- Schecter Custom 2 Solo: Beauty AND Beast!!!
Believe it or not, I have never ever played a Schecter guitar! No music stores near me or that I've ever spent any time in have carried them. So this is my first time with a Schecter!
Thanks to Earle Teat Music in Delmar Delaware for loaning me this!

Good video! Enjoyed.
Glad you enjoyed it! Have a great weekend!
Schecter makes a high quality guitar and a ton of value with great quality control.
So it seems!
The purple Wolfgang next time you do play it, for the cartoon fans who don't have a special place in their hearts for grape ape and the u f.o fans who didn't have a special kind of love for the one eye, one HORN , flying purple people eatter!! You can use my joke word for word . Better 20 people laugh than 2 over here !! Love you all and have a blessed day!!!!!
Purple for the win! 😜 have a great weekend!
I went looking for a retirement gift to myself, D28 , well the multiple models confused me! Now I own 42 guitars but no Martin D 28 ! Bought a Takamine in 1978 from pawnshop in Oceanside California in 1978, still my most prized possession! 1972 laminate model !
Takamine has always punched above their weight
Happy Friday Alan 🍺.
You too Gary! You get that bloody record mixed yet? 🍻
@@GearGasms nearly 😬🫣. I'll send you a copy one day.🤣
Beautiful finish on this guitar and it sounds great. I'm not an L P. guy but always wanted a Strat with a Burl top.
Yeah its definitely got personality!
Dry AF sounds pretty bad ass. Those is hot P'ups.
Rock On Allan
Yeah I was surprised since they were PAF based
Beautiful burl! Love Schecter they make amazing axes. 12:02 sounds like you’ve been watching my vids 😂
I do! Lol
@@GearGasms vids are not made for children.

Solo II playingwise and qualitywise is like a cross between a Les Paul and an Eclipse. ESP/Ltd's parent company is World Music, Inc., who purchased Schecter decades ago to rescue it from financial trouble. The general family resemblance between the brands now is fairly obvious and Schecters (except for some California-made top-of-the-line and custom-shop units) are built in the same Korean and Indonesian factories as ESP/Ltd, as well as some other World Music Inc. brands we know. But that's another long story. I have on old Schecter PT Saturn from their early pre-bankruptcy days when they were an American company based in Dallas. They were an authorized manufacturer of Fender replacement bodies and necks, which led to partscaster kits, which led to assembling their own kits inhouse using quality components and letting certain dealers do it too under a contract arrangement. The PT (some say that means Pete Townshend, who played a couple on stage) was their first complete 'production' model and put Schecter on the map. They were not inexpensive to buy considering the prices of the time for Teles, Strats and Les Pauls. I lucked into a deal on one from Rockley's Music in Denver in '90. Fantastic, beautifully made guitar, still plays and looks great to this day. Mine's got splittable humbuckers and a FR-style tremelo, really one of the first production Super Teles. Today, if I didn't have an Ltd 256 already I'd be jonesing for a modern-era Schecter Solo II Custom, and still hope to have one before I die if I run across the right deal. In the meantime I'm very happy with my old PT and highly recommend Schecter guitars. They're still not inexpensive for the 'nice' ones but they give you a lot for your money at every price level. I think their Asian built C-series guitars are equivalent to PRS SE. Thanks for this review, Alan!
Eminence Front was the first time I saw that tele and I loved it! Thanks for the killer history!
@@GearGasms Welcome. Some of my background info comes from their current tech and service manager in SoCal. Not really the same company today that built my Schecter well over 30yrs ago but they are holding up the same tradition of quality and value. And you can still get a PT that's very similar to the first ones they made. They've probably sold a million guitars, who knows? Mine's number 334.
I can’t wait for your vids to drop on Friday. Curious what kind of practice routine do you have? I’m 50 and just started playing and it’s so hard to find time.
Oh gosh! Practice? Routine? Oy. I wish I had one and I’m trying but with a full time job it’s almost gotten to where I only play when a camera is rolling and it shows. But finding the time is one challenging and actually practicing instead of the mindless noodling I do is a bigger challenge! Welcome to the family and just play what’s in your heart!
Thank you. Well you rock man. Love the channel. My wife says we have the same humor. Haha.
@Tcrunk365 it’s a Gen X thing!
Alan,
I see you've hit upon a winning formula! Use easily-recognizable copyrighted music, but play it badly enough that UA-cam will never figure it out!. Well done. Rock on my dude! Damn that guitar is funny looking? But cool in a strange way.
It’s like me then lol
Sounded best through the Fender amp... :p That is a nice guitar, no doubt. :)
Really? I’ll have to watch this tonight. We usually will have family torture time where I make them watch this weeks video. lol I’ll listen out for it
You're right, the wood alone on this thing is worth a grand. (No, I'm that other David Gilmour)
How tired do you get of having to make that distinction? Lol. And yes it’s got nice tree in this one!
@@GearGasms I'm changing my name. My dad had enough disappointment in his life.
@davidgilmour9447 figured by now you’d be comfortably numb 😜
I’m a Schecter fanboy and that one has a beautiful top. I know it’s not logical, but I am just a hard “no” on the Les Paul shape. Also just curious if you got around to checking out my kids playing on their UA-cam channel? Have a great weekend Alan.
I want to say I did but I can’t swear to it. Can you leave me a link?
@@GearGasms I actually had to take my son to an interview at my local guitar store today and they had this exact same guitar model in stock and that top is stunning in person. It could almost make me get over my Les Paul aversion. Here is the link to my sons’ (plural) UA-cam channel…youtube.com/@naturalhabitatband?si=iftOjTCfhkP8j_VM
They do decent on their cover songs, but my favorite is “Instrument of Azreal” which is a song my oldest son wrote. He plays lead guitar and my youngest son plays drums.
I like how they have two singers prowling the stage and banging their heads! Subbed just for the Sad But True vid!
