I had a Assimar acolyte who screwed up a recon mission and lost some fellow acolytes. He was banished for that and for being too CG and not NG. Then he discovered that during that last mission, he got Lycanthropy. He was found by Blood Hunters who trained him to control it. Now he hunts those occultists who he failed to kill the first time. Take this if you want.
That Fallen Aasimar / Ancestor Barb. concept was badass! Thanks for talking about these guys in a sensible and interesting way, theres not a lot of valuable info. on this race. Great job guys. I'm playing a Fallen Aasimar / Open Hand monk who is a trained underworld doctor. He resists his dark heritage through advanced meditation and Neigong. The struggle of dark & light within
I've wanted to play a similar concept with a pact of the celestial fallen aasimar who's basically somehow bound his own celestial guide into being an unwilling patron. Not sure yet why he'd hold this grudge against his own guide or his overall backstory but plenty of story telling potential there.
Heather Martin I did a similar thing with a drow and a high elf who were adopted siblings and were a fighting duo in an arena thingy. The drow, my character, was a shadow sorcerer/mastermind rogue, and the high elf was, if memory serves, an arcane archer fighter. The characters weren’t as stereotypical as you’d think, as my character was raised like a normal elf minus the superiority complex, and the high elf was raised by an orc clan, and thus worshipped Gruumsh, which was kinda weird for an elf, but still fun. I’ve always enjoyed playing characters with another complimentary character, and this is one of my favorite pairs.
In a campaign I was in there was a guy who played a fallen aasimar blood hunter (the epitome of edge) and as a joke we made a sign we held up when he got too edgy that just read "crawling in my skin"
I super feel this playing a path of the zealot barb. There have been a handful of fights round one is rage and skeletal wings so it's just a turn of transforming.
People dont stop talking about them ANYWHERE. They're very flavorful and, more than that, are highly synergistic with many classes in the game. Any class their ability scores dont directly support, their racial powers offer useful options for various classes. Self healing is never unwanted, and every form comes with a level based damage bonus, that IS magical. Flight is nearly always useful, and the major detractors of it say "well your wings get in the way and are an obvious target" and the aasimar get around that by having flight on-demand that goes away. No one knows just by looking at you that you can fly, so it's a surprise. Their AoE fear save is charisma based, which isn't a common save to have, and offers a useful CC ability to any class. This can mean your battle master fighter gets access to fear, or your conquest paladin gets to optimize their fear benefits. And scourge deals AoE damage to everyone and anything around you, no save. It's not as synergistic as fallen/conquest paladin but it's no less useful. Again, stick it on a fighter or monk or paladin and your melee attacker becomes more threatening - stick it on a crowd controller and they suddenly get a passive ouch field.
100% here for giving aasimar similar status to tieflings, as well as giving them non-angel celestial heritage. My aasimar character is descended from couatl so she has feathers where tieflings have horns to set her out from the crowd. My DM and I play up her angelic guide (a couatl) and her hexblade patron as her conflicting shoulder angel and devil (inspired by kronk in the emperor's new groove). She only made the warlock pact to piss off her guide and her noble family, but we enjoy using her patrons to pull her in different directions. I especially enjoy having her scream "you're not my real patron!" at her guide.
@@rustyshackle8000 As far I know it always was that even gods did not remember correctly who was Asmodeus so they belived he was an angel once. In lore he is really a nor god nor a celestial nor even a devil, but a world serpent among with Jazirian.
As soon as I heard that I lmao and was like "No way, did he really say that!?" So I rewinded and as soon as I heard it again I started coughing and dying of laughter
Thats how I remember to say it lol. I was like wait.. lol. Debating if my Protector could have some kinda of thing where her healing is some how ASMR related
Aasimar Rogue would definitely excel in the social pillar of play, and if they went Protector, they'd have the mobility options necessary to be an incredible thief. "So, how did someone manage to scale a 60-foot tower with greased walls and unlock the window at the top?" I'd imagine they'd be your typical "Thief with a Heart of Gold" character, both only targeting those that deserve it and helping people with the resources they acquire. Alternatively, they could be the biggest jerk of all, and just use their inborn good reputation to get away with some truly heinous crimes, because there's no way the Aasimar could possibly rob that orphanage.
