So I just went through the 25 beginner ranks. Started playing and losing at 24 after I was out of the newbie levels. Buuuut- I’ve since watched these videos one at a time. And I’ve copied the decks (and adjusted some cards I prefer) and have won each match since. I’m now sitting at 21 with a win streak. These videos are a great help! Thanks!
All the new cards!!! "ahahfggfgghlglglglgl" *drowns in cards* But seriously I really like them, especially that druid never ending legend and warlocks immune legend
I miss the classic neutrals actually seeing play. Future of Hearthstone, here! Nobody would even THINK of playing Boulderfist Ogre or Sen'jin Shieldmasta!
What to expect? If you're talking about the meta game (popular decks being played currently) it changes all the time, it would have to be regular updates. Currently a lot of aggro/rush are dominating lower ranks (zoo, face hunter) and control is everywhere higher
06:42 ...Trump makes some questionable observations about trades his opponent "should" have done. His opponent did make good trades against what was on the board and likely couldn't afford to play around Stormwind champ. Though the opponent did make some mistakes in earlier plays.
shinoobidan No, the opponent made the best play he could do with that card. If he used rockbiter on alakir (as trump says) and killed the fire ally and the ooze, Trump would have the same board, instead of having a 6/2 Fire ally he would have a 6/2 Frostwolf. But playing the rockbiter on the egg and damaging the fire ally gives him a 4/4 in the board
i love these old tutorials mostly because even though he's playing against people with stronger cards, because he's playing more favorable he wins with basic
Varun Ponnusamy Savage roar I have found to be mostly only good with the force+savage combo as a bunch of burst. With shaman you have no card that does anything like force of nature so bloodlust in shaman is not comparable to savage in druid
At 5:30ish I would have hero powered and frost wolfd instead of playing the ooze, planning on using my 7 drop on turn 7 to take out the loothoarder if necessary. Is this incorrect thinking? Is the idea to make them trade instead of hit your face or always assume they will trade?
More experienced players correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't it have been a better play at 6:04 to place the Nerubian Egg to the left of the Argus so the the snake totem isn't a free kill and the egg gets taunt and an attack value so that it can do some damage before dying and it would also create one more thing to clear out of the way before killing the Argus and hence get more value out of it?
Tall Knuckle he has some decent cards for rank 19 though, not to mention a heroic naxxramas card back. he obviously puts time into this and to make mistakes like that is frankly unexpected
Trump would you show this build against the paladin expert ai. I had problems with that one with my shaman so I tried your build and I won. However I tried again to see if it was a fluke and I lost the next 4.
Lower rank is better. You start at rank 25 and as you win, you get stars that will take you to a better rank, ultimately going for rank 1, and then legend rank.
So would this mean if you had a 2/4 and a 2/1 on the board, and your opponent has a 1/1, you would exchange the 2/4 for the 1/1 and keep the 2/1 on board, and if it's mage have him waste 2 mana on a ping?
+Markus Raffa That is correct, yes. Whenever you have the choice of trading in a bigger minion (that would survive) instead of a small one (that would die), generally speaking keeping your minions alive is the priority so that you keep the maximum possible amount of damage on the field - because as we know, damage is control. As you say, a Mage can kill the 2/1 but has to use 2 mana to do it, meaning they can't play as big a minion against you - or if he chooses to play an on-curve minion he'll leave your guy alive, letting you potentially trade up.
If I have a yeti and a river croc vs an opponent's yeti, should I run both my minions into his in order to kill it, leaving myself with a 4/1 yeti, or just hit face?
at the end there, why did you play totem instead of chillwind yeti ? By your own lesson of mana efficiency, wouldnt that have been a better move ? its not like it had an ability to withold like the elemental
because he already had a board strong enough to deal with whatever his enemy summoned, so he should save his cards. If the opponent cleared the board with deathwing or elemental destruction the yeti would have done absolutely nothing, but in his hand he can use it later.
Trump Reassess what you said about al akir trading :) What he did was correct, your way would still leave a 6-2 frostwolf overload on your side + the egg not activated. =]
Deaf...need captioning-may as well be russian or japanese for the access I have to it. The lessons that are captioned are great-does Trump even check these out any more???
Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think that is the list for the basic shaman. Like, I know that they don't get an archer, the crocodile, stormwind champ or bloodfist ogre. So is that a basic deck that you can do at lv 0? Or is it just a mistake?
+recino2 Blizzard probably changed the default "basic shaman" deck since this video was created. In any case, yes, all the cards he shows at the start are ones you start with. (And the ones he adds in are ones you get for leveling up.)
if it works on your deck then go ahead, usually if a deck has just one copy of it is because it might be for certain situations so you don't want to run into it as often as the cards you have x2, which tend to be more consistent and you want to draw more often.
Think about every card: if it's good, you want it in your hand, so put 2 copies in your deck. If it is average, and you don't feel you need it to win, better take it out to make space for something better. Or, make a legendary only deck and be awesome. Really :-)
Andrew Mignolet Perhaps consider cutting some of your spells for more monsters if you're finding that you aren't drawing your minions enough. It could also be a problem of you playing your minions in a way that your opponent can efficiently get rid of them while losing minimal minons themselves.
this people got own by trump using mostly basic cards. if they watch this video, they be like so embarrassed. plus, trump is also teaching us about the opponent should do a different trading.
