Aasimar are the angelic answer to tieflings as they are the offspring of humans and celestial beings. The aasimar 5e are bastions of divine power, both human and at once otherworldly. The power of celestial good runs through their veins, but just as not all tieflings are evil, not all aasimars embrace their divine origins. They waited in the wings for a while but now Critical Role’s Yasha Nydoorin has brought aasimars into the spotlight. First time dming and one of my players is a 5 year old paladin aasimar that likes birds alot

About the scourge aasimar you forgot to mention their secondary effect from radiant consumption, the secondary effect is that once per turn when you damage a creature you can add additional damage equal to your level so if you hit a creature with either a spell that does damage or with an attack they will end up taking 1.5x you level of additional damage. Also for a build involving scourge aasimar might I suggest a zealot barbarian.

currently in my campaign I'm playing a Zariel descend tiefling who is a celestial warlock who has fully embraced her more uhm violent tendencies but always directs them at evil creatures while our sorcerer its playing a divine soul scourge assimar who is completely terrified of his own powers and tries to supress (not use his damaging spells) them trying to only heal and support.
I think they are are pretty great foil to one another.
I am creating a Protector Aasimar Paladin with a folk hero background for a Theros campaign. I am currently playing a Protector Aasimar Cleric with an Acolyte background. I love how the Aasimar race and protector subrace bonuses complement both the cleric and Paladin classes. The video detailed the major points about an Aasimar.
I've played a Drunken Master Monk Protector Aasimar once, Vayne.
He wasn't aware he was an Aasimar until demons attacked him and burned his home. The Deva started talking with him, explaining that he was chosen as a Paragon of Light and his arch-nemesis was trying to kill him before he got stronger and... He refused to take part in it.
He decided he wasn't a pawn in Celestial Warfare and run. He drowned himself in cheap beer, until a Drunken Master found him and saw the wasted potential of a Celestial wasting his life away, so he decided to train Vayne, not to be a pawn of celestials or demons, but to be strong for himself and be able to chose what to do with the life that was given.
At the end of the campaign he ended up making amends with the Deva, but never accepted being a pawn. He and his party fought the Baalor that was his deva's arch-nemesis because a creature that evil needed to be stopped, but he got powerful enough to be able to defend his friends and live how he saw fit, instead of taking orders from divine beings.
It was an awesome character and campaign. Since Aasimars don't start with any bonuses to Dexterity, he started with 14 Dex and 16 Wis, which isn't optimal but it isn't that bad either and I took the Tough feat along the way, to embrace that physical and spiritual training of the Monk, being able to use his body as a weapon to fight his foes.
Vayne the Monk? Am I sensing a FFXII fan?

I play a lawful good whisper bard protector Aasimar born in a city where everyone else is a human who feard and avoided him. He ended up making friends with a Tiefling who is in the very same situation. It is a bit twisted but I am also planning on a druid Warforged^^
I have this idea for an Aasimar cleric who goes out on a quest to take care of a family curse. But is also just tried of everything and is very pissed off because everyone and every last party he was in people kept getting bodied.

Can someone tell me why winged tieflings are an official thing but Aasimar, literal angelic beings, don't officially have wings?

Im playing a really big campaign, we had to create a master system to have 4 factions play in the same world none of which know of the others. Other player are tought to be Boss or NPC and we will meet them during the war at the end.
The campaign is clearly invented by us and the rules are varied but the beauty of dnd is that.
The campaign places the aasimars in a kingdom destroyed by the forger of the world itself due to some events concerning a player and his background.
I play as Apollo, the helper of one of the factions, whose leaders are the players and I am the guardian angel of the player who guides this ideal.
I will update you on how it turns out
For now our factiom Need to take all the mana we can from leaving being to go back in time whit a chronomancwr and make the fall of celestial never happend. But the other 3 party see US as some kind of Demon like army that drains mana from all that is alive

I'm really excited to use my Protector Aasimar fighter in a game soon. I know Protector Aasimar are more suited as paladins but I'm sure I can find my way around this issue and make him a good PC to play as.