I had an idea for a character who was basically raised by the church as a child of prophecy. A messiah. Thing is, when he got old enough to understand what they wanted from him, he started freaking out! He didn't have any great wisdom to impart! He had to watch every word unless he wanted to start a schism! So he snapped under the pressure and ran away. He became a rogue partially out of necessity, partly because years of being spoiled by the Church had gotten him used to getting what he wants when he wants it.
I'm running a protector aasimar rogue thief right now. Soldier background (infiltration type unit) that had been booted out and turned to crime. He drinks a lot to try to drown out his dreams...
An Aasimar whose heritage springs from forbidden love... A human woman and a Modron Pentadrone. He could only perform five functions, but one of them was love. You might want to make Charisma your dump stat on that one though.
Im currently playing an Radiant soul Aasimar monk, way of shadow build. She is a holy assassin of Pelor who uses light to create shadows so she can use those shadows against those who dwell in the dark.
Interesting. I made a sun soul scourge Aasimar that was taught by their guide to channel the scourge-y light, transformation thing into bolts of energy.
One of the things I did in a game was I had the angelic guide be very vocal for the first 6 or so levels and then suddenly just completely silent. It turned out that the devils of my world were so empowered by the worship from a cult that they were able to capture several angels, which caused my players to quest to free them
I love when you guys put some practical sense to a high magic universe by saying "y'know that's just another place you can go, right? What does Celestia care about one mortal?!" I think that's excellent out the box thinking and i really root for those ideas to open up class possibilities and give the world depth and intelligence. B/c that's how real people are anyway. And it's funny. Not everything is sacred. I love the new sound, or sound filter. Turning Jim's gravelly speech impediment into a rumbling Howard Stern bass is a great idea.
In the campaign that I’m playing with some old friends from high school, my Aasimar is a War Cleric for the god Odin. My divine guide is a Valkyrie instead of a normal angel.
I love my scourge aasimar zealot barbarian. Although it takes a round to set up, their rage and radiant consumption is incredibly deadly. Also she's just covered in scars and wounds from all the times she died. It's such a great combination for combat and role-playing.
Aasimar are one of my favorite races! The Aasimar of my setting are the nobility of my world. The concept is they have created an actually non corrupt good society for humans and any willing to join it and the conflict comes from them WAY overextending themselves trying to help too many people. They're celestial guides are objectively lawful good but have alien minds and see the future. The may recommend execution for stealing bread or community service for murder. Gosh I could gush for days but great video lots of cool new ideas!
I remember back when there was the Spawn animated series on HBO. When Angela showed up, she was dressed like a beautiful woman in business clothes. But people who were truly good at heart could see her divinity. Kids, older people, good hard working folks would just stare at her, completely dumb founded and totally unaware that they were doing it and would forget that she specifically was there but would remember seeing a divinity of some kind. I always imagined Aasimar's being like this. If the Aasimar is good aligned they some what mesmerize lesser people of similar alignment and innocence. But if they are evil then evil people, and people with guilt issues are mesmerized.
One of my players has a Storm-descended Protector Aasimar Sun Soul Monk (reskinned from radiant to lightning damage). He's having a lot of fun with the character, so I'd encourage you to give that a try!
How about a Kensei Monk, who is flavored like the avatar of a Hindu god of war. Running around with tridents and more esoteric weapons. Strikes so fast they seem like they've sprung a dozen arms.
GoldThird I have a Human character with that same multiclass, plays really well, I played a one-shot recently with that character, and a friend of mine played the twin brother, a Shadow monk/Shadow sorcerer. Imagine Thor and Loki but with a flavor similar to Doctor Strange, I absolutely loved that one-shot.
I always thought the main reason Aasimar weren't as popular as Tieflings was that being connected to celestials or divines probably required knowledge of them in order to really have a lore-friendly backstory. Unlike Tieflings, who seem far less restricted.
This episode felt like a return to form for whatever reason. I love it when you guys discuss character ideas and concepts. To me that's some of your most inspiring content. When you guys start riffing off each other and talking about using things in your games in interesting ways or how you want to try a certain character idea in the next game that is webdm's appeal to me. Idk why but for the past few months I've not been as excited to watch your videos but this one felt good. It was a reminder of why you guys are awesome.
Reminds me of my first character, an aasimar cleric who had to have a disguise magic tattoo because we were in a lawful evil city state. I later realized I kind of made Sailor Moon and leaned hard into my transformation sequences
Dario Sanchez Oh my god. I have an aasimar sorcerer that uses a glamour to hide her identity. She’s a magical girl. That’s the character I created. She’s literally just a magical girl. You’ve just awoken a realisation in me.
