Celestial Warlock Protector Assimar. My aasimar always had knack for healing but experienced troubles with organized religion and so never considered becoming a cleric. Aasimar in our campaign setting have an angelic guide and the guide is always a distant celestial ancestor of the aasimar or related by blood in some way. My aasimar swore a pact with his angelic guide and so his guide became his patron. My aasimar always strives to be wise and enlightening like his patron. Our DM likes to roleplay interactions between the players and their deities and so my aasimar spoke to his patron/guide often. The DM blew my mind when my aasimar learned that his patron/guide was actually himself in the distant future preparing his past self for things to come..

HELL yeah! (Uh, heaven yeah.) Aasimar! One of my all time favorite races! I'm a little upset the Strength subrace is the fallen one, because I like to play up the golden brilliant positive energy of the aasimar, but hey, I can do some reflavoring, it's all fine. I'm so glad to see you guys do the aasimar, they're an old favorite of mine and pretty much sold Volo's to me just on principle!

Following on from the scourge part I think path of the storm herald could be fun. Desert is great because you're doubling down on the aoe damage (which you already have to consider as a scourge). Storm is almost like a call to your deva for aid in striking down your enemies. Lastly but by no means least is tundra. This one is my favourite for a number of reasons. Firstly it can be re-flavoured into much more of a restraining influence more akin to a monk than a barbarian. This is backed up mechanically by the temp hp from the range effect flatout stopping the damage on you from the scourge effect. I would theme this as one of those meditative battle trance things, possibly taught to the PC by their deva to allow them to fight without undue personal harm. A secondary effect is it helps out if your party members are inside the scourge effect, inevitably it will happen at some point. In fact until level 6 the ally takes no damage from the scourge provided the rage effect is used every turn.
You'll never guess what my back up char is at the moment.

I've played a protector Aasimar Sun Soul Monk and he was super fun. It was like playing a Dragon Ball Z character. During the battle with the BBEG who was a Orcus I flew up in the air and did a max level Searing Sun Burst (8d6+12) on him and his minions. It was like Goku doing the Kamehameha. It obliterated all the ghast minions and all was left was Orcus.

Scourge aasimar, storm herald Barbarian, Desert.
-activating rage sets everything on fire in 10 ft.
Activating aasimar consumption also sets everything on fire within 10 feet AND adds your level in damage to one attack a round.
-Add on mage slayer and charge enemy spellcasters making them blow concentration checks w/ disadvantage on up to 4 checks a round!
-desert domain means your resistant to fire, radiant, necrotic covering most popular types of magical damage.

I've been playing a Crown Paladin Protector Paladin, playing for the heavy armor tank type with the Protection Style and Shield Master...being able to light up and fly is something that's proving incredibly useful as soon as you gain it, and the bonus damage during it is a nice bonus at times.
Group house ruled that with healing hands, that instead of it, I could up my Lay on Hands to 6x paladin level rather than the normal 5x.
Light is thematic but relatively useless due to having darkvision, but it is nice to have a cantrip there.
And, dear lord, the crown paladin is extremely good for a crusader type paladin, and can work well similar to the Crusader class from 3.5

you know... I once had an idea for a divine soul sorcerer that I have yet to play. Concept is basic, since you have godly magic flowing through your veins, and with that high charisma you can start your own cult. Basic character goals was to be recognized as a true god and be able to take back his place with the gods (because either fallen, or half god). This character also combines some of the strongest spells from either spell class, although it lacks having a ton of spells... but hey, was just a fun concept for an aasimar I had.

Not sure if you forgot to include the Variant Aasimar or if you simply didn’t think they warranted covering, but they get a bump to Wisdom and sacrifice the extra shroud damage or flight for more spells. As in lesser restoration and daylight once a day, not bad spells.
I am currently playing a Variant divine soul Sorcere and loving it. Being able to twin guiding bolt is awesome and not to mention healing from extreme range.

Currently I’m entertaining the idea of a Protector Aasimar Swashbuckler build. Not trying to min/max the abilities and stats. More of a role playing element that sees my character run away from his railroaded destiny and urge to fight evil. Tragic backstory, becomes a bounty hunter, in it for himself kind of guy.
Depending on future events he might multiclass because of his desired path and choices or not at all. Have to wait and see what’s in store.

    Thematic suggestions for your Aasimar.
    Any:
    Divine soul Sorcerer
    Celestial pact warlock
Glamour Bard? (Flavor it as instead of fey magic it's holy seductive power)
    Always cleric, always
Charisma bonus lends itself very well to paladin.
    Protector:
    Definitely Cleric
    Maybe druid
Still divine soul (Very very flavorful)
    Fallen:
    Zealot Barbarian
    Oathbreaker paladin
    Vengeance Paladin
    College of Whispers bard
    Scourge:
    Zealot Barbarian
    Vengeance or Conquest Paladin
Any squishy caster because radiant consumption is a good panic switch to pull when you get caught out by some goblins - just kabloom!

Like you said earlyer the monks ability stack well with asimar. Now "Radiant sun bolts" count as spell attack and synergize with radiant consumption.

