There are a few different wireless mic options you can use - I am using the DJI Mic but I am running it into my actual camera to record this video not the phone
As far as audio within the smooths 5s and smartphone set up, what and how do you make this work. do you connect a mic to the smartphone? record audio separate then sync?
@@notmattlara Thanks but I figured connecting cables would get in the way of the gimbals ability to make certain moves but I guess that's a trade off. Do you know of any good Bluetooth lavaliere mic that can connect with the smartphone?
Sorry I missed this, usually the cable is fine, I do a similar setup with my Ronin and my Canon camera. Most of them need a little receiver because bluetooth has some latency. The mic from Ulanzi is pretty sweet (unsure if you're using an iPhone) amzn.to/3Ut3LgO but you could balance the phone with the receiver attached, would make it a bit longer though for vertical mode -

Pretty good demo, but too bad you were showing things in such a dark setting; can’t really see what buttons you were pressing; you should have turned on the lights, or moved outside while showing the switches and buttons….. regards…. Ron
I also sent back my new Osmo Mobile 6 cause the Smooth 5S had so many more moves, and would handle my 14 Pro Max. I’m a bit miffed however that the smart follow, only works with the selfie camera (if you want to shoot 4K anyway). Makes no sense, and is annoying.
@@anpalcactus I only have the phone, but plan to get at least an ND filter, so really wanted to better weight handling of the Zhiyun. Are you asking in case that’s the cause of the follow not working? If you go to the app, set it up as 4K filming, and try to activate the intelligent follow, it says ‘not supported in 4K’. Which is strange cause it works quite happily on the selfie camera in 4K.
@@gordonrobb thanks! Not really in this case. I’m on my way of getting the gimbal for iPhone 13pro max with external lens. First I was looking for crane m3 which is great but later I discovered that it lacks not only integrity with eg filmic pro, but even with their app for iPhone to the level that it’s not possible to trigger record from the gimbal, let alone zooming. So now I’m looking for more mobile-friendly options but watched on yt a few videos that osmo 6 which would’ve been a nobrainer for me otherwise, fails with a bit of heavy setup including iPhone 13 Pro Max, case and lens. So looks like the only option (if we don’t count on some testing with overloading gimbal with counterweights which I don’t like) becomes smooth 5/5S and that’s why I’m asking :) gonna find someone and try it live before I buy it anyway now because couldn’t imagine such a trouble to find a working solution
One thing that pisses me off about this device. I want to use my my phone settings with the 5s. Not the apps. The apps do not allow me 4k at 60fps, or 8k. This makes me think I bought this without proper research,
yeah I feel that, I do typically use my regular phone app instead of their app since the gimbal still functions the same - you just lose the zoom or focus feature but that's it really-

I think you would have a hard time mounting it since the clamp is made for a phone but could be possible I suppose!

Do you use EIS or optical stabilization when your phone on gimbal?
Depends on the shot, most of the time it isn't needed but when I was doing the dolly shot I used it for 100% stability

Yep, I would attach a cold shoe mount to the side of the gimbal with a mic or wireless mic receiver such as the DJI Mic and plug it into the phone

@@anpalcactus I’ve seen videos of it working fine with 13 Pro Max with Moment case and lens.
Couldn't agree more with this, unsure why you can't use the rear camera for self tracking, I am sure it will be an update!! (hopefully haha)