These videos are designed as general guides. While the exact decks aren't quite the same in the new metas, their main cards are basic ones and class basics, so not much should change. What this video is hoping to accomplish is give you an idea on favorable trading moreso than a good deck to start out with.
at 4:00 I would've left the wolves alone and accepted a 3 for 1 trade by my opponent instead of wasting my rockbiter on half of a card and played the ooze instead which would have taken out the flametongue totem on the following turn
Trump, have you ever seen someone with your same battle tag? I fought someone named "Trump" today, but they were either terrible, or had the worst hand in the world. It was a handlock, I was playing murlock, he lost by turn 4, didn't even use any warleaders.
Most of the cards he's playing, if not all, are from the "basic" set, meaning people get them from levelling up. These cards don't have gems in the middle, as they're not "rare" or "common" in a booster pack sense. As for why Naxx cards have gems in them, you got me there.
Gralof Gaming Well, since you can craft golden Naxx cards the rarer cards are more expensive to make with dust. But that's all I can think of, no big difference there...
I'm actually surprised but it works. I tried running the basic Paladin deck that Trump used in the last lesson and I won against some upgraded decks which included Legends and so.. o.0 play your cards right and them basic decks can really show some potential.
***** Well the basic cards tend to be just that: Basic. They _work_. The Yeti is boring as F but he just is a solid card. Legendaries are often cool but pretty situational.
Hey, I've found my self going back to these videos multiple times and copying the decks. Here's a import of the base deck that trump made and the level 10 version of it for when you get to level 10 with the class in the reply. AAECAaoIBIUDxgTuBNkKDVrYAe8BgQK0AvAD4AT7BPEF/gWKB9AHlg0A To use this deck, copy it to your clipboard and create a new deck in Hearthstone.
He said he'd use gold cards when he has enough to make a full deck of them. I imagine the only reason his golden Cabal Shadow Priest is an exception is because the art for it looks amazing.
He won't DE a gold card, it's loss of value. He wouldn't craft a gold, it's also a loss of value. And he won't play a deck till it has all gold, including the hero to make all the cards the same. I imagine after he's got all the gold cards he will make a full gold deck.
idc if he plays in tsm, at 8:07 he should've played totemic call instead of the murloc, he couldve gotten a taunt, so his 7/3 didnt die, or if he didnt get a taunt, he still couldve killed his 7/3 and played the murloc next turn
Wow I never realized that a basic Shaman was so weak! there are no AoE or Overload spells that are buffed by those magic totems and no Unbound Elementals either! I think favorable trading is the ONLY way to win with a basic Shaman.
This deck lacks the board clear spells. Heck, there's none. And good luck getting it on the classic card packs. Cuz I'm a F2P player myself and not even one shaman board clear spells I get from it.
He did a good job covering the 2x Raptor vs. Harvest Golem scenario. Remember that Trump is trying to focus on just one subject each time so he'll probably ignore other points unless he simply can't or if they're reminders of a previous lesson. My only criticism on this video is that he seemed to rush through speaking his mind in a few spots to the point where someone new to the game would have trouble following. Not for lack of knowledge of the game but because Trump was talking a bit fast. Overall still good lesson videos.
Silly Trump also makes a mistake at 7:35. If the enemy made the trades that Trump said were better, then Trump would still have a Frostwolf Warlord and a Searing Totem on his board, instead of just a Searing Totem. Silly, silly, Trump.
i just came to the realization that ive been playing since last october.... holy shit its been over a year lol.... GIMME HEARTHSTONE ON MY ANDROID PHONE PLS ( i believe they said early next year.... any specifics on which month yet? )
He didn't make a mistake about anything at 5:00. Trading the wolf for the Shieldmasta was the right play since if Trump lightning stormed and killed the taunt the Shieldmasta would get to hit something else.
Seems a shame to the level 19 player you knock the shit out of. Everyones worst nightmare. A top quality player, under a veil of low level. This is why it is so hard to level up!
+koitheawesome English is mostly spoken very slow for some reason. I like it when people talk fast though because it gets more information across. I sometimes turn the speed of a video up to get it over with faster. :D
please please put more effort into these teaching videos. take your time to analyze a play (for example, by pausing the gameplay footage and doing a voice over)! the opponent's turn 8 was horrible, everything was played in the wrong order and/or in the wrong position, the defender was hurting him more than helping him (the gnome dealt 1 less damage than before, his flametongue got taunt instead of the egg or an possible non taunt hero ability totem). but the only thing trump said about this turn was "i like flametongue totems" quite disappointed ps: yeah yeah I know you are not allowed to criticize anything on youtube, may google have mercy with my soul
It was more a lesson on how to trade favourably as a shaman on your own side, rather than how to identify mistakes your enemy's made - and he can only talk on so much. He was probably just talking away about whatever he felt was important, but in that area I'd say either the viewer will pick up on the mistakes - they wouldn't need to know it - or the viewer /wouldn't/ pick up on the mistakes made, and probably need a lot more training. Therefore best to focus on one specific thing, rather than trying to cover every single thing that happened in the match. Goal focusing. : D Win win!
these videos are actually helping me, thanks for making these.
I don't need the tutorials but I still watch them lol.
Then maybe you need them? Never too late to learn something.
MrDarkentro After playing this game for a while and watching streams a lot it becomes very simple but you never know.
UNIDENTIFIED464 well, repeating the "basics" and hearing them spoken out by a pro, can improve your playstyle a bit, even if you play a long time
Not gonna lie, my game has improved thanks to these tutorials.