Fallen Aasimar Necromancer. Roleplayed as a corrupted and fallen Valkyrie collecting fallen warriors to fight her battles There is a good synergy with that because of the necromancer temp hp ability paired with vampiric touch and the Aasimar ability to add their level to a single target attack for a minute
@@ShasO888 well, we could say they're a valkyrie that takes soldiers that couldn't die in battle, via infection, starvation, expiration, or something else, and puts their souls into the bodies that she's raising to give them a genuine chance to fight and finally return to Valhalla.
I'm happy to see this, because I recently started playing a fallen aasimar zealot barbarian. Went biblical with his background channeling Cain and Abel. I'm also playing against type with him being actually smart and capable of small unit tactics.
The moment Pruitt said "Divine Bloodline" at the 5 minute mark, my mind got to thinking about Sekiro and the Divine Heir, the Divine Realm, and all the creative possibilities!"
I am reminded of 4th editions deva when I read about aasimar’s. The idea of an angle that chose to become mortal for the freedom to take action seemed interesting to me. This flips Jim’s focus on assimar being mortals touch by divine into divine being choosing mortality for the freedom to go anywhere.
During our last campaign (Storm King’s Thunder), my friend who was new to the game played an Aasimar- Little Light the fighter. She found the angelic guide super helpful. In addition, although it didn’t play much into the campaign, the more she tried to solve the intrigue surrounding the giants, the more she found herself further and further from her character’s arc to find her parents. The second character was mine- Solaris. Solaris was meant to be the best hero possible. When Harshnag the ice giant hero died in front of him, however, he started to want to punish anyone who withheld justice and discredited heroes... which led to his eventual descent into evil. Eventually he betrayed the party and got turned into stone by a stone giant dream walker.
Seriously? Are you guys stalking me or something? It feels like every week you guys release a video that has something so deliciously relevant to my campaigns. Thank you.
My ideas for Aasimar characters are both rangers. Either a Horizon Walker that protects the upper planes or a Monster Slayer going out like a celestial witcher killing fiends and the like.
Idea: Fallen Aasimar Warlock with an Archfey patron. They're fallen because they literally fell into the feywild, and their deva guardian didn't abandon them as is stated to happen in Volo's. . . they just lost track of them for a really long time. The passage of time works quite differently in the feywild after all.
Love the vid topic! My only complaint...is that it didn’t come out sooner! :p Just recently had to create an Aasimar for a game and I always look to your guy’s vids for info and inspiration! Ended up with a scruffy traveling Bard, who had prophetic dreams about leading a Great Holy War where he would lose everything, so he travels to enjoy the world before he resigns to his fate. The part about the Angelic Guide not being 100% correct and fallible was super useful too! Maybe she has it wrong!
One of my favorite character ideas is a Fallen Aasimar paladin of redemption. They lost their celestial power for reasons not entirely under their control, so they live this life of redemption to hopefully regain their lost light.
ValeHunter 77 Definitely a lot of fun. Played a Fallen Aasimar Hexblade/Oath of Redemption that was being pulled towards evil, but took up the oath to try and offset it. Lots of fun RPing and character development.
Currently playing an way of the 4 elements monk. My DM flavored it so that instead of a celestial benefactor per say, she's hailing from the fire elemental plane. We changed my language option from celestial to primodial as well. My character has whispy body tattoos on her back and arms which shimmer whenever I use elemental magic, and actually lift from her body and become wings when I cast radiant soul. I love her. 😍
24:57 That even is how real life Tarot works. You are looking for it, thus you will eventually find it. That's why Tarot readings are kept very vague and the interpretation is up to the one who the cards are laid out for.
One of my favorite book series, Kushiel's Legacy, actually basically has an entire society of Aasimar in T'erre D'Ange that is made of the descendents of angels that left heaven. That's always the first thing that jumps into my head when this discussion begins.
With Saltmarsh arriving soon would you two be willing to do an episode on vehicles and travel from using them to adventures centered around them? From ocean to space or horse drawn carriage to lightning rail.
