    Of all the techniques in this vid, the stop kick might be the most effective. Connor McGregor has relied on that kick in most of his professional fights. That kick creates distance and also wears down the opponent's legs. A well-placed stop kick to the knee can do serious damage.

    Thank you for your precious information, that my main tactic to destroy limb before attacking the head and body. Can you also do a fast backing movement or balance your upper body back when cashing your opponent legs? Able to hit his under upper leg with a reverse back knuckle?

    Always liked the way 'trad' (oh the irony) JKD looks - the old Vunak and Dan Inosanto/Young/Breen stuffs. But it's kind of been totally been left in the shadows by MMA hasn't it? Or perhaps there is still some useful weapons or SD stuff in there? I'd like to believe that, but not so sure.

    The greatest destruction is what Weidmann did to Silva's leg. Weidmann was literally taught the destruction technique by his striking coach who has JKD background.

      Jovan Leon it seemed like a freak accident. Are there any other instances of fighters consistently breaking legs with this method? Did Weidman break other people's legs with this method?

    • @jovanleon7
      @jovanleon7 5 років тому

      @@MartialVillager Not an accident. Weidman said that his coach also broke someone's leg like that in a sparing. Although Chris might not intended to literally break Silva's leg like that but he knew that it could happen because it has happened before. The purpose of the destruction technique is to literally destroy the opponent's attacking limb.

    • @ChineseAndFilipinoMartialArts
      @ChineseAndFilipinoMartialArts 5 років тому

      @@MartialVillager The way he checked was a limb destruction. Longo said it himself. Obviously the break was the break but the intent was there.

    This stuff doesn't work unless the opponent has zero respect for you, stands in front of you, knows little and is completely immobile. Getting this close to an opponent on the street could be a disaster and this stuff doesn't work well or at all with large opponents where getting grabbed or held down is the last thing that you want...

      Like many Silat/Kali techniques they work off committed attacks,as if someone was attacking with a weapon (no one pokes with a knife then attempts a big slice). If the jab was quick,he would work off a committed cross and be ready for a follow up lead hook,he has great martial art knowledge and experience:)

    As a very well respected Law Enforcement instructor once said, “ Show me ONE fighter, regardless of style, western Boxing, Kick Boxing, MMA, May Thai, Full contact Karate, etc, WORLDWIDE, who fights for a living, for money, that fights this way? Let me save you some time. Answer: THERE ARE NONE. You can make the argument that these are sports and attempt to find comfort in that, but the reality is they are all professional combat contests where the objective is to knock the other dude out. And that having been said, no one that makes a living fighting, fights this way. It just won’t work in reality. The main reasons for this are twofold. One, the man conducting the demonstration knows exactly what the attacker is going to do before he does it. The attacker is very straightforward, is not fighting at full speed, and is not faking in anyway. I have kickboxed and engaged in full contact karate for years and been involved Law Enforcement and the martial arts for over 40 years. The easiest opponent to defeat is one who relies almost exclusively on blocking and trapping as his primary defense. Such an opponent is very susceptible to a fake and will move his hand or arm or attempt to trap in the direction of the fake, leaving them completely exposed to the real attack without any time to react due to the close quarters distance. Second, when fighting an extremely powerful man even if you guessed right and block, in order for a hard block to be effective you have to set yourself which means you’re standing right there in front of your opponent and you’ve done nothing to move your head out of the line of fire. If you opponent is a big bruiser of the guy and he throws a committed haymaker he may crash right through your block and take your head off anyway. This stuff makes for great demonstrations looks cool sounds good, but the reality is if you try this stuff in the street you’re going to get the shit kicked out of you. If you want to learn how to fight seek out the advice of either a professional fighter, a former professional fighter, or someone who has trained or still trains professional fighters.

      You're totally correct.
      One or two of these things can work,like a stop-kick to disrupt the timing,but a proper kick can break your arm or leg.

      Really? ever see a professional fighter try and catch a May Thai kick straight on with his forearms like this guy demonstrated? Never , not unless he wanted a broken arm or two. In fact, just as i said before you will NEVER see ANY pro using this stuff. If it was so effective it would have found it's way into the professional fight seen in one form or another. @@piedpiper9286

    The destruction techniques are Filipino panantukan techniques that inosanto introduced into jkd to a certain degree. I'm sure wing Chun have some that wasn't demonstrated to the public. But looking at wing chun, to me I feel that panantukan is what wing Chun had evolved to. But we'll never know since ip man never found a successor after Bruce Lee passed.
