    I know I am a broken record on this, but this was yet another very interesting very informative very well thought out video on an item that a select few people will be interested in but the people who are will be thrilled at this resource. Thank you very much for your hard work and not making an unnecessary Daniel defense or Springfield echelon video.

    Incredibly thorough, but without wasting any time. Great video. Supposedly a non-chrome lined barrel offers better accuracy. For a military weapon, a baseline is needed, but accuracy isn't as important. I really question what HK was factoring when determining whether or not to chrome line them. I hear they use an incredibly high quality steel, so maybe we are all over thinking this and maybe it really just isn't necessary.

    A very interesting video! Thanks for the excellent material collected!
    I have a new HKmr223A3 in Germany (civilian version of the HK416 a5) and they have a chrome-plated gun barrel line .
    And it's super accurate! lapua sleeve , Sierra match king bullet 77 gr - 840 meters per second , my cartridge assembled for a specific barrel , stably gives up to 1 moa ( usually 0.5 -0.7 ) at 100 meters .
    But there is a problem! The 16.5 to gas block has a 23 mm diameter and the cannon weighs 3.8 kilograms . I know shooters who change them to a lighter profile, stainless steel from Lothar Walter.( they make them to order in Germany )They are also very accurate , but not durable!
    Interestingly, the new 308 НKmr308a3 has a chrome-plated barrel! Which is quite rare for DMR rifles .

      Thank you for watching, I'm glad you found the video interesting!
      Thanks for posting that information on your MR223, I hadn't seen too many accuracy tests with it so hearing it can fire 1 MOA groups is really good. I knew the MR223 had a larger barrel diameter but I didn't realize it was 23mm, that's an extremely heavy barrel profile and I'm surprised HK went with something so large.

      @@Feldmutze I also don 't understand why HК chose this option!Of course, it is very accurate and keeps the temperature for a long time because of the size, but the rifle came out heavy ! And all the weight is in the front and it makes it even harder to carry . But this is the only negative! Everything else is of super quality. I like the new RAL8000 color. In addition, in Germany it costs 2,300 euros , for Europe, it is a good price.For example, Daniel Defense costs 2700-3300 euros.
      Good luck to you! We will continue to monitor your progress!

    Ran the MR556 as a rental at my last job. Had three come through and none of them lasted more than a few months. Every one of them was throwing rounds downrange sideways. In comparison, we had a Barrett REC7 piston gun that had 7 years as a rental by the time I left in 2020. The Barrett is still going strong after nearly a decade as a rental.

    • @Feldmutze
      @Feldmutze  11 місяців тому

      From what I've read, that can be remedied on the MR556 by thoroughly cleaning the barrel with a copper solvent, but regardless that's interesting that it started happening after only a few months. That's another pretty big reason I wanted to switch to a chrome-lined barrel.

    The ‘nefarious arms barrel’ IS an HK barrel. It’s simply a factory mr556 barrel that’s been chromed and refinished by nefarious. So the effects you’re seeing on accuracy are simply from chrome lining the exact same barrel

    • @Feldmutze

      @@Feldmutze If you watch @9HoleReviews test of the MK12 SPR accuracy they get around 1.5-1.7 MOA 9 shot groups with a heavy stainless match quality barrel and Mk262 ammunition which means this lightweight chromed barrel is shooting to that level. For a barrel of that profile on a piston rifle I would call that acceptable. I own five ar15 rifles two di and three piston and only a DD gov profile Mid-Length chrome lined barrel is sub moa. Go figure, you really just never know from one gun to another just by looking at specs on paper.

    Hey man another great video, I was just curious if you know the manufacturer of the barrels. I somewhat doubt that Nefarious makes them in house, as they usually do more general machining work, and considering that chrome lining is quite rare in the industry and reserved to more respected and higher end manufacturers, I'd assume that Nefarious sources their barrels from somewhere else.
    I have also heard from somewhere that the OEM HK 416 barrels (Not MR556) have a slight taper to them, leading to greater accuracy. Do you know if the Nefarious barrel has this too?
    Either way, really enjoyed your video. You bang out some good stuff consistently. And its funny how your often your niche interests line up with mine.

    • @Feldmutze
      @Feldmutze  10 місяців тому +1

      Thank you! I'm unsure of who exactly does the chrome-lining for Nefarious Arms, but based on their previous posts it sounds like it's done out-of-house, with barrel profiling and finishing being done in-house by Nefarious themselves.
      The OEM 416 and MR556 barrels actually both have a slight taper to them towards the last few inches. Generally, I don't think the Nefarious Arms barrels have the same taper, however, since the specific barrel I have in the video is a chrome-lined MR556 barrel, this one might still have the taper, but it's hard to tell for sure without some tools and gauges that I don't have.

    Hey Jang-gun, I've been watching your videos for a little while now and I really want to know where you got your Feldmutze caps in the different camo patterns and without the Bundeswehr patch on them. I also am a fan of wearing the M43 style hats, I wear the Verikauha Field Cap made by Varusteleka daily, and until I found your channel I had no idea you could get those. Do you buy surplus ones and just remove the patch? Is there a website that you buy them from and I just somehow haven't stumbled across it in my search? Thank you for your time, keep up the great work.