13:30 What's this? A Fighter proficient in SOCIAL combat?! (aggressive negotiations ensue) I like having Aasimar as part of a 'spectrum' of plane-touched people in a setting. In the one I played in for a couple of years, the world had places where the boundaries between planes were thin, resulting in the people who lived in those places spontaneously generating individuals 'touched' by the adjoining plane. Elves were particularly malleable (hence all the different sub-types of elves), with humans giving rise to Tieflings, Genasi and Aasimar. I forget if my DM had plane-touched for the Fey and Shadowfel, but those wouldn't be hard to make. It really lowers the social stigma of being a tiefling if you're just from that town with the hot springs (a byproduct of being close to an infernal plane).
One of my favorite 5e characters is a Aasimar Paladin of Vengeance. She was born a Protector, but became Fallen when she killed her father. Eventually following Torm and seeking retribution while fighting off the evil she still *thinks* lays dormant in her. Currently lv 8. Can't wait to see if she becomes a protector again :)
One of my players is doing a Fallen Aasimar that is the Blood Cleric for a goddess Fate and Death Essentially she was a tool to do very bloody work in the fall/battle of the gods in the campaign I wrote.
I have an aasimar redemption paladin who looks like a tiefling but with golden eyes and ivory skin. He was actually a minor villain (who was an actual tiefling) from the last campaign with the same group who, upon being slain, was resurrected to fix what he did in his previous life. He himself has no memory of his actions in his past life but anyone who knew him or at least knew what he looked like as a villain would recognize him.
After watching your Teifling video, I’m now imagining what the Aasimar product of a more exotic looking angel would look like. Maybe 6 wings, more eyes than necessary (even if they don’t function) illusory wheels encircling them, or maybe just when they cast spells
Great vid! I'd just like to elaborate on the divine/magical aspect. To me in itself it means that a player is in their rights to negotiate with the DM where to put that +1. A Protector Aasimar of Thoth can have +1 Int Tiefling style. A Fallen Aasimar tied to an assassin background can take +1 Dex rather than Str in my books. This is typically the case where since so many UA Tieflings exist I would allow variant aasimar provided the player can produce a convincing backstory and character concept. Happy New Year!
For me, Teifling is "touched by evil", and Aasimar, "touched by good" (or "born of"). So Aasimar could just as easily be Chaotic, as Lawful. For for example I played a CN Aasimar Hexblade, who tried hard through a long campaign to "not become evil". That was fun - his back-story was simply that he was descended from the (CG) Arch-Fey.
Currently playing a Scourge Aasimar College of Swords Bard and really loving it both in combat but especially in the roleplaying department. The Aasimar stats really helped augment both of my important stats for spellcasting, fighting and especially with social I am level 7 with plus 10 in performance and persuasion its awesome. How he fights is slightly unhinged and raw but he likes to sing celestial songs and poems to the villagers and their children after helping to save them from the machinations of demons and devils. Tries to bring people closer to the light by doing good deeds and by exposing them to divine beauty found in song, poetry, storytelling. Bringing good vibes to people.
I've been playing a fallen aasimar barbarian who ended up in chult as he ran away from his family and noble heritage (cause devils have replaced some of them). Playing an Aasimar who doesn't know what he is has been a blast and I always wanted him to have a redemption arch but the story has lead him to recently come back to Port after all his party save for one died and he's pretty much starting a holy war on Omu now and is willing to sacrifice anything to stop the death curse. LOVE Aasimar and have since I started in 3.0 it's so fun to play one for the first time.
Recently started a campaign playing a Protector Aasimar as a Horizon Walker Ranger. The idea of a plane touched being with an affinity for the portals to different planes protecting the material plane from the monsters of other planes. Part of his arc will be finding out where or how he acquired this ability, this knowledge and awareness of the planes, since he lost his memories after it happened.
Yeah this is all wonderful advice! My Aasimar is a fallen and a warlock of Nehkbet the forgotten goddess of plagues vultures and protection. He became a fallen through the murder of fellow kin in an argument gone horribly wrong. He plays himself off as a human follower of the Raven Queen to hide his divine and necrotic aura. He is embittered by his experience but has that instinctive itch to help others due to his heritage. He took the deal in the first place to be able to soar the sky again as that was everything to him, and he is constantly running away from his past. If the Aasimar village in the mountains said they’d take him back, he’d fight to his last breath out of spite alone.
I honestly forget this is a playable race 90% of the time, but I really like the idea of that Diviner Wizard. Also, Trav on the Couch sounds like a After Dark segment.
