You really should use the same lenses on both bodies to have fair comparison. 10 year old gear is still good and 24mpix is enough for most needs, unless your prints are poster size.

The point was to have the completely different camera and lens. The average person who owns an older camera is likely to have a kit lens like this, and not a lens that costs 4 times their whole setup. If they had that budget, I believe most would go buy a new camera kit instead of just buying a lens.

How is your *doll holder" called? Cause I have no idea how to look for it, but I think that I could need it at some point. Also, is it edit-cut out of the frame or is there some sort of invisibility magic?

Just look for "Doll stand" or "BJD支架" on taobao, that's the thing I'm using, just that I drilled a hole through the plate to attach it on my tripod.
The stand is edited out by stacking photos, but as it's a relatively advanced technique I'd recommend trying out PSAI first to get rid of the stand before going in for a full manual edit.

That L lens is making most of the difference, but yes, $5/k in gear will outperform $500 in gear as it should; otherwise, what's the purpose of a price point?
