Watching dad when his wife delivered that baby breech was incredibly beautiful. I pray the couple and they’re baby Chloe are still wonderful, happy and healthy all these years later. The boy with the elbow injury was precious, “snakes and snails and puppy dog tails….” He was quite a champion. All of the patients getting thru their terrible day was a relief that’s for sure!
I actually had tears in my eyes when Iona was delivering her baby, I can't imagine how traumatic that must have been for her. I wanted to just sit with Ashley, poor guy, I'm so glad he's feeling better. I hope Joanne and her dad are doing well, what a horrific thing to happen.
I absolutely 💯 love the stories ❤ told about the hospital beds and think that this is a wonderful way of telling the tales of the people who are assigned those beds.
I'm sorry... But I feel like some people might have misunderstood the situation with iona. As I understood it, She was SCHEDULED for a cesaerian, but they couldnt do it at the scheduled time, because there were emergencies, so women and their baby's who were at risk of dying. At that point iona was not one of them. It was a pretty awful turn of events for her to actually go into labor, and that fast that they couldn't do a c-section anymore. Yes, it was probably a horrific experience, but I don't get that so many are blaming the hospital. Even if there were more doctors and beds, there still could have been more emergencies so that iona wouldn't have been the first to get a surgery. This would have happened in the US as well, in a situation like this, or in any other 1st world country. There is not a perfect system and even if there was, sometimes things go wrong or take unplanned turns of events. Horrible, but not really avoidable...
They're lucky it's not an American Hospital, the malpractice suit for what they did to Iona would have been in the millions. Most disgusting medical practice I've ever seen!
"with a spinal anesthetic she can't push as hard" is BS. I've had both epidural and non epidural natural births and could push the same with both. I'd like to ask that male "doctor" just how many babies he, himself, has given birth to.
Lady E Me oops you wrote my mind down I love that episode so Amazing :) exciting for any person to watch :) so vivid we feel like we are there in the scene :)
I can identify with Joanne and her father... I have degenerative disc disease, arthritis throughout my spine, cervical stenosis and severe herniations. I am certain that it is from a car accident I had in my late 30's I am now in my 50's and it just started to be symptomatic. I was told by a orthopedist that I need surgery but there are issues with my insurance company and I have had to delay it. Even a minor spinal injury is scary because it can seem mild at the moment, but lead to nerve damage and paralysis later on. I worked as a CMA years ago, and medical programs fascinate me...
It seems they take such risk with these pregnant women. Obviously adequate staffing is a very serious problem. You may have beds but you don't have staff! Sad.
Apparently, because English hospital visits are tax-supported, folks with negligible bumps and scrapes show up in the emergency department. In most American hospitals, the triage staff would put these people back on the street pronto.
When the nurse or doctor was slapping Ashley‘s veins, I felt every slap. When I go in for anything that I have to have an IV for I tell them right off the back. You don’t come near me if you slap my veins they’re very, very painful ever since I turned into a type one diabetic at nine years old and I will not stand for that now. That was 53 years ago. I have a double bypass open-heart surgery coming up in August and they’ll know not to slap my wrist because I just don’t allow it. It’s gonna be my 22nd surgery.
Peroxide will take out the blood in your shirt! It will also remove protein based stain…..I keep a spray bottle bottle handy….I hope you recover from your accident quickly! 💞
maternity area was horrific system, like an assembly line in factory. Not blaming staff, not their fault but that whole thing was one of the worst things I’ve seen
Do u mean at this hospital or any hospital? Bc I can tell u from an experience it's not fun working in a hospital especially NHS hospital non stop constantly ringing buzzer annoying self entitled patients who think they are in a 5 star hotel believe u me in a hospital the healthiest people are the patients ☹
No. The u.s. is now treating patients how a third world country treats patients. We've went wayyyy overboard. Only certain ppl get narcotics now ... And it's the ones whom are truly addicted and all up in the pain clinics. The rest of us get to suffer
A &E hospital needs to build a bigger hospital, and get more qualified Drs their. You could stop all other emergencies, and have them go to another hospital! I've watched almost your entire series, and you always seem to have the problem, NO BEDS!! I'm glad I'm in the USA when I've needed help. No problems with treatments or getting admitted. Shame, shame on your hospital. However, great programming. Love the video series.👍😁
American hospitals have the same problems when it comes to bed availability and wait time in emergency rooms. Instead of making people wait forever in the ED, they hurry up and discharge patients that have a high chance of readmission. No healthcare system is perfect however
@@usnicker yes but there is not the chaotic mess that maternity unit was. BUT if the US does not STOP unfettered immigration requiring free care, we will see what UK is experiencing

To the woman giving birth to the breech baby you are a complete rock star! Congratulations🥳
“Secret Life of the Hospital Bed.” Pretty ingenious to whoever thought that up. Way to go!
I’ve met a hospital bed a LOT more than 3 times in my 48 years on planet earth. Absolute genius to come up with a documentary about the hospital bed!

Great nurse n Dr. care.
Poor Ashley all alone when he's been through so much.

Hanna B totally agree with you !
But they could have given her a tocolysis which would have stopped the contractions..

Love this show. Thanks for your channel.
My heart hurt for iona when they strapped her in. Her husband holding her as she dealt with a horrific birth 😢
Oh my gosh I know, how horrible especially for your first baby!!

Me too!! I love these shows so much!! Does anyone know how long ago these were filmed?
What a beautiful baby! ❤
Wow, those ladder people are so lucky to be alive!! That could have ended very differently

@Joanne Anderson yes but the govt does nothing about it decades and decades it has been so

They make that poor woman wait 2 hours 😡 horrific
Angie Quintero 2 hours is fast for the nhs.. it’s not uncommon to be waiting upwards of 4-6 hours

He fell off his bike??? Wasting precious ER space!
I'm just wondering why they didn't give any tocolysis to Iona?!
I wished this had cc my hearing is getting hard. What was the keg/foot part they put on the table at 40:19? The baby was so cute.
Padded items, attached to the stirrups @ end of the bed, for her legs comfort between pushes!
Awesome staff, doing amazing work. Especially with so little resources now days with government cuts
Immigration needs to be greatly reduced until govt can get a handle, not enough resources is injuring and killing people
Poor women waiting 2h for delivery causing stress for her and baby :(
I was getting stressed just watching.
and not being checked to see if shes progressing!
Unfortunately it happens EXCEPT would never happen in the private hospital wings for the elite - ever
Can you upload the rest?

They wait sooooo much to delivery the baby 🤦🏻♀️ horrific
My gosh how horrible.... heartbreaking
I have a question. When they say A&E, I know the E stands for emergency, but, what does the A stand for?
Shelley Scales Accident
Lol I thought it was “ambulance” 🤷🏻♀️😆 oops. I guess you learn something everyday……
In another series a nurse refered to it as "anything and everything"... Funny
Wow on the pain killers.. they just hand them out like candy..
I think I can honestly say , if my first child had been a breach. I definitely would Not have had any more.

Johns mom sits appathetic on her phone, at least say something. If he needs stitches, convince the child.
Most hospitals and doctors would of used any free operating room in Ionas case,it's not idea but they would have.
😊😊❤😊❤Je je owoe eh 😅😊😊❤😊
Bed 9 is a gurney in the middle of the hallway...WTH is that!!!
Often seen in the USA, too; when overcrowding occurs. Stretchers, really, not a bed.
I guess they couldn't just use the word "exit?"
Go mom! Wow. Nope not me
A Q tip would have been better to use the whole time .JS.

Sure give out pain medication freely. Is everyone in UK addicted?
Think Coast Guard paramedics could be trusted to disperse wisely.