My friend rolled up a hex blade Aasimar, but he was born into a world full of demons and necromancy. So he has a super broken childhood full a violence and has a really hatred for undead and creatures of the lower planes, not through blood but through experience
Currently playing scourge Aasimar wizard in descent into avernus. Gotta enjoy the constant debate of when do I want to go light nova and cast spells. Also having the 2nd highest con in the party is hilarious
My favorite Aasimar character I’ve made so far has been a Divine Soul Sorcerer who also went Celestial Warlock having made a contract with a Couatl. So we had this SorLock with his familiar becoming essentially battle support and twinning spells for higher effectiveness. Part of me wonders if I should do another one as a Cleric/Sorcerer next time.
Specifically in regards to prophecies, I gave a player a magic item called Fate Spun, which is a magic ring that showed him a prophetic vision of his death, and he can’t die until that death. Pretty simple, but something fun.
I have a question so I was thinking of build Aasimar but instead of being touched by celestial it make it touched my fey and the summer courts basically keep everything the same but making more fey related
My current character is a scourge Aasimar paladin of vengeance who is descended from a cleric of Pellor who was blessed following her actions during a demon invasion. His ancestor founded an order of demon hunters who evolved (or devolved) into more general monster slayers as the number of fiends in the realm decreased. He's one of the last surviving members of the order and I'm playing him as a combination of demonologist and researcher who's writing a book on monsters.
We had a Fallen Aasimar Oathbreaker Paladin be the BBG for one of our campaigns. The amount of auras you can stack up is a bit crazy. Their once flaming holy sword had been corrupted so it dripped narcotic poison that turned to gas when it fell from the blade, and a proper demon weapon in her off-hand. Several blessings from arch devils, giving her some special stuff like "Infernal Sunder" on her basic attacks, and a legendary action to fly pretty much on demand. Really wish I was the playing the Aasimar in our party, cause she was having a fun time with the character dynamic going on.
Aasimar Monk is an amazing consept. I made an Aasimar Monk/Barbarian named Baahn who was only as strong as he was because he was an Aasimar. Very Broly esc character
I play with a Protector Aasimar Paladin, and may I just say, it's annoying when they get the final hit on every single boss we come across. EVERY. SINGLE. ONE.
Someone might have mentioned it in some way, but I wanted to say - one way to leverage a charaisma bonus as a fighter (beside social situations of course) is the "rally" maneuvre of the battlemaster :) Maybe even add the inspiring leader feat, it sounds quite flavourful for an Aasimar to be inspiring
I made an NPC Aasimar Fiend Warlock. Her birth was agreed upon by a celestial and high devil to act as a negotiator for treaties between them. Party didn't look into it too much, but I had a decent amount of story written up for her.
Great video as always, and very well timed, one of my players finally decided to be the DM for a oneshot so i get to make my first character in a while, out of the 4 characters i have made one of them is an aasimar which i love, although i have slightly spun it, the way i personally see aasimar and the issue i see with them is the assumption that gods are only light or dark, and not elemental, so i have made a reskinned scourge aasimar touched by the evil lightning god talos, The character is a storm giant soul sorceror so that kinda meshes with him being lightning based, so the scourge power instead of burning fire of radiant energy its like a walking teslacoil, and his main attack is shocking grasp and melee combat, another thing which i think that seems obvious but isnt mentioned in the race information is that he wears a mask because his face is scarred and hideous (scourge aasimar literally gets blazing light out of their eyes and mouth, damaging themself each round, there is no way that doesnt have a long lasting effect). Really looking forward to playing him although its not entirely lore cannon, i feel you can expand the use of aasimar way more by protecter being light, fallen being dark, and then scourge being "the champion" of any deity, be it elemental, light, dark, etc. Seemed very weird to me that the entire point of aasimar was that they were touched by celestials, yet somehow only good gods and celestial can create them, why not have an evil god create them? can you imagine a fallen aaimar of an evil god would literally be a good aasimar? That is a concept i definitely have to think about. Never the less, a super interesting race which i personally have had HUGE issues placing in my own campaign world (the closest i have gotten is a landmass which a large mountain leading to celestia which is surrounded by aasimar and clerics, and the other end of the island has a gaping chasm leading to the abyss, which is surrounded by tieflings)
I am playing an Aasimar Druid right now whose angelic ties are to Gaurdinals. She draws her summons and her forms from the Beastlands and Arborea and plays into their celestial and fey natures.
