Low pass, T&Gs with a new camera angle

  • Found a good flying day in a long, cold winter to play with a new camera angle. This is my usual 'got an hour' kind of flight, with three landings and a low pass, along with a look at how I put the airplane away these days. I used to arm-strong it in, guess I'm getting lazy.

    Awesome video.
I do pray that you are in good health.
Thanks for the insight of explanation between low and high run up check.
More so the input on cylinder combustion and some hints for a malfunctioning cylinder.
    Good point

I just found your channel. Enjoyed the pattern work. You let me ride along to Oshkosh and to a Kansas City airplane salvage yard many years. Say hello to D for me. Roger P from Queen Creek, AZ

I just figured out who Roger P is... nice to hear from you! D says hello. Hope you are doing well in Az. I'll bet you see light aircraft all day coming and going from Gateway. I have been out that way a few times... getting addicted to the donuts at Bobby-Q's.

@@cardinalflyer Yes, we see aircraft attached to the U of N. Dakota which has an operation here, Allegiant, and military on weekends. Not familiar with Bobby-Q's.

Hello Cardinal, I stumbled onto and subscribed to your channel here and I like the way you "take us along" on your flights. I must say, of the many flyers who have similar channels, IMHO yours is one of the very best. Video and audio are excellent and I have learned much valuable info about the Cardinal, a plane I have been interested in. I have a question ( or 2 ): What year is your aircraft? Did you totally re-do the instrumentation? Is your plane IFR certified? Do you ever fly at altitudes requiring O2? How long have you been flying in general? Great content. Thanks.

Hello Richard. Perhaps that's a video I should do! But for now, it is a 1976, the panel is all new and certainly well beyond basic IFR. I do carry O2 at times and have used it many times in my 35 years of flying. Thanks for your questions!

Cool, Keith. I'm doing a bit of ferrying, so maybe our paths will cross. I've ferried a couple of 177s already, not including my own.
    Cheers.

So you recommend doing the mag check at 1400 rpm but still use the 1800 rpm for prop check etc?

    • @cardinalflyer

I do the prop check also at the lower RPM. It still affects RPM in the same way, I really don't see any reason to have the RPM higher. I would not call it a recommendation, though, only what I do.

Your best bet is to visit the Cardinal Flyers type club page at cardinalflyers.com At some point you'll find it helpful to spell my name right, as that other spelling won't find me... ;-)

What headset do you use Keith?

    • @cardinalflyer
      @cardinalflyer  5 років тому

I have Lightspeed headsets: a PFX and three Zulus. I think the PFX may be discontinued now, replaced by the Zulu 3. It is a two stage noise reduction that works really well. Before I got used to it, when the second stage kicked in I'd think the engine had died and reach down to add mixture.

Even with monetization turned off, UA-cam could take down your audio track and your video would just be silent. They call it a “content ID match”. It’s not that someone else would get paid, it’s that your not paying the artist to use their track. With other noises, like the intercom, UA-cam software might not be able to match the content, so you might be able to keep the music in.

Thanks. The system tells me it won't play in Canada. I have done the automatic removal in the past and it actually worked pretty well. I'll have to see if I can find that tool in the new studio... but always wished I could share what flying in my cabin is like in real time.