0:55 So many peoples' OCD would kick in and want to hover over the golden fire elemental to make it not say "NEW!"
TheRandomPerson 02 That has nothing to do with OCD
Poolemon Somewhat does
+Poolemon It does actually, Google OCD
+AscensionArmy I have OCD, been diagnosed. I can confirm it has absolutely nothing to do with OCD.
+AscensionArmy It doesn't actually, Google the DSM V definition of OCD.
Wow, he didn't greet him back. That's... barbaric.
You...You... MONSTER!
Disgusting barbaric monster.

This was one of the better tutorials for a beginner in the Shaman class.
Keep up the good work.
Wow under 301 views. Trump you are the best hearthstone teacher ever!
This series of tutorial helped me a lot!
And you're great as a teacher! Good Work!
very comprehensive infromation on gameplay and trading. SUBSCRIBED!
Really nice guide as always Trump!
i would love to see a real life hearthstone-pub with everything included. cards, mana, beer and all that sort of stuff
Probably there is one at Blizcon
Jens, trump reviewed these new cards on stream, are you going to upload video soon ?
Can I ask what other answer you expect than yes?
Sten Ostendorf www.hearthpwn.com/ Just keep scrolling
All the new cards!!! "ahahfggfgghlglglglgl" *drowns in cards*
But seriously I really like them, especially that druid never ending legend and warlocks immune legend
Why did they release sooooo many new cards at once now? They've been really stingy with them so far...
***** GvG gets released soon
Really enjoying this series! Thanks Trump!!
i literally built this deck 20 minutes ago and won 3 games in a row, still goin. lol ty for awesome deck and good explanation on how to use it.
What a blast from the past. One of the starts of Value Town, basically Vol. 5 of the set haha
Best one so far. Good job, Trump! :)
I would have loved to see this when I started playing Hearthstone!
Great video :)
Very nice video Trump everything was well explained I think you've finally figured out the best way to teach
I love this series, Very helpful for a new player like me.
I miss the classic neutrals actually seeing play. Future of Hearthstone, here! Nobody would even THINK of playing Boulderfist Ogre or Sen'jin Shieldmasta!
I really like this series but as a bit more experienced player could you make a what to expect series per class? That could also be useful
What to expect? If you're talking about the meta game (popular decks being played currently) it changes all the time, it would have to be regular updates. Currently a lot of aggro/rush are dominating lower ranks (zoo, face hunter) and control is everywhere higher
For a start, expect class cards of whatever class you're facing, they generally use them as they are more OP than most neutral
This was recorded ABSOLUTELY FLAWLESSLY. Flawlessly.
Kappa
Take 3
You're an amazing teacher
thank you for this tutorial i went undefeated with shaman
Trump I am looking forward immensely to the inevitable GvG review.
Plz hurry :D
I'm stuck on rank 19. These tips are helping! Thanks!
thanks man , verry usefull tutorials for a noob like me who plays since several days but really likes the game !
He lost the game when he messed up everything with argus and flametonge totem
Made me cringe.
even worse, the 0/2 taunt totem was buffer and he dropped an egg in its place losing out on an extra 2 dmg
06:42 ...Trump makes some questionable observations about trades his opponent "should" have done.
His opponent did make good trades against what was on the board and likely couldn't afford to play around Stormwind champ.
Though the opponent did make some mistakes in earlier plays.
flametounge totem is still something he didn't play around so it was questionable, regardless of the stormwind champion
shinoobidan No, the opponent made the best play he could do with that card. If he used rockbiter on alakir (as trump says) and killed the fire ally and the ooze, Trump would have the same board, instead of having a 6/2 Fire ally he would have a 6/2 Frostwolf. I've subscribed to your channel... mr. President
I Saw that episode live on the stream HYPE
i love these old tutorials mostly because even though he's playing against people with stronger cards, because he's playing more favorable he wins with basic
Why'd he skip out bloodlust? It's probably one of the best ways to trade in the game when you have the board for it.
works lower than rank 15, any higher on the ladder, there's little chance of using bloodlust efficiently, consistently
Alex Munro
But, don't people run Savage Roar in Druid? Isn't it the same?
Varun Ponnusamy yea but you get the combo with Force of nature and Druid of the claw
Varun Ponnusamy Savage roar I have found to be mostly only good with the force+savage combo as a bunch of burst. With shaman you have no card that does anything like force of nature so bloodlust in shaman is not comparable to savage in druid
Varun Ponnusamy No because Savage Roar combos with Force of Nature.
At 7:30 you forgot about the Frostwolf he wasted the divine shield on, his play was great unless u had a +1 attack boost which u had :)
take a drink every time he says the word favorable
Do you want to die!?
Very informative!
At 5:30ish I would have hero powered and frost wolfd instead of playing the ooze, planning on using my 7 drop on turn 7 to take out the loothoarder if necessary. Is this incorrect thinking? Is the idea to make them trade instead of hit your face or always assume they will trade?
Can you update the video, it is hard to catch some of the things you are saying. Thank u. Great tutorial.
From Crisp to cancer, your favorite friendly neighborhood shaman.
very good explanation.