I personally love the flavor of Scourge Aasimar and the forge domain cleric, with the flavor of igniting himself with the sacred forge of the gods as he was born with a spark of that flame
Good content. But here be production nerd tips. 1. Get Neutral Density filters for your cams if you're gonna be shooting up against that freakishly bright window. They don't have to be the fancy ones and can be quite cheap. 2. If you can't get lights in there, use something reflective to bounce the light back onto their faces, they're being shrouded in shadow. 3. Balance out the colour temperature between your two shot and single shot cam footage
I am playing an Aasimar Protector College of Swords Bard , he is a sarcastic drunk trying to escape fulfilling his what he sees as his pre-ordained destiny. He is resentful for the fact that his fate appears already predetermined and takes every opportunity he can to try and circumvent his destiny, but no matter how hard he tries to go against his fate he somehow ends up fulfilling his destiny. Often ends up doing such daring acts of heroics as leaping into the front line to stand over fallen comrades and the like (which i portray as part of his destiny he was meant to fulfill). As of yet i have not actually reviled to the rest of the group that he is an Aasimar, I am waiting for some desperate point in the game when he will have to use his abilities to save a fellow party member.
I had a Fiend pact Protector Aasimar Warlock. His father sold him to a fiend, but his guardian angel prevented him from being claimed. So the fiend started slowly giving him more and more power to try and corrupt him into becoming Fallen. Basically, I made a character with a literal shoulder devil and angel.
Nice, I made a Fallen Aasimar Warlock who is the son of a female Solar and Human male Cleric. My character's mom is one of the of those psycho church types who forces religion on her children. He's eventually disowned for refusing to live the lifestyle his mother wants for him and is living on the streets until he meets a beautiful girl who turns out to be a Succubus and seduces him to the dark side. She introduces him to her family and the Devils welcome him with open arms and spoil him. He eventually regrets his decision and decides he wants to undo the pact and redeem himself. He also has a brother who is a Scourge Aasimar Vengeance Paladin who is trying to help my character redeem himself.
@@Greyshadow_17 Interesting that you went with the mother as the celestial parent. I also DM, and had been kicking around the idea of having a dragon in human form become impregnated with a half dragon and be unable to change back until she gives birth.
Yeah my dad is no Angel lol. Out of all my characters he resonates with me the most. It comes from personal experience and inspiration, my mom is kind of like that in real life so I decided to channel that into my character. Same with the succubus part. They both symbolize my personal and love life. Bad girl corrupts the good boy and boy is on a quest to regain his humanity/divinity. His succubus girlfriend was based off my high school crush who broke my heart and caused me to be depressed for 3 years and lower my self esteem lol.
I once played a scourge aasimar, tempest barbarian (desert). He was technically a dwarf, the Son Of the Forge, touched by Moradin. This character had to deal with the feeling that he was nothing more than a weapon of destruction. Raging and using the Angelic feature at the same time was just dangerous for everyone involved.

tbh I've been wanting to play a fallen aasimar who's pact of the celestial, and their patron is basically their parole officer/AA sponsor.
Warlock?
I like the idea of a fallen aasimar valor bard/fiend pact warlock. They call me Johnny..
I've wanted to play a similar concept with a pact of the celestial fallen aasimar who's basically somehow bound his own celestial guide into being an unwilling patron. Not sure yet why he'd hold this grudge against his own guide or his overall backstory but plenty of story telling potential there.
Okay that's hilarious
Comedy gold my dude
My friend and I have a teifling and aasimar who're adoptive siblings, both having been sold into a freak show when they were young
That's awesome
LOVE it!
@@schonlingg.wunderbar2985 my guy I am fully illiterate, I can't read and i don't want to lmao
I did that with both being children of Zariel. And she "forced" them to work together to stem the Demon tide for her.
In a campaign I was in there was a guy who played a fallen aasimar blood hunter (the epitome of edge) and as a joke we made a sign we held up when he got too edgy that just read "crawling in my skin"
Aasimar basically give you an anime transformation and it’s awesome
THIS ISNT EVEN MY FINAL FORM
Aasimar Sun Soul Monk... Goku!!
I super feel this playing a path of the zealot barb. There have been a handful of fights round one is rage and skeletal wings so it's just a turn of transforming.
