- In this video we talk to you about Mali, a country located in the heart of West Africa, unique and fascinating for its history and culture. Its past as the center of ancient empires, such as the Ghana Empire and the Mali Empire, has left a great historical and cultural legacy.
Despite its size and the difficulties posed by its desert and semi-desert environment, ethnic groups such as the Bambara, Fulani, Dogon and Tuareg live in Mali.
Desertification is affecting its arid and semi-arid lands, threatening agriculture and the livelihoods of its people. Tensions and conflicts in the north of the country, often linked to ethnic problems and the presence of extremist groups, have led to periods of instability.

I live in Mali, my family is African and they live in Bamako. I'm so happy to share this with you guys

have visited 6x Timbuktu, twice Gao with the pink dune, several times Djenné and Mopti, a few times Bandiagara, travelled 6 days on a camel through the desert with a local Moorish guide from Timbuktu. It is a very fascinating country with wonderful people, but when Islamic terrorist took over in the north and I was once threatened to be killed during a trip in the desert, I have not gone back.

I was about to say the same thing.
I look forward to going there and searching for the origins of the Fomba family. Three of my family members were taken by the French to Mauritius and later to New Orleans, when the British kicked them out during the invasion. The way I understand it, the name Fomba reflects the intermarriage between the Mandinka and the Peul.

Interested in knowing more about Mali and the Mandinka Tibe of West Africa cause tho I have 11% Mali I also have 20% of Cameroon, Congo and Western Bantu people. All to together 58% African more than I thought cuz of my European/ Puerto Rican heritage!

As a Malian I can confirm there’s tons of sand storms😂 while I was at the village fana visiting my grandma while we were cooking some rice it started raining very badly and the wind was blowing a lot!! Suddenly our eyes started hurting and we saw lots of sand flying our grandma and relatives quickly ran to take all the drying clothes shoes and pots pans etc inside it was very fun and my brother and cousins ran outside and it was very muddy when they came back they were covered in sand! We also went to Bamako and a tornado happened and our mansion electricity ran out and my auntie and my brother and uncle were at the basketball court but since my other uncle had took the car they had to run home in the middle of a tornado and when they came I only saw papa (my 16 year old uncle) and manman (my 20 year old auntie) so I was concerned why my brother didn’t come and they replied that he wanted to stay longer with ba my 18 year old uncle and 30 minutes later they came soaking wet! They said to not say Tornado 3 times or the tornado will come and destroy our mansion. They said how there was so many people running at the farmers market and how big the tornado was! Sometimes Mali’s weather is exciting but dangerous. Most of these are due to because mali is located in the desert but I’m proud to be a Malian and I’m happy to be back in the USA!

Botswana is the one country that developed and improved because of mining. That's because they became independent first, nobody messed with them because there was nothing to exploit, and then the diamonds were found.
