I cannot believe that I have only just found this and had it in surroind sound repeat 7 times so far. The sheer talent of every individual in this performance is awe inspiring. Beethoven himself would have stood to applaud.

In all fairness he wasn't completely deaf, he heard most of the music he wrote in his life He gradually lost hearing over the years due to lead poisoning, which wasn't something people knew about in the early 1800s. In his defense though, by the time he wrote his 9th symphony, his hearing was pretty much gone, and he'd only never get to hear his 10th, which he didn't get to finish before he passed
