Purpose was to make you watch the video, and it worked :)

The point was to have the completely different camera and lens. The average person who owns an older camera is likely to have a kit lens like this, and not a lens that costs 4 times their whole setup. If they had that budget, I believe most would go buy a new camera kit instead of just buying a lens.

Just look for "Doll stand" or "BJD支架" on taobao, that's the thing I'm using, just that I drilled a hole through the plate to attach it on my tripod. The stand is edited out by stacking photos, but as it's a relatively advanced technique I'd recommend trying out PSAI first to get rid of the stand before going in for a full manual edit.

I did it the caveman way, drilled a 1/4" hole with a power drill, then just used a tripod plate with the same screw size, bought bolts and nuts with the same diameters and tightened it on. You could do it the other way by drilling threads into the plate but this would be difficult and with just a few uses the plastic threads would not hold as strong as old fashioned brutal bolt and nuts.

What event did you go to? If its not a hobby centric event, most ppl aren't going to like dolls, and I really wouldn't recommend putting them down somewhere without someone looking after them.

@@AKTKLM in singapore we hold pivrate ones so we usually hold at some cafes, there isnt a dollfie event in my country as i know off beacsue the number of owners are jus that few

With dolls you only need that one specific angle. As long as it's not completely empty in the middle of nowhere anyone can do what I'm doing🫡

With how big Australia is and how little collectors there are it really doesn't help. From what I know Melbourne has quite a bunch but in Sydney there's really not much at all☹️

As someone who is trying to lighten their load out when taking doll photos, you don’t *need* flashes, extra lights, microphones, and the likes. They’re part of his pack because he uses them regularly and has probably built his kit over years and years. The short list is: Doll, camera, bag. Any camera will do. Used cameras from 10, even 20 years ago will still do the job as an entry point to learning if you’ve never used a camera before. Newer cameras just have modern features that are nice to have. (Looking at you, in-body image stabilization.) As far as bags go, I can’t make a recommendation there, because I am also a sucker for Peak Design bags. But if you do find yourself in need of flashes, you really can’t go wrong with Godox. They’re expensive, but they’re not Canon, Nikon, or Sony branded flash expensive. I would pay $200 or so for an AD200 every day of the week.

The bag I showed in that video IS the bag I bring out almost everytime unless I don't plan on using flashes, so it's quite literally an army morning march equivalent🥲

It's just one of those clear acyclic stands from Taobao, and I drilled a hole through it. 1/4" size to fit the most common screws of camera attachments so I could throw a normal tripod plate on it to attach to my tripod😉

They are strong enough to shoot under almost any circumstances but if you're shooting exclusively under mid day sun or need full output bursts, go for the AD200.

@@AKTKLM Sorry to bug you again. I would like to know more about your modded doll stand. What type of drill bit & size was used? I am a bit hesitant to drill my stand. Isn't acyrlic prone to cracking? Is the hole threaded or straight shot.

1/4" drill bit, to fit the same screws commonly used on most cameras. It's quite literally the default drill bit in a standard tool kit, and yes acrylic is prone to cracking so the only way to do it is go slowly and hope for the best.
