The quest for the Moonlight Greatsword, was possibly the most interesting quest in Elden Ring. It took you to so many awesome places, so many amazing venues and interesting boss fights that it in and of itself, could have been an entire Souls game.
Ranni is by far my favorite NPC. 1. Because she looks cool. 2. Her quest line is so interesting and long. And finally, Ranni’s ending is, in my opinion the best one.
I love how the spirit summons are shown to be absolute lads in these videos. The player goofs up and shakes in terror, the summons are always like LETS DO IT >:(
It misses that big AoE attack he keeps spamming when you're very very close and that keeps getting you until you realize you can just run away to avoid it
Also ya know Mimic tear, Adulas greatsword, rannis dark moon, dark moon greatsword, Tiche, multiple Somber 6 & 7s. Quite a bit of the best shit in the game is hidden behind rannis questline xD
I love the attention to detail( in all facets of the video, but) by including a little known fact that reducing your equip load lessens the damage of gravity spells against the player! Great add and great tip to anyone who did not know!
I DIDN’T KNOW THAT. Thankfully, I was too overleveled for Astel because Fextralife made me paranoid, saying he’s one of the hardest bosses and all. Ended up killing him on the second or third try with mimic tear + halo scythe+10. Never had to worry about the gravity magic because I stayed close, just had to watch for the kamehameha.
As a long time Carbot fan, I’m so happy to recognize some familiar voices being reutilized on his present works. Mephisto’s voice was very fitting to Astel
0:04 Welcome back to Lake of Rot. Grand Cloister to be exact. We Carbot made new friends. Everyone hates this location and so do I. 0:14 Sleeping in a coffin in a Fromsoft fashion will always get you something interesting. Here you progress the story. 0:22 Happens to the best of us (can't say if Carbot is one of them, but it happens to the best). Carbot here by accident drank one of the healing potions when he wanted to drink the mixed one because that one probably Carbot made to have good effects before going into the fight. 0:25 This is Astel, Natural born of the Void. This thing is basically the final form of the Falling star Beast. What is on it's head is not just an eye, it's the eye of the Beast that is left there. This thing is I think based on an Ant Lion living process. Look it up. 0:40 This thing has VERY flashy attacks, but for instance this laser beam can get stopped by small rocks you hide behind. Performance issue. 0:45 I think he summoned here one of those annoying Sword Birds. They are not as threatening with this as they are to you. 0:48 He also has instant transmission 0:52 He uses it to backstab you 0:55 Spirit Summons are usually not that strong, but they are a good distraction 1:04 He can also pull Living Failure from Bloodborne and do attack like this. Surprisingly not THAT hard to dodge. 1:10 And this attack is a Falling Star Beast attack. No gravity for a moment and you get slammed into the ground. A nice reference to what it really is. Also this type of beasts may or may not have been held back by Radahn when he was alive and kept stars from moving. He was stopping an alien invasion. And you killed him. Congratulations Simp. 1:23 Oh ho. Carbot seems to have learned ultimate strategy... or he is willing to sell his body for victory. Either one could be the case. 1:28 The former one. Yup. Iframes are key in many bossfights and once you don't have any armor you can roll pretty damn far and fast. Good on this boss fight and somehow dodges his gravity attack. I guess even gravity can't stand up to Iframes. 1:40 You fight Astel to get to this elevator. No you can't get it unless you kill it. 1:48 Welcome to Moonlight Altar. Specifically Cathedral of Manus Celes. An area right above Albunaric Village on previously impossible to get to plateau. Another hint towards Carians being tied to Nox people and Albunarics since they are made as next step of the mimic tears of lost cities. Here you find Ranni who killed her 2 Fingers with the knife you gave her. Ultimate escape from clutches of Greater Will. 1:53 There is a ring you can find that you can give to Ranni. You can find it next to Rennala after you beat her. 2:03 Yes. In the game you put it actually on her finger. You become her husband or wife actually and her consort (much like Mogh tried with Miquella, make of that what you will). Now you can do an ending that involves her. But more on that later. It is questionable how good it is, but that is mostly speculation anyway. 2:06 Seems like in this version though Carbot was just having a mental breakdown because Ranni would not look at him and he made up in his head that he can be her husband. Let us all pray he takes his meds finally. 2:17 Also you get Moonlight Greatsword with this quest, a staple of Fromsoft. Sadly it's not the coolest version of it, that one is in Bloodborne. Also I prefer DS2 version too personally. The real one. But this one is pretty damn good too and can help out with some bossfights. Especially one particular Bitch.
Great as always, but two quick things. Ranni killed her Two Fingers, not Three. Three Fingers is an extension of the Frenzied Flame. And because your character can be male or female, Ranni's cool with having a wife instead.
One of the best so far! Taking off his clothes to light roll was brilliant. Chugging the wrong flask. The gravity spells. So good. Also, RIP to Iijii and Blaidd. Two absolute chads.
Oh, that's right. The videos didn't touch on the sad fate of Blaidd at the end of the quest. Might be awkward to show that AND sell his plushies at the same time. Iji I would feel bad about, too, but he stole his name from my favorite indie game, so meh.
