I once ran into a downhiller that also did cross country. He said downhillers share everything. Cross country trail riders would demand “hey, who took one of my energy bars!? Thought that was funny as I ride XC.
I quit RACING CAT 2 DH in co USA. no FANS.friends.NO CAMERAS NO HECKLERS. WAS just a wee cat 2 rider, but Still. CO USA. no dh love anymore. gonna ride moto in the woods instead. CHEERS.
I saw the one near the end where is the other. It never ceases to amze me how fast they charge through some of the rock gardens. I know they have a line picked out but goddam
Wow, great job! That type of riding takes amazing skill and strength and reaction. I'm nearly 63 years old and still ride trails up here in Michigan. So long as I don't get hurt, its helping to keep me young.
Mistakes are part of racing, but both of those lost you considerable time. Without those two issues, I think you were on for a top 30! Awesome speed on track.
The difference in skill level between you and me never fails to amaze me. I would have taken 20 minutes to get down that course. I also love the enthusiasm of the crowd. What a great sport! xx
This is some of the BEST MTB onboard footage ever. You really get a sense of the insane speed! GoPro effect is very minimal here. Cathro, you are a legend! I hope to see you in more races next year! You definitely have the speed!
Ben. You are an absolute legend. Only those two mistakes and you could have gotten higher up in the ranks. You were almost 11 seconds from winning. Those two mistakes cost you probably 5-6 seconds. That’s podium material!!! Keep up the good work.
i had a tricycle before i could walk and i ride everything from a foldable kids scooter to a 700lbs bike. i hope you realize that for us, normal people, the speed and accuracy and the saves you guys pull are just unreal.
How incredible it must be to hear all those people shouting your name and cheering you on! Congrats on making the finals for both rounds and putting in some solid runs! I get the feeling there will be a some more races next year and I for one cannot wait!
From someone who had a mountain bike when most of these champions were crawling: scary as just watching. The tech is obviously astoundingly good now, but when combined with such skills, the result is an incredible point and shoot - irrespective of the terrain. Blessed to be able to join you via your camera. Thanks for the ride👍🏻
england scoring a last-minute goal in the world cup final wouldnt scratch the surface of this film's intensity! absolute insanity that shouldnt be possible - awesomeawesomeawesome
One of the best camera angles and coverage of this race. It was nice to see where the bike was going and still see all the track. I enjoyed watching that! Like the other comments say, I'd love to see an analysis of this run!
Impressed!! I’m a cross country rider and am always amazed at those downhillers! Did see a few things that will help me like sometimes just riding over the rocks, etc. is the way to go instead of analysis-paralysis in the middle of. And make sure bike is maintained ship-shape always.
Looks very thrilling how close the trees are! I don´t have any knowledge downhill races and wondering how in the world bikes takes those rocks! Respect!
Your right up there with them Ben. Great to see you race, without those couple of moments your nudging up that board. Few more races under your belt next year, boom.
I've been watching street fight, and now this, and I can't help thinking, it's crazy, that I'm still alive and not totally bust up.. Scary ride - nice work.!
i'm 55, sitting in my easy chair with a glass of red wine, expecting to see... welll.... holy shit not this performance! epic, my man. EPIC. and you're not old! keep it up... i stopped mtn bike racing a long time ago, and live to see videos like yours.
Sick run! I was standing right in front of that washout at the end, hated to see it. I was rooting for ya. Hope to see you again next year! Stay healthy. Keep shreddin.
Jesus! That was incredible mate! Two incredible saves right there, but other than those, it's hard for me to see how anyone could possibly go any quicker. Up there with the worlds best Ben🤘
Thanks for the ride. In the beginning, I was thinking, this is not too bad and towards the the middle, I was thinking, holly schitzky. I would have eaten a tree or 6.
Old man at 33? You're in your prime dude. Killer run. Chapeau. Those yellow pads are hilarious. Just make the tree visible. Not going to do much at those speeds
One of my favorite things about this sport: every single spectator cheers their heart out for each rider
Unless he had the same group cheering him on in a trailer behind him all the way down the hill, the crowd noise was edited in.
I once ran into a downhiller that also did cross country. He said downhillers share everything. Cross country trail riders would demand “hey, who took one of my energy bars!? Thought that was funny as I ride XC.
@@nmstan3619 Yeah, and all Cross Country riders kick puppies off the trail too.
Yeah but it's fake on this one. Look and listen more closely.

To be fair Ben, I saw two incredible saves, let alone a really smooth fast run!!! nice one fella !!

@@zig3056 yes that’s the one. Ben said that he was so tired, his arms just buckled with the repeated hits in the rock garden
@@zig3056 wow that was quick I didn’t catch that
@@poa2.0surface77 So what's your point Mr grammar police? Has Mummy stopped you playing with your trainsets and so you're upset!😂
So good, would love to hear Ben's commentary and analysis of his own race run.
YES @Ben Cathro do a commentary of it please!
Yeah... this.

As a dirt bike racer, this is the only bicycle downhill video that I have ever watched. This is some scary shit. Im impressed. Balls of steel.
Wow, great job! That type of riding takes amazing skill and strength and reaction. I'm nearly 63 years old and still ride trails up here in Michigan. So long as I don't get hurt, its helping to keep me young.
Man, I only hope to be able to do the same thing when I get older! Keep up the fight!
Snowshoe is my home mountain. Still riding this DH trail without the bolder to bolder gap mid way, but at 59 still loving it
Mate, that was great. It's incredible to hear how much support you have on track. You're probably like the 3rd fastest dad, so a top 3 result !!
yeah it be pretty hard to beat troy wouldnt it....
@@jbflynn4134 And Danny Hart is also quite fast :P

You reminded me why I stick to the sedate cross country. Absolutely terrifying and incredible run. Loved it!
Damn someone ought to film a documentary of you making a comeback to racing world cups and put it on pinkbike or something….
True that's something I would really enjoy watching.
Yes, but Big Ben did that last year & did not go so well?
But so good to see him back racing world cups !

You sir, are a legend. That was insanely fast. You are a big part of why downhill is so good at the minute. Cant wait for next year 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘

Cathro, you are a legend! I hope to see you in more races next year! You definitely have the speed!
100%. Footage was so good I could see all the bad lines I would have picked!
Trying DH in your 40's with no experience is an eye opener. It's an assault on the body. How do you hold on like that at that speed? Insane. Kudos.
That slip at the end must've been worth a second or two......absolutely class. Excited to see a fit BC next year.
Ben. You are an absolute legend. Only those two mistakes and you could have gotten higher up in the ranks. You were almost 11 seconds from winning. Those two mistakes cost you probably 5-6 seconds. That’s podium material!!! Keep up the good work.
The support you had from the crowd as a Scot is unbelievable. Good on ya
The energy was great

That old man is going about twice as fast as this old man would, and to that I say we’ll done and cheers, Ben!
Good run Ben! Keep it up old man. I'm 61 and still like riding Snowshoe. Already have a season pass for next year... if I live that long. )

Both of those slips would have seen me covered with dirt! Great saves and great speed!
That was still an incredible run Ben. Nowt to be disappointed in. You qual'd and did 2 races. The support on the way down for you was crazy. Top ride.
