I pretty much know this stuff. I'm just not confident. This just made me more confident. I just need to learn that EQ and other plug-Ins. Thanks for making this video.
This was the absolute most helpful mixing video that I've ever seen! Concise, clean, effortless, & your accent is killer! Thank you tremendously for sharing...hyper grateful. ;D (instant subscriber)
For real. Ive seen mixing videos and all they do is talk. They do not show anything. After watching this video, I feel like I put too much into my FXs for my sounds. This is wild. Lol
Ocean MY MAN, this was super helpful to get some clarity with this.. The one thing that always holds me back from the creative process is the tweaking of sounds and over thinking will this sound good in any scenario. I really want all of my beats to sound the exact same in terms of volume and sound quality of individual tracks. Right now I'm all over the place.
I also mix along the way. Now before mastering the output should peak at around -6db. Only problem is I don't know how to master, and I don't use any mastering plugins like Izotope. Mastering just polishes a song off, so for now I guess I could get away with mixing everything so that my stereo output peaks at 0 to 3 db without clipping.
Appreciate what you do bro. Just got a PC and started dabbling in bandlab/cakewalk. Only using free shit till I get better. Learning a lot from your vids, even though I'm using different software. Keep it up man. It's appreciated
Yo I've been making beats since October after a very long 9 year drought and this is exactly what I've been looking for since buying logic last month 🙌🏾, thanks fam!
telling people exactly how to mix yo bro thats real tho. You're an inspiration in this music industry and thank you for all the great videos im a rapper and make beats myself and believe me itss safe to say you've got a new subscriber, thumbs up and notification squad right here fr.
Ocean , Should I be converting my midi tracks to wav first and then mixing down as wavs? Will it make a big difference? Your thoughts welcome. Thanks a lot Bro !!!
yea bruh, you want to bounce your midi tracks into wav audio before mixing. Keep them all as their own separate tracks though like you see in the video so each sound can get mixed properly.
I really appreciate this video! Watched once and implemented it to my beat. Straight Heat! Watched a second time a took notes in my music book. Thank you so much!!!!!!!!
Ocean, whats the video where you explained separating the drums in a manner where they stay in phase, or where if I'm using a kick and a 808, how they want sound muddy and still be distinguishable. If that makes since
You shouldn't usually turn down all the low frequencies in your melodies, just really any low frequencies that interfere with your 808s. If you turn down all low frequencies in the melody it wont sound as full
The analogy of the EQ is a container, is perfect. thanks
I pretty much know this stuff. I'm just not confident. This just made me more confident. I just need to learn that EQ and other plug-Ins. Thanks for making this video.
Ocean GOAT’d 🐐
"Turn it down until it stops clipping"
Soft clipper: am I a joke to you?😂😂

8:30 I like putting a bit crusher on the kick make the resolution 24 and downsampling at 1 and turn the drive. It’s soft clipping
I use fl but I watch ur vids just to get a sense of what logic is like. 🔥🔥

This is the best explanation of EQ I have found. Thanks bro. I got +1000 EXP for this one
Very well explained brother, you dope💫
The most important things for mixing are the simple things we all know but often overlook
Thanks for the great tips bro! Lets lift it up with music everywhere for all the sisters & brothers around the world
Getting so wrapped up in complex actions, but now it seems soooo obvious about the low and high end eqing. I could slllap myself
I really appreciate this video!
Watched once and implemented it to my beat. Straight Heat!
Watched a second time a took notes in my music book.
Thank you so much!!!!!!!!
How do you mix in the vocals? Any mix vid with vocals involved?
Great video!
Great, this has really taught me as a beginner
🙏🏿
I always gain stage before even begin mixing gives me headroom to play with
Ocean, whats the video where you explained separating the drums in a manner where they stay in phase, or where if I'm using a kick and a 808, how they want sound muddy and still be distinguishable. If that makes since
beat is fire
if you ad a limiter to the master project instead of turning all the channels down at once it will help reduce clips
Thank You! This is superb!
🙏🏿💯
What exactly are busses and what do they do? If you cover this in another one of your videos will you please link me to it? Thanks!
Dope! Needed this, thanks
🙏🏿
4:13 you’re changing the bus volume but your bus has no reverb on it...???
lmao true... ocean please explain are you cappin ?

THANK YOU MAN VEEEEERY HELPFUL
Do you pan at all? Bro?
Thanks you for this video! Its always helpful to learn a bit more
🙏🏿
This was so useful!
As an intermediate I would really loved if you could explain mono/stereo stuff on hip hop.
You shouldn't usually turn down all the low frequencies in your melodies, just really any low frequencies that interfere with your 808s. If you turn down all low frequencies in the melody it wont sound as full
What site do you buy your drum kits?
Awsome video my brother!
Thanks bro
Hey bro... it’s really fantastic! Thanks for this
Bro without a sound card , is mixing possible? What is the defference?
Keep it up Ocean thank you brother
Is there any difference between using a macbook Air or Pro when using Logic Pro X?
U just received a new subscriber
Do put a limiter or anything on the master to get it loud once you’ve turned everything down ? Do u compress kick sometimes ?
Nope none of that
You shouldn't add a limiter on the mix down cos it still needs to be mastered.
Helpful af 🙏🏼
as you said . subscribed
I’m new to beat making do you have any advice for the newby lol
Consistent practice and you'll get better over time 👌🏿
Super helpful!
I appreciate this video man 🖤🔥🤞🏼
If I turn down the faders and still notice it’s not as level as want should I turn things down in db? And if so by how much?
Keep up the good work wonderful 👌
🙏🏿🔥
Thank you!
🙏🏿
Would you recommend applying effects to master track during recording/mixing individual tracks ?
No. Nothing should be in the master track until mastering. If anything just bus it.
that ethcs sweater 🙆🏿♀️
🙌🏿
huge difference you put everything in their own lane
this video is so helpful