Just started playing hearthstone and this is helping alot !
Any advice on buying packs ? I will also get naxxramas and blackrock
Learning a lot from these, just wish your arena help videos taught me more lol, struggling to even win one game most times, its sad.
8:25 Wouldn't using the silence on the stormwind champion be much better?
yea lol
I guess his logic was he could remove 3/2 stats rather than just debuffing 2/2 stats? This is only rank 19, we can't expect perfect thinking.
Tall Knuckle he has some decent cards for rank 19 though, not to mention a heroic naxxramas card back. he obviously puts time into this and to make mistakes like that is frankly unexpected
TheEleventhGlitch He's still at rank 19, though. Time doesn't always equal skill.
The Creator true but he could've made it much farther in a previous season it's not like he's stuck on rank 19
Trump would you show this build against the paladin expert ai. I had problems with that one with my shaman so I tried your build and I won. However I tried again to see if it was a fluke and I lost the next 4.
I found fire elemental+youthful brewmaster really good
Probably the only Trump that is good for the world
+wu-k hyon So true.
+wu-k hyon yup prolly. you know.... the other ones a buissness man who wants money to build a wall that wont help anyone....... idiot
The only Trump U that isn't ripping people off.
Well Donald Trump will save the world when he is elected so actually there are two.
Random Ashe Tow trump should meet together cuz boy does donald like china
This deck is great with a couple changes, my most succesful ladder besides your basic rogue.
How come when you win your rank goes down?
Lower rank is better. You start at rank 25 and as you win, you get stars that will take you to a better rank, ultimately going for rank 1, and then legend rank.
jedimaster1138 Oh, okay! Thanks!

Trump Reassess what you said about al akir trading :) What he did was correct, your way would still leave a 6-2 frostwolf overload on your side + the egg not activated. =]
I have the ability to make the deck shown, but I'm still not confident that i'll use it correctly.

+recino2 Blizzard probably changed the default "basic shaman" deck since this video was created. In any case, yes, all the cards he shows at the start are ones you start with. (And the ones he adds in are ones you get for leveling up.)

