    Fuji, make an all weather X camera. Same concept here’s but with a 1” sensor and faster prime lens.
    Think of an smaller all weather X100 type camera with smaller sensor.

    Thanks for producing this review. The XP140 does not have a dedicated Macro button like the XP130. How do you shoot Macro Photography with the XP140?

    • @fujiguys
      @fujiguys  5 років тому +3

      That's correct Howie. The XP140 will automatically determine if the focus is in the macro range and will adjust. The XP140 will focus as close as the XP130 (9cm).

    Can you exaplain me why you do not test a waterproof camera underwater?

    • @fujiguys
      @fujiguys  5 років тому

      Thanks for asking Fillippo. When we record these videos the cameras we use are pre-production and may not be final build quality and may not be completely waterproof.

      The microphone stops working when it goes underwater, and then stops working above water because it is full of water. Eventually the microphone starts working again when it drys out.

  • @howieyoung9520

    Hi - I find the water themed videos I shot with the XP140 at 24P appear very quickly, not at a regular speed. The water will look like it is moving super fast. I had a similar problem with the XP130. Videos looked super fast and the audio and sounds of the water flowing sounded quick as well, not natural. I find the video quality not to be as good as some camcorders and other point and shoot cameras.
    I like to shoot nature water videos, and have the camera sit in the flowing water, whether it be water flowing down a street during a rain storm or sticking the camera in a man made landscaped fountain with water flowing down a hill. The camera can be placed half in the water and half out.
    What video settings do you recommend for shooting the following videos: 1. everyday videos; 2. shooting water videos - underwater, above water, half in the water, and half out, etc; 3. animals?
    Which modes allow for the continuous focus video mode to be selected?
    Was any of this video shot with the XP140?
    Thanks.

    • @fujiguys
      @fujiguys  5 років тому

      Hi Howie. Thank-you for reaching out with your questions....Our suggestion for checking your videos would be to try a different program/player on your computer to see if they play back at a more normal speed.As the XP series of cameras are sealed from the environment, to prevent water ingress, the microphone is also sealed, and any movement that includes brushing up against the camera may cause unintended sounds. Try turning on the wind filter to reduce the effect.Everyday videos can be recorded at 1080/59.94P. You might try recording your water videos using high-speed recording. This can create some unique effects.The XP series feature continuous AF for movies. Try and position your main subject close to the centre of the frame and/or have it with higher contrast to the background.
      Hope that helps.

      Tracy N Thanks for reaching out. It turns out that with the introduction of iOS 13, this app is affected and might not work with all iOS devices.
      We are working on a solution and thank you for your patience until a resolution is released.

      While we can not specifically endorse any remote app, one we are aware of is Cascable. Although we can not speak to it's compatibility to your camera and/or phone.

    Hi.
    A very good video - thanks!
    I would use this for hiking and taking pictures and videos for my youtube channel.
    Questions:
    1. How is the video stabilization?
    This is important to me as I often take videos while I'm walking (as a way of making the audience feel like they are with me).
    I've not had good success with my previous small camera (Nikon) as the videos were "shaky".
    2. How is the battery longevity, based on your usage? I would probably buy a second battery.
    3. Can I put a 128 gb card in? When I'm on a 10-20 day hike, I will be taking a lot of still pictures and videos
    I appreciate your help.

    • @fujiguys
      @fujiguys  5 років тому +1

      Ken Brenner Hi Ken. Thanks for asking. The XP140 does feature IS and corrects for minor shaking during video recording.
      The battery is rated for 240 still shots. We don’t have the specifications for videos.
      The XP140 will accept 128GB SD-XC cards.

    I used to have an older model of this the XP-90 and wanted so much to like it but in the end didn't care for it all that much. My cheap $50 cell phone was taking just as good of shots. Has the image quality improved at all? Was great under-water but on land it sucked as I was getting a lot of dark fuzzy shots on sunny days.. Also has the Microphone improved at all? The XP-90 had a very distorted sounding MIc..think I even hear that distortion it in this video of yours a little? It was so bad it made everyone sound like they were talking through a Kazoo. Would love to re-buy one of these and try again but I'm not so sure after my last experience. I've stuck to my $150 Sony WX80 with full AVCHD video in clear stereo sound. Problem is I keep destroying them because it's not water proof or even summer heat proof. Wish someone would come out with an affordable camera that's up to the WX80's video and image quality only water, weather, and shock proof. If these companies expect to sell these point and shoot cameras then the quality needs to be brought up to a higher level. In truth point and shoots have been at a stand still for almost the last 10 years. Some of them have even gone backwards in quality. One must spend big bucks now to get the same quality back they used to be able to get for cheap.

      @fujiguys  5 років тому

      Thank-you for your feedback and input.
      Given the XP series of cameras are sealed, there is the trade-off of sound quality; as the microphone is also sealed. The engineers are always looking at improvements from one generation to the next and the XP140 has many improvements over the XP90.

    I've been searching/researching cameras for the past two weeks. The XP140 seems to have all the features I am looking for and is not overly expensive. I'm finding good references for the camera picture and video specifications & features but not much commenting on the audio quality. Are there any artifacts like hearing the camera refocusing during filming? How would you rate the video audio quality? Also, is there underwater audio recording?
    EDIT: I downloaded the manual and found this: "Note that the microphone may pick up lens noise and other sounds made by the camera during recording."

    • @fujiguys
      @fujiguys  5 років тому

      Hi Ron, The camera does have an internal microphone. During recording, if you use the mechanical zoom, then you will hear the motor of the zoom. using the digital zoom will eliminate any audible sound during zooming. There is no audible sound during focusing. We hope this helps!

      @@fujiguys Thanks for the reply. I decided I needed to go to a camera shop (their web site said they had an XP 140 in stock) and look at these things in person rather than only web based reviews. Turns out I didn't get there in time and they no longer had it. They did have other items I had been researching so I ended up with a Canon HF R800. It was only about $25 more and has an external mic capability. Additionally it has a mode to eliminate camera sounds in video recordings. It doesn't have underwater capability nor the rugged casing the XP 140 does so I just have to be more careful! :-) In any case, now I can move on to making my first UA-cam video!

    • @roncripe6123
      @roncripe6123 5 років тому

      After 6+ hours of study and testing, this HF R800 can do some amazing things with pics and vids. I even took a pic of a motherboard cpu socket that rivals a pic I saw done with a microscope! But this too suffers from zoom and focus mechanical noises. I begin to wonder if there are any that don't no matter the price? Seems an external mic may be required to get around this problem.
