    Seeing a 94% div yield is the biggest red flag I have ever seen for a company from a modern standpoint lol

      Why exactly don't have too good of a buisness mind could you explain

    • @iamcool544
      @iamcool544 2 роки тому +9

      @@baseupp12 higher dividend yields are given for two reasons, to reduce tax liability for the issuing company and to entice people to buy the stock. Modern high div yields are like 4-5% on companies in good standing.
      A company with anything higher than that typically has such poor underlying fundamentals that it's trying to compensate by having a high div to appear attractive. Like 12% is a pink sheets company with 50 employees and an unknown market cap.
      94% div yield? That's a shack in the woods with 1 guy running it XD, basically you can expect that company to fold at any time taking all the value of the stock with it.

      @@iamcool544 Plutocracy bases its dividend yield percentage as a percentage of the total profits, not the share price, very big difference.

      @iamcool544 Рік тому +1

      @@someonesilence3731 that's how dividends are irl too. They are often expressed as a percentage of the share price but the dividend paid out is just a chunk of that companies profits paid out to share holders. The company decides how much (if any) of the company's profit is going to be handed out that quarter to entice people to buy the stock and reduce their tax implications.

    I actually bought this game after watching your last series. This should be a good one. The one flaw I think this game has is that you have too much influence over companies that you may only own one share of. makes it a bit too easy to mess with your competitors. nonetheless, you should be in for a long ride with those settings.

    • @TheSkrylar
      @TheSkrylar 2 роки тому +3

      from what i recall there isn't a particularly high amount of shares you need to own of IRL stock to be entitled to shareholder meeting notes and some financial data. there's people who own a handful of token shares just for that.

    How do you have the shortcut to quickly go to the stock market tab from the company list? You seem to be able to click on the stock exchange line and it takes you to it meanwhile mine isnt underlined.

    Unfortunately they've made changes in the latest version which prevent you from just buying into a company like you have throughout this series. Back to the drawing board I guess!

    Do you ever explain what the game is in any video? Because you just seem to dive in assuming that we ought to know whats going on. I tried finding your very first video. couldn't find it, so I moved on.

    yeah im pretty sure thats a bad strategy to start. at the first day of 1871 im already at 500k net worth. not using the stock market a single time because its a waste of time and money. you get a better price negotiating with people who want to sell their stock in a company and as a result selling their stock for 20-50% of the price you pay at the stock market. and regulary people come along to take those stocks from you for market price +-5% so you give it to them and negotiate with that money again with the person selling their stock to get it for 20% less. so everytime somebody wants stock from you you just sell it and buy more for a cheaper price.

    • @pizzamane5097
      @pizzamane5097 Рік тому

      The best strategy I’ve found so far is day 1 you buy 1 stock of the cheapest company (smallest market cap) in the state. If the company has money in their reserves use it to expand the company and build for more workers. The market cap of the company will then dip. Giving you an even better deal to buy.
      For the first quarter I’ll do this to 3 companies, write down the dates the building will be finished for each company because when the build finishes the market cap will go up. Dump all my money into company that the build will finish first. Then after the build I sell those on the stock exchange at their post build price. Then Dump all my money into the second company scheduled to finish building. And so on.
      So for that first quarter I try to make the three companies all be building different size buildings (small,medium,large) so the finish dates are not to close together so I have time to dump the stock and buy the new stock.
