The MC for me. Was at World Dance near Canary Wharf once, dancing early, heard MC MC come onto the mic and felt a hand on my shoulder, turned round and there he was MCing and dancing among us, we smiled at each other, shook hands and carried on. Legend.
One of the only MC’s that just the raw tone of his voice and the way he projected it used to bring the rushes on intense.....and still do now when I listen back. Unique!! His voice is a f**king powerful instrument, like a second lead part over the track.
Maximum respect MC MC!! You and Hyper D definitely interacted we the ravers in the best way. You brought the balance of everything. Spent my best times and years raving to you with all the legends on the decks. Still listen to tapes of you on Eruption FM with DJ Rap from 1993.
Awesome interview. Many thanks for the content. Grew up listening to MCMC on cassettes on the bus. He's alw Ays been an illusive figure to me due to his exit and I didn't get to see him that many times as started raving later than his prime time, but his voice still gives me goosebumps. Best hype man for me. Legend.
Both parts of this interview are great. Loved McMc as an artist, so pleased he’s an absolutely top bloke as well! Clearly a very smart cookie who’s taken risks, followed his dreams and had an exciting life as his reward. Love his positive attitude. Great work on these interviews! This was my favourite so far.
From the very first day i ever heard McMc in the start of the 90’s i was hooked on his style, his voice, his rymes, true legend and will stay in my eyes one of the best, and I’m so glad i got to witness him live at many events in the early 90’s,memories that will last a lifetime.🎤❤️😊🎶🎶
I'd love 2 see an in depth interview with DJ Clarkee......he dropped so many classic sets at so many of the different raves I went 2!! 1 of my all time favourite DJ's & he's still going strong after all these years!! 🤘🏻🤪🤘🏻
MCMC one of the best to do it never over did it perfect , i went from 89-95 around london and essex area's and there was a massive transition in the music , for me the best year was 92 for atmosphere and music commin on strong EP ellis dee :) im not saying it went down after that the music actually elevated but the atmosphere was definitly different .
This Podcast Was such a beautiful trip down memory lane, I have beautiful memories of Helter Skelter because Helter Skelter The Tenth Of August 1996 was my first rave at 19, Many people have asked Dave And Penny on Facebook to bring back Helter Skelter but it wouldn't be the same, They should have a tent at a music festival, After listening to this podcast I played a song called remember the roller classic
How can you sum up helter-skelter as a tent in a festival... Just like football... You don't expect things to be like it was 20 years ago lol... A helter-skelter festival once every few years would be epic
I still have a old cassette tape .Helter-skelter 98 .Kenny ken and Mc Mc I still put it on occasionally it reminds me of times when I was 16 messing about with my m8s great times great memories .Thanks for the great memories Mc Mc all the best .
Remember him well, one of the stalwarts of the scene on stage, had a taste for white tracksuits if I remember correctly, and that was the thing: in 1992 there was this big family of thousands who’d convene in big tents or warehouses in a different spot every Friday nite, you’d see familiar faces in the crowd wherever you went, and the MC’s & dancers were as much a part of that as anyone. Good memories & nice to see one of the original faces :)
My favourite tape ever was United dance and temptation 1994 Sy on one side slipmatt on the other MC MC with them both. The first Happy hardcore set I ever heard was when my mates older brother put a tape in front of us and said "this is like nothing you've ever heard" it was 1992 I was 12, the tape was Ellis Dee Fantasia big bang ...
smart guy; likeable guy, tonnes of fun...and a true legend of our Scene. Sorely missed component of the post-Nineties movement. A great interview, insightful and surprising. Nothing but respect & appreciation for Maurice aka the one & only MC MC. Absolutely brilliant! :)
Interesting discussion about the LA rave scene. Hats off to MC MC for giving the small fish a go. Makes me respect him even more from building on the scene out there.
This is just pure class. I've thought about mcmc over the years. I looked him up and found little bits about the grapevine stuff. I last saw him in 2003 myself then I faded out if scene a bit due to age. From Hastings we went to a lit of raves, I was dnb but I used to ho down also to the Tazmania events on hastings pier- they always fielded 1 or dnb DJs on the lineup or mcmc usually always covered and doing his bit with the hardcore which was cool. I didnt realise he was nearing 40 when he left the scene in UK. Hes older the I thought by a bit- always looked young, so in those late 90's raves he was well over 30- never would have thought. I thought he'd be 46/47. I say that as a compliment...I still love playing those great Helter sets. Nice one MC , kicking up a storm as always
What he saying about running up and down the stage is how I remember him’ absolutely smashed it at global gathering 2003 witch was my first rave and seeing Mcmc smashing shit out the place was a special moment.. He smashed it more than my favourite mcs that night !
"DJ RAP and THE MCMCEEEAH!!!" Love you man, and max respect for bigging up Vibealite & Venue 44 in Mansfield. True, at one time you seemed to be resident upon here every other week when it was blowing up. Slipmatts birthday was fucking wicked Rave btw, you smashed it as usual, phenomenal night. Man, this whole interview was fantastic from start to finish. I've seen MCMC live countless times but I was honestly intrigued to see how he came across being interviewed, the answer is great! No arrogance whosoever, what a top guy. Fingers crossed to see him on stage with a mic again some time soon. 🎤🤞

My question would be, who did you consider the best Dj you worked with and listened to I.e. the best at mixing and track selections to mix together I personally think it was either Randall or Mickey Finn that were the best What's your view Maurice ? Thanks 👊
