  • Here it is! The long awaited video in our Marlin Crawler RCLT HD series. Join us in our friend Alex's shop as he completes work on this epic lift kit install. This is no ordinary Toyota lift. Taking nearly three months of nights and weekends to finish, and with so many facets to the process, not all of the details could be covered here.
    Be aware - this is a new product that few people have installed to date, and some minor issues were uncovered. Alex found himself talking directly with Marlin Crawler to answer questions as he progressed. Luckily Big Mike from Marlin made himself available to us and provided support along the way. All in, the kit is very complete but requires some forethought and advanced wrenching skills. Do not purchase if you don't have the tools, the time, or the knowledge to get this done.
    We are stoked for Alex to finally have his truck back together and ready for action. Stay tuned for updates from the trail!

      I know the feeling. My truck likes tiny next to this rig! 33's are a great compromise for our trucks though, and require a WHOLE LOT LESS work to fit.

    Thanks for the video. I'm researching for my fj cruiser either solid axle (I think might be less expensive but way more fabrication) or RCLT.. this video helped alot. Definitely leaning towards RCLT since I'm not a very good fabricator.. now time to convince wife on why I need $12k for this mod.

    thanks for sharing.. hoping someday to get my truck up to this level for now it's my dd 2016 TRD OR with Dobinson MRA 2.4" lift kit, and 285/70/17's 32.9's... full skids, and sliders. was more interested in the steering rack as I do notice the tougher steering even on 33's... and have seen a little bit of seeping fluid on the boots.

    • @FurthurOffRoad
      @FurthurOffRoad  2 роки тому

      I’ve run the same size tire (285/70/17) on my truck for four years with no steering issues at all. The rack you need for this kit is out of a Landcruiser. In my opinion it would be overkill for anyone running less than 35’s. It also requires a significant amount of drilling and fab work to fit. Hope this helps.

    Very interstate how the alignment went! specially setting the caster, since having positive caster will return the steering wheel back to the center after making left or right turn. Also is the truck tracking straight? Or is it pulling to the left or right?

    Is it easier to install the cv after mount the lower spindle bolt Or would it be easier to install cv into spindle then bolt the spindle? I seen Fred on dirt everyday try to put cv in spindle with everything bolted. But would think bolt everything after you slide cv through the wheel bearing!

    How did u get the new steering rack in? What modification did u have to do to make it fit

    • @FurthurOffRoad
      @FurthurOffRoad  2 роки тому +1

      You have to drill out the crossmember and weld in a bolt fitting in the correct location to support the new rack. You also need to burn out one of the existing support bushings and install a replacement aluminum offset bushing provided in the kit. The new rack is obviously bigger, so it takes some wiggling to get it into place, but no other cutting on the crossmember is required.

      @@FurthurOffRoad Ah, I meant just a bit shorter to keep the droop to a non-binding level, you'd still have just as much uptravel (maybe more). I haven't seen anyone really cover up-travel limitation as it's being installed with big tires on stock-ish body rigs, and already requires mods to the infamous Toyota inner fender bumps to clear much up-travel.... and non-portal IFS suffers from the lower subframe bottoming out when you get big into compression travel.