December 8th!
brandonglee123 lol I just saw that on the launcher... Wasn't able to connect for a long time even after it went up.. Thanks :)
I feel like this was Trumps best areas
this people got own by trump using mostly basic cards. if they watch this video, they be like so embarrassed. plus, trump is also teaching us about the opponent should do a different trading.
Halfway through my education.
What does the card counter on the left mean?
Card advantage ( how many more cards, if any, either player has in their hand )
Does anyone know why trump doesn't include his golden cards when he has them?
Bruno Madeira Oh ok thanks
Hex and rockbitter have both gone up in manna any change in game play
These videos are designed as general guides. While the exact decks aren't quite the same in the new metas, their main cards are basic ones and class basics, so not much should change. man where do you have so much dust from?
at 4:00 I would've left the wolves alone and accepted a 3 for 1 trade by my opponent instead of wasting my rockbiter on half of a card and played the ooze instead which would have taken out the flametongue totem on the following turn
Why no golden?
im on rank 13
and I dont have doom hammer or the legend what can i do?
add 2 eggs or add 2 dark iron dwarves they help you trade up and keep board control
1 Doomhammer makes a different. I craft him and get from rank 12 to 9 on one day.

I had a feeling, alright, thanks for clearing that up for me :p
Well that's a bit silly. They outta be unique.
partingofways Why? That brings in a bunch of other problems, like notable people getting their usernames snatched immediately.
why no bloodlust?
why murloc tidehunter?
It's an all Basic deck and they trade well when with Flametongue or Stormwind Champion.
Travorable Fading?
Tuck Frump.
7:48 No consideration of the frostwolf grunt, lol...
i miss old emotes
Missed lethal at the end trump -_-
Why don't the cards have the rarity gems in the center? o.o
Most of the cards he's playing, if not all, are from the "basic" set, meaning people get them from levelling up. These cards don't have gems in the middle, as they're not "rare" or "common" in a booster pack sense.
As for why Naxx cards have gems in them, you got me there.
***** it makes sense for the legendaries to limit the copies of the card that can be run in a deck but not for the rest.
Gralof Gaming
Well, since you can craft golden Naxx cards the rarer cards are more expensive to make with dust. But that's all I can think of, no big difference there...

Why doesn't he use gold cards what's not to like.
He said he'd use gold cards when he has enough to make a full deck of them. I imagine the only reason his golden Cabal Shadow Priest is an exception is because the art for it looks amazing.
FiftyFootMidget He's stated he would DE his golden one for a normal one if it wasn't a huge loss of value.
FiftyFootMidget Nah, It's because he only has one normal Cabal and one golden one.
He won't DE a gold card, it's loss of value. He wouldn't craft a gold, it's also a loss of value. And he won't play a deck till it has all gold, including the hero to make all the cards the same. I imagine after he's got all the gold cards he will make a full gold deck.
Trump is a grower not a shower.
I tried to click on the gong :(
idc if he plays in tsm, at 8:07 he should've played totemic call instead of the murloc, he couldve gotten a taunt, so his 7/3 didnt die, or if he didnt get a taunt, he still couldve killed his 7/3 and played the murloc next turn

i love trump but i dont think those lessons would help me much if i didnt already know the game. not enough explanation for why not to do some things.
Overall still good lesson videos.
lol trump talks of his own taz dingo as if it doesn't have taunt. silly trump. 5:00
Silly Trump also makes a mistake at 7:35. If the enemy made the trades that Trump said were better, then Trump would still have a Frostwolf Warlord and a Searing Totem on his board, instead of just a Searing Totem. Silly, silly, Trump.
Lady Palutena well can't blame him. trying to remember a past board state is hard (without the power of youtube). his fault for trying though
Lady Palutena I wasn't aware the Goddess of Light played a game unrelating to her own franchise.
i just came to the realization that ive been playing since last october.... holy shit its been over a year lol....
The elephants will destroy you!
***** For Shaman pls
This video is for those with no logic... i knew this when i started HS, but a lot didn't, seen them run their 3 2s into my harvest golems D:...
Ah, simpler times
Seems a shame to the level 19 player you knock the shit out of.
Everyones worst nightmare. A top quality player, under a veil of low level. This is why it is so hard to level up!
Going 100 words/minute in this one. @.@
+koitheawesome English is mostly spoken very slow for some reason. I like it when people talk fast though because it gets more information across. I sometimes turn the speed of a video up to get it over with faster. :D
please please put more effort into these teaching videos. take your time to analyze a play (for example, by pausing the gameplay footage and doing a voice over)!
the opponent's turn 8 was horrible, everything was played in the wrong order and/or in the wrong position, the defender was hurting him more than helping him (the gnome dealt 1 less damage than before, his flametongue got taunt instead of the egg or an possible non taunt hero ability totem). but the only thing trump said about this turn was "i like flametongue totems" quite disappointed
ps: yeah yeah I know you are not allowed to criticize anything on youtube, may google have mercy with my soul
Win win!
