    I just ordered a Yonder black with stonewash blade arriving Wednesday! I loved Zac’s UA-cam video on it. Makes it kind of special. Thanks for the review! 👍🏻

    Hey Boss. Thanks for another really great post!! And like all your videos in general, you sprinkle technical, hard factual nuggets throughout, all the while keeping it moving. My other favorite knife channels are good at making me lust after knives, but you explain the nuts and bolts of why I want it. ✨🐱

    On my 2024 X-mas list to Santa I've got the Civivi Odium small damascus and the Civivi Baby Banter with a red blade. I don't own a Civivi yet so here's hoping Santa gets me at least one of 'em.

    They should just make the original Sentinal in Nitro V. That wharncliffe shape has always been nasssty.

    The Yonder gives me Griptilian vibes
    I like the design, but am I the only one who doesn't like the edge so far away from the end of the finger guard? Also, does the gap between the edge and the handle create issues when cutting rope? I find that if I slip, the material ends up in that spot and I have to stop and reposition my knife when that happens

    Why the love for Nitro-V versus D2 in a folder? D2 should have way better edge retention.

    • @vanhamlin
      @vanhamlin 3 місяці тому

      D2 is not stainless, nitro-v is. Just trade offs, both good value steels but different use-case

    • @monkpato
      @monkpato 3 місяці тому

      @@vanhamlin I don't know. D2 is plenty stainless for my needs, and I never hear people complain about D2 rusting on them, but I get that some people may value that aspect more. However, I don't understand the current trend of acting like Nitro-V and Co out perform D2 in the cutting department.

    • @vanhamlin
      @vanhamlin 3 місяці тому +1

      @@monkpato- i like them both. Wautaga and Royal in D2 are some of my favs and they do cut super well I'm just a sweaty guy in a humid summer climate so i lean more toward higher corrosion resistance in the spring/summer because I've had issues with corrosion in the past.

    I am happy that Civivi introduced the Nitro V on the Sentinel. But ??? I won't buy it because I would prefer that they keep the same blade shape that I love. When I bought my Sentinel it was for the scales that look a lot like an integral and also the blade that look like the WE version. With the new one, I lost what I prefered

    I wish they had swapped out the K110 for either 440A or 7Cr17MoV both of which are better than nitro V and known to be the greatest steels of all time. Which is why it’s used on the Gerber sumo Tell the world!!!

    • @wes.killed.it.5511
      @wes.killed.it.5511 3 місяці тому +2

      This has gotta be a mild troll, because no one would ever say that 7CR17MOV and 440A are superior steels to Nitro-V lol
      Both subjectively and objectively speaking; Nitro-V is a modified version of AEB-L which is a fantastic steel with excellent toughness (one of the best stainless offerings currently), with great corrosion resistance (Nitro-V has added Nitrogen which stabilizes the hardness of the blade like Carbon does) yet it also makes it extremely stainless in nature (Nitrogen is what gives Vanax-Super Clean its corrosion prevention superiority), and it also has very generous edge retention capability with its added vanadium; giving the edge a finer carbide structure and the ability to be hardened to a higher HRC.
      This isn't a "we'll have to agree to disagree" kind of thing...Steel structure and it's elements are objective and based off science, meaning we know what specific traits/characteristics steels will excel in, and with those compounded traits we can conclude which steels are superior or inferior. Now obviously when comparing something like 14C28N to AEB-L, or S30V to S35VN, these steels show a significant amount of similarities in there composition and therefore an argument can be made for one or the other being superior. But when it comes to Nitro-V and 7CR17/440A, it's not a question which is better. Custom knife makers (folders, fixed blades, and kitchen knives) would be using 7CR17 on knives rather than Nitro-V if the opposite were true.

    I’m getting back into cold steel. It would be nice to see Civivi make a true hard use knife. It’s annoying that they took this long to make a crossbar lock.