An Amanda Waller NPC Aasimar with a homebrew angel-pixie race companion as her secretary and taskmaster to a group of felon adventurers... basically, Suicide Squad.
She acts like a Magical Girl protagonist, but has streaks of Bulleta's sadism and psychopathy.

I am actually playing a Variant Aasimar already in a game and to be honest... besides learning I missed on flying or bursting with light... I see the "Variant Aasimar" as the perfect subrace to rolaplay a champion of a diety that is not necessarily "Good" but still it lawful...
Variant Aasimars make good Warlocks, as healing hands are nice IMO with little spell slots and the same goes for their lesser restoration ability, while Daylight is the only ability I wouldn't really care about, but don't mind that it is there... I can imagine using it in my favor to scare people, or something...

I once played variant Aasimar thinking it was pretty much the same as an actual Aasimar and then was told I couldn't fly which was why I wanted to be an Aasimar. Now I got a friend who wanted to make a campaign highschool based so I decided to no play a scourge Aasimar sorcerer that's chaotic good.
Makes a pink skinned Aasimar with white hair. Yes. She totally blends in!
In my cousin's setting, the Aasimar, aestheticswise are more akin to the spirits in some anime called Date A Live. This is so as my group has a beffudling tendency to make their Aasimar as cutesy as possible and to the point of parodying mahout shoujos. My cousin even gave them a "inverse" mechanic or the "fallen state" just to be done with it.
My friends are starting lost mine of phandelver and this will be our first time playing ever so I was trying to decide on what to play as. I want to be paladin but I didnt know which to choose. Should I be a fallen or a scourge, I was kinda leaning towards scourge.
It’s hard for us to know what *you* would like best. There are so many variables. Scourge is probably a safer bet though!

It's up to your DM, but don't get too tied into locking-in setting elements of some of the race choices. Given they mechanically have darkvision, an aasimar could potentially be based on a huge selection of racal stock. e.g. a fallen aasimar that's reskinned as a teifling or a scourge aasimar re-skinned as a high elf (with a strong dose of the blood of Corellon) both work great imo. In fact a fallen aasimar mechanically could work with any "fallen" type of character. e.g. it could be a symptom of the PC's warlock pact (Celestial and Fiend come to mind).
I had a DM who was fine with me re-skinning a winged teifling as an aasimar. Mechanically a winged teifling, but the appearance of an angelic being.

Forst time playing an aasimar, im making him a barbarian. His backstory used to be a knoght of the order because his deva told him to join it. My character would stick to the oath pledged in the knoght order he pledged to a tea and in this order hed have to kill anyone who didnt abide by their rules.
He made a friend that wasnt a knight and they were good friends for wuite a while until he found out his friend had broken one of the oaths and He had to be killed by the hands of citrine (my character). After this incident it made him rethink the values of good and evil and he decided what makes a person evil is their willingness to kill an innocent person. He tries his best to stay true to his code but even though hes grown so much he still hates rvil with a passion and will kill anyone at all costs if they do kill an innocent person. This side of himself scares him because he knows that he killed innocent people in the past with the excuse that they were evil and he fears he’ll kill a person who does not deserve it.
can you be a reborn aasimar? or does it not work that way? I could see the amnesia and having the marked for destiny thing be more intriguing that way. Like, if your benefactor still contacted you and you were like who the heck are you.

my aasimar character have a little difference...the angel who is his patron is sealed inside himself... basically I take inspiration from Lucifer but in a more kind way...
the angel was a warrior for good but had to do a lot of shady shit during his fight...like see his fellow angels kill innocent baby just because they were teafling or half demons ...then he rebels but didn't end well as a angel is immortal so they sealed him in a newborn baby who parents die during this war and let him to die...was saved and reased by elves but he have to live in isolation as a hermit because people want him dead...and he doesn't know why he haven't realize yet he have a angel sealed inside