  • @destroyerinazuma96
    @destroyerinazuma96 4 роки тому

Fallen Aasimar may also work with some sort of Barbarian/Hexblade build. Not necessarily for the hitting with your Cha mod part, but for the better crits and the Hexblade Curse. If you take two levels you'll get invocations, three levels you'll get a boon. With pact of the blade you get magical weapons. You can't do the "add Cha mod to hit" Hex warrior trick on two-handed weapons, but you don't need it cause your primary stat will be Strength. Heck, you can summon a javelin and throw it around :)
Stats wise you can still expect to max Str by level 8 and your Cha multiclassing toll will be cheap. You might even go heavier on the warlock side and still use demonic rage when its convenient/necessary. You mentioned Zealot but Totem Warrior is also very strong, and while Bear is a staple Wolf will help your allies tremendously.

You could also take the Resilient Feat for Con to gain proficiency in con saves outside of being a sorcerer, plus war caster like you mentioned for advantage, but that uses A.S.I.'s. Or you could just not use Radiant Consumption with concentration spells. The point is a Scourge Caster requires more thought

I'm currently running an Aasimar with 3 levels of Paladin and 5 levels of Divine soul Sorcerer and she has, through no design of my own, become an absolute monster in combat. It's not every day the front line fighter slaps the big bad with a lightning bolt. And then another. Then next turn heals herself to full. And her ally. Having access to paladin, sorcerer, And cleric spells gave a lot of room to build a great party anchor.

Have long wanted to play a mage-hunting Spirit Guardian Barbarian Fallen Aasimar, tragic backstory etc. A sort of Cassandra character. The Angelic guide warning of danger and to total disbelief as evil mage conclave swept away her village. Her grief = her rage as her spirit guardians flit about the battle field defending her allies. When she totally looses control out come the wings and she screams radiating fear and agony.
I was inspired by Thor appearing in Infinity War with Tree and Rabbbit, the axe scything down enemies, leaping into the air screaming "BRING ME THANOS!!"
Currently, DMing Tomb of Annihilation and one of my PCs is a protector Aasimar Celestial Pact of The Tome Warlock. Very interested to see where this goes. Made her divine guide be one of Ubtaos Barae from Mezro which is my excuse to lore-dump and steer them towards Ras Nsi.

I've been playing an Aasimar Celestial Pact of the Tome Lock for the last 6 or so months. I've themed the invocations as best as I can. Been a lot of fun, themed him around having a Coutle as his Guardian/Pact holder. So he's got an annoying habit of never telling a lie. He is the party healer, oh and he carries a cursed orb which gives him 5 more spell slots... Lowers his max health temporarily when he used.. and steals the souls of casters around him when they fall.
I am going to take them to Sorc, divine Soul to further expand on thier magics, and eventually be better equipped for fighting other spell casters.

I was playing a 7th-level Protector Aasimar Paladin of Devotion (the party's "tank") when my party encounter the second final boss of a "Lost"-type of magical island -- an aboleth. I used her Radiant Soul to summon her incorporeal wings and fly above the waters of its lair and fight it, being immune to both its Enslave powers and disease causing tentacle strikes.
The final boss was Demogorgan himself attempting to go through the portal that the aboleth had activated. Long story short, our party gained a full level by stopping the demon prince from entering the world (he got two heads in before we closed the gate).

Currently playing a Protector Divine Soul Sorcerer. Haven't really drawn on her mechanical racial abilities too much, though. Instead, I've been pulling heavily on the roleplay aspect, and she is currently passing herself off as a Human. She grew up in a Human kingdom where the church of Saint Cuthbert is extremely powerful and influential, even in politics. So, she believes revealing herself as having divine blood would not only open her up to being a target from evil entities wanting to take out a champion of good, but also she could prove a huge complication to the existing social and political power structure.
Further adding to the complications is that she is a devoted priestess of the church of Saint Cuthbert, but current plot developments strongly imply that her father is a solar in the service of Corellan Larethian. She's still coming to grips with that idea.

What about scourge aasimar zealot barbarian with polearm master and later get great weapons master because after level 5 you would be doing, assuming you land every hit, 1d10 + Str mod + Rage + 1d6 + half barbarian level + full level for your first attack then 1d10 + Str mod + Rage for you second attack and for your bonus action attack 1d4 + Str mod + Rage and after your turn is done half level damage to everyone in 10 foot radius around you again assuming this is on your 2nd turn and raging and transforming for your 1st turn also you might get your reaction attack as well

      Second attack: 1d12 + Str 7 + Rage 4 + 10 GWM + 3 for magic weapon = 36
End Turn: dealing 10 AOE damage
      your version
      First attack: 1d10 + 1d6 + half level 10 + Str 7 + Rage 4 + level 20 + 10 GWM + 3 for magic weapon = 70
      Second attack 1d10 + Str 7 + Rage 4 + 10 GWM + 3 for magic weapon = 34
      Bonus attack : 1d4 + Str 7 + Rage 4 + 10 GWM + 3 for magic weapon = 28
End Turn: dealing 10 AOE damage
if you roll really good stats for STR AND CON then it's amazing, you would be doing 24 more damage.
but if you roll low on stats, then id just take GWM and use the other ASI to increase my strength and Con and maybe take Tough as a feat. ( This is assuming your DM isn't giving out magic items like it's candy)
The Asi system and the rolling for stats are one of the things that i don't really like about the game, it limits customization a lot.