      I get most my Feldmütze from Fritzsch KG either from their eBay or from ASMC. Most mine did have the Bundeswehr patch to start, so I just manually remove the patch when I get it.
      You can also watch slangvel's store on eBay. He custom-makes hats and pretty frequently makes M41 style hats (not sure if he does M43) in all sorts of camo patterns.

      Don’t understand how you can assess barrel attributes in terms of accuracy with that EoTech. Don’t get me wrong, I own a few, but would it have been too hard to temporarily throw an LVPO on it for assessing barrel differences?

    • @Feldmutze
      @Feldmutze  11 місяців тому

      @@Feldmutze Well, aside from a 50 meter test being suspect, an LPVO reticle offers a much much precise aiming point. It’s obviously a better approach. Anyway, thanks for the review, but I can’t say I learned much considering. I don’t think I have ever seen an accuracy assessment made at 50 yards with a red dot or holographic sight until this.

  • @Cubic_3
    @Cubic_3 11 місяців тому +1

    Thank you for sharing! Just wondering, how are you getting the MOA number? At 50yard, the MOA should pretty much be just double of the inch number. Ex) 2MOA at 50yd is 1" at 50yd.

    • @Feldmutze
      @Feldmutze  11 місяців тому +1

      It's a little weird as the calculator I use requires the extreme spread to be measured from outer edge to outer edge. So every extreme spread I show in the video includes the bullet diameter as a result, then the equation subtracts the bullet diameter of 0.224 (in this case) and calculates the MOA.

    Another quality video, loved the shooting portion and clear data👍🏻👏🏻👍🏻👏🏻 really love the way your mr556 came out,i hVE a soft spot for ral 8000s mr 556s even though I am not a fan of hks short stroke gas system and it less than stellar or overall efficacy within the ar platform and it’s unwarranted hype.
    1.7 moa with sierra 77grain is really disappointing unacceptable, and when you factor in the amount of money for an mr556 combined with the money spent for customizing it it’s even more disappointing and unacceptable for what it is.
    btw who is putting super high round counts on their Uber collectible mr 556? Especially now that hk can no longer import them anymore and have been put on an atf ban list, in reality it’s a collector gun and this test kinda proves it not the greatest work horse that’s will deliver 1 range to sub moa accuracy with different round types and isn’t delivering high quality results with the finest ammos in the game.
    `where a geissle upper at half the price will deliver you 3/4 moa results withnsierra matchking with a far more subtle, non violent recoil impulse-minus the ball pin hammer smack recoil of the hk 416/mr 556.

    • @Feldmutze
      @Feldmutze  9 місяців тому

      Thank you! Ever since I saw a video of the G95K a few years back I started to really like the whole RAL-8000 look too.
      On the 1.7 MOA with the 77 gr. STMKs, I’m not sure what it is but I’ve consistently had them shoot worse in all my rifles compared to the 69 gr.
      As for the round count, you’re mixing up the MR223 with the MR556. The MR556 is manufactured by HK USA off some HK German parts, but all those parts are still coming in and aren’t currently having any issues with ATF so they’re still readily available. The MR223 is the one that was banned, which was the HK European civilian market version. The MR223 was being imported as a pistol and ended up in a weird legal gray area which then eventually got it banned. Furthermore, the MR223 comes with a chrome-lined barrel straight from HK, whereas the HK USA MR556 is the one that has a non-chrome-lined barrel.
      Although there is more reciprocating mass with a short stroke gas piston compared to DI, I really prefer piston especially as I’ve been getting more into suppressors. The difference in how much gas ends up back by my face is significant and is worth the tradeoffs in my opinion.

    I’m sure you know this but MR in MR556 stands for Match Rifle, a chrome line barrel is never as accurate especially up against a match grade barrel which a MR is. With the right ammo your off the shelf 16” mr556 is submoa. Guys get wrapped up in the chrome line, it has nothing to do with reliability it has to do with longevity. Socom went to HK told them what they needed, among that was a barrel that did not have to be changed from workups to deployment. From HK themselves a true 416 chrome lined barrel is go for 60k plus. Sorry but their is no on on this side of the line shooting 30k in ammo without sponsors. I’ve owned and shot them all, by far my most accurate and favorite is my older MR556 heavy barrel cut down to 10.4 it will consistently hit 12x18 steel at 400 yards with 77g…

    • @Feldmutze
      @Feldmutze  7 місяців тому

      Yeah I mentioned a lot of those points in this video. I haven't heard that 60k round count number before though, is that based on a certain MOA that it opens up to at that point or is it based on something else? 30K is a lot of ammo, but especially if you're doing a lot of classes with the rifle it's not infeasible to reach 30K on it at some point.
      Did you see any loss of accuracy with your cut-down MR556 barrel? I've heard some people mention that since cutting down the barrel removes the swage that HK puts at the very end, that you don't see as tight of groups.

      @BrokerByTheBullet No problem!