My aasimar has a ton of tattoos and his wings are normally inked on to his shoulders and glow and grow when it's time to fly
Aasimar are "less popular" because they aren't in the PHB. People won't STFU about them on Reddit.
I'm glad I don't have an account, now.
@Fred Freddy lol
Gotta brew a paladin subclass along the lines of the Oath of Social Justice to really bring out the protector Aasimar.

Kronk is best girl
Oh, so this is what all those creepy whispering videos are about?
I tried to do that as my character voice for an Aasimar once, but then it stopped being funny about halfway through the first session
A line of Aasimar that was created by Asmodeus before he fell. And now there’s an entire order devoted to his redemption.
That took me a second to understand, but I think it's genius. A secretive, old as time order sworn on the redemption of he who wasn't always infernal.
@@kylestanley7843 but Asmodeus never was celestial in the first place.
@@Asderuki Some versions of Asmodeus have him as a fallen angel that was corrupted by Tharzidun. I believe it was the 4th edition Dawn War version.
@@rustyshackle8000 As far I know it always was that even gods did not remember correctly who was Asmodeus so they belived he was an angel once. In lore he is really a nor god nor a celestial nor even a devil, but a world serpent among with Jazirian.

@@Madwoman_Ruby good stuff, haven't touched NWN In years. If you do make an ASMR vid, let us know.
Aasimar Rogue would definitely excel in the social pillar of play, and if they went Protector, they'd have the mobility options necessary to be an incredible thief. "So, how did someone manage to scale a 60-foot tower with greased walls and unlock the window at the top?"
I'd imagine they'd be your typical "Thief with a Heart of Gold" character, both only targeting those that deserve it and helping people with the resources they acquire. Alternatively, they could be the biggest jerk of all, and just use their inborn good reputation to get away with some truly heinous crimes, because there's no way the Aasimar could possibly rob that orphanage.
It's not DnD, but I played an Aasimar Rogue that was spec'ed out to be the spymaster in a Pathfinder Kingmaker campaign. Worked fairly well.
*erotic beeping*
An odd way of saying ED-E
Just wanted to say that you guys provide consistently good material for idea farming/development. Thanks for putting out quality content.
Thank you Charlie!
Protector Aasimar Glamour Bard, checking in! Growing wings and holding a concert mid battle is pretty swag lol

What does Celestia care about one mortal?!"
I think that's excellent out the box thinking and i really root for those ideas to open up class possibilities and give the world depth and intelligence. B/c that's how real people are anyway. And it's funny. Not everything is sacred.
I love the new sound, or sound filter. Turning Jim's gravelly speech impediment into a rumbling Howard Stern bass is a great idea.
The three subs for Aasimar are perfect for Ravnica.
Fallen = Orzhov
Scourge = Boros
Protector = Azorius
@@hekjek9865 but aasimar aren't angels. (Reflavor how you are a aasimar)
@@hekjek9865 Angels can freelance in Ravnican lore. So maybe they help Azorius.
In the campaign that I’m playing with some old friends from high school, my Aasimar is a War Cleric for the god Odin. My divine guide is a Valkyrie instead of a normal angel.
Scourge aasimar are my favorite, especially when paired with a conquest paladin or zaelot barbarian.
So many Aasimar warlock hexblades in our groups and I'm excited to see if we can add a few more layers of story to them thanks to your video :)
I have an idea for a Solar-descended Protector Aasimar, Sun Soul monk.
Maybe with a small dip into Divine Soul Sorcerer.
Roleplayed as a corrupted and fallen Valkyrie collecting fallen warriors to fight her battles
There is a good synergy with that because of the necromancer temp hp ability paired with vampiric touch and the Aasimar ability to add their level to a single target attack for a minute
No Valhalla for them. Undeath. Wicked.
@@ShasO888 well, we could say they're a valkyrie that takes soldiers that couldn't die in battle, via infection, starvation, expiration, or something else, and puts their souls into the bodies that she's raising to give them a genuine chance to fight and finally return to Valhalla.
I'd love to see a full planetouched sourcebook from wotc. Alongside a Planescape setting book.
Agreed!
Kuro is basically an aasimar Divine Soul sorcerer, when you think about it
I am reminded of 4th editions deva when I read about aasimar’s. The idea of an angle that chose to become mortal for the freedom to take action seemed interesting to me. This flips Jim’s focus on assimar being mortals touch by divine into divine being choosing mortality for the freedom to go anywhere.
