I believe this was the first concert at the Metrodome. Also the last time the Dead came to Minnesota.
Thanks Okie Doke have a smoke!
Dead opened for Dylan, so just one long set, not two sets. The Humpty Dump.,What a miserable place to see a band. Actually sounds a little better than I remember it
Lol at "Humpty Dump." Surprised the Dead opened for Dylan, and not the other way around. Did they collab for a few songs?
@@EugeneAxe Not that night. They took turns headlining on that tour. Tom Petty was huge at the time. Minneapolis was the only one set show. Dylan sat in for a few songs during the first set in Akron and the last show at RFK.
As for the Humpty-Dump, I’d have to say that was my least favorite Dead show experience I remember. They played okay, I guess, crowd was too big, most came for Petty it seemed, and the acoustics stunk. Couldn’t wait to get out of there. Reminds me why I quit touring three years earlier. Only did this tour because the word was Jerry looked awful in spring, and this might be our last chance to see him before he croaked. He almost did, it turned out. “Trouble ahead Jerry in red” was the phrase of the day.
I was sitting next to some ladies, 25th on floor on Lesh, who won tickets in their office lottery and were very excited to see dylan. His set was almost incomprehensible due to the sound. The sound was like being in a rubber ball, back stack was audible in major echo a full second behind the stage. They kept asking me what song he was playing and I had to tell him i'm not sure.
@@MarcoS-yp9qf yup. That sounds about right
