If u don't like it and too soft hearted about it, don't watch it.

    how to fucking traumatize a horse forever and risk killing horse and rider. all it takes is one wrong move and it all goes to shit. where do these horses go after this bullshit? do you really think a horse that's gone through this terror will ever accept a saddle and rider? it'll take forever to undo this trauma. fucking disgusting.

    What a terrible event. That is not sportsmanship. I own a wild mustang and THAT is not how you handle them or any horse. Very sad that men have to behave in this manner. I think they need to take some horsemanship lessons. Very poor example of the horse and man relationship.

      This is a rodeo event. These horses aren’t mustangs, but largely unhandled critters brought in by the stock contractor. They are domesticated, just unhandled horses with zero ridden experience. This isn’t a clinic.

    Everybody calm down. This is a sport that has gone back a long time. It is not cruel and so many steps are taken to ensure that the horse is never harmed and if it is the team is instantly disqualified. The men never intentionally cause the horse harm. I would say that all these men have done this countless times and they are in so much more danger than the horses. I personally think this is a very high energy sport and a lot of fun to watch. It is in no way cruel. The horses are perfectly fine. So stop treating them like delicate show horses, they are wild, tough animals and they can handle it.

    • @AnimalLeftist
      @AnimalLeftist 7 років тому +2

      Another chronically concussed rodeo supporter types. This "sport" goes back to the good old days, as in, the 1960's. YOU need an adrenaline rush. The horses? Notsomuch. "The men never intentionally cause the horse harm." No, they simply panic them. Fear is worse than pain, to prey species. But you wouldn't know that, would you....
      I've seen videos, on you-tube, of horses being killed by running into each other, during this stupidity. Lamed, maimed, never ever trusting humans again. But the slaughter pipeline will LOVE to see these horses, for their last trip through the chutes.
      yeah. Hit yourself on the head again. It doesn't hurt you, at all.

    • @LazyKMOverBarHorsemanship
      @LazyKMOverBarHorsemanship  7 років тому +5

      +AnimalLeftist These horses aren't being beaten or thoroughly abused. They could be way more worse off than they are. As of now, they have slick coats and are fed. That is a lot compared to a lot of horses around the world. This particular event doesn't benefit the horses mentally or physically, but that doesn't mean that it is abusing them either.

      Katelyn Matzen
      , until they're shipped to slaughter. What other future do these horses have? Won't they enjoy that last trip through the chutes. You do realize dog-fighters also keep their fighting dogs in top-shape? If they aren't fed, they don't fight back. At least you admit there is no "benefit" to the horses. There is definitely a huge cost to them, as they are forced to fight back against poor handling. That's all this is, you know. My old school-horses would have run away from this kind of handling too. Crazy apes, sorry, apes aren't crazy. Crazy humans.

    the only people who would do this are idiots who thinks that pain is how to take an annual an its so stupid and arrogant . let alone very unsafe for the horses.

  • @TreeFallFree

    It shocks me that this kind of idiotic, rough treatment to animals is legal. It saddens me as well that so many people take such delight in watching the purposeful, deliberate brutalization of panicked horses.

    • @LazyKMOverBarHorsemanship

      I would be surprised if the participants' medical insurance didn't drop them if they knew they took part in this. This is a dangerous event, and people and horses alike can get hurt when it takes place. It is a crowd favorite because of the action; the people don't cheer for injuries. These guys are competing in a luck of the draw type situation where the most efficient team gets the gold. They don't try to harm the horses, they are trying to get a horse with zero riding experience to cooperate with them for a short amount of time.

    • @TreeFallFree
      @TreeFallFree 7 років тому +4

      I would suggest it is not at all about co -operation, which takes time and patience,and horsemanship, and training, which requires incremental steps, but is about overpowering a fearful animal at any cost. The crowds seem to really get off on violence to animals. A horseman would never do this to a horse he or she cared anything about or had any value to him. I do not believe a horseman would do this for any reason.

    • @LazyKMOverBarHorsemanship
      @LazyKMOverBarHorsemanship  5 років тому

      Did I say that these guys were horsemen? These are contestants at a rodeo event. They’re in it for money, fame, recognition, and a huge adrenaline rush, competing against themselves, the other teams, the clock, and luck of the draw on whether they get a good enough horse to do the job. If you’re interested in horse training I’d suggest you check out the other 500+ videos on my channel. Thanks.