I like it. Lots of interesting epilepsy aspects.
@@SomeDigitalGhost I don't think epilepsy is the word you intend to use there.
@@isaachaahr8691 I meant roleplay... auto correct. I'd correct it but then your comment wouldn't make sense.
I'm not playing a Fallen Aasimar but I'm playing a Scourge Aasimar Ancestral Guardian Barbarian. It's pretty fun and flavorful.
As a catholic i can honestly say I got that cold open
Ha! Same here.
Seriously? Are you guys stalking me or something? It feels like every week you guys release a video that has something so deliciously relevant to my campaigns.

This is the first channel where I find the sponsor content interesting.
That Aasimar wizard imagery really reminded me of Saruman the White.
Would it be more Gandalf the white?
Aasimar is my favorite race so I am super happy that you made this finally.
My ideas for Aasimar characters are both rangers. Either a Horizon Walker that protects the upper planes or a Monster Slayer going out like a celestial witcher killing fiends and the like.
I know I'm late. But I play both of those in 2 different games, and they are my favorite characters.
Thank God you guys aren't in the comic shop, now I can listen without distraction.
Just recently had to create an Aasimar for a game and I always look to your guy’s vids for info and inspiration!
That's why Tarot readings are kept very vague and the interpretation is up to the one who the cards are laid out for.
all I can say is FINALLY
(both for aasimar and not being in a store)
I'd love to see a video about these different planes and how they relate, how to travel between, etc.
One of my favorite book series, Kushiel's Legacy, actually basically has an entire society of Aasimar in T'erre D'Ange that is made of the descendents of angels that left heaven. That's always the first thing that jumps into my head when this discussion begins.
Love those books
With Saltmarsh arriving soon would you two be willing to do an episode on vehicles and travel from using them to adventures centered around them? From ocean to space or horse drawn carriage to lightning rail.
Good topic! Thanks!
13:30 What's this? A Fighter proficient in SOCIAL combat?! (aggressive negotiations ensue)
I like having Aasimar as part of a 'spectrum' of plane-touched people in a setting.
One of my players is doing a Fallen Aasimar that is the Blood Cleric for a goddess Fate and Death
Essentially she was a tool to do very bloody work in the fall/battle of the gods in the campaign I wrote.
I wanna make a scourge Aasimar conquest paladin whose visions while he sleeps are just war flashbacks
Yes, yes, yes!! My favourite race! Thanks for sharing your thoughts!! ❤❤😇
Woo!
Straight up liked this because of the Dogma references
After watching your Teifling video, I’m now imagining what the Aasimar product of a more exotic looking angel would look like. Maybe 6 wings, more eyes than necessary (even if they don’t function) illusory wheels encircling them, or maybe just when they cast spells
I vote six wings, because Wingweaver was my favorite Yu-Gi-Oh! card back in the day.
My first major character was an Oath of Devotion paladin / Divine Soul sorcerer Assimar multiclass. An absolute gem of a combination
I’m playing an asamar grave cleric who just took a rogue level and y’all gave a bunch of great, interesting suggestions
Y'all should make one for Warforged. Got a new player starting to play one as an Artificer. Y'all's videos are amazing!!!
i have a concept for an aasimar barbarian who is on a quest to kill his evil ancestors (a lich and a fallen angel)
Something i've always wanted to play: storm herald (desert) scourge aasimar. Just come in and make one explosive entrance
Storm herald?
@@kylestanley7843 it might be called Herald of the Storm, but it's a subclass for barbarians in Xanathar's Guide to Everything.
My fave player character so far was an Aasimar Bard. Super chill PC, lol
Scourge Aasimar monk is my favorite. Drunken master, getting up in people's faces while your radiating energy.
Specifically in regards to prophecies, I gave a player a magic item called Fate Spun, which is a magic ring that showed him a prophetic vision of his death, and he can’t die until that death. Pretty simple, but something fun.
I really want to play noir detective asimar 'I'm not a good man honey, I'm a survivor.'
I wonder if it would be possible to make a race that is half assimar and half tiefling
Best intro yet, easily.
I love the new logo at the end!!
Best opening yet. Bravo.
I'm an assimar female warlock/sorcerer who's netruel evil with the fiend as patron and it's really funny to watch the dm try and fit me in the story
Interesting choices abound when you choose Aasimar!
