I love the silky saw, definitely use that when you get it, they’re so lightweight and easy to carry and most importantly it saws through extremely well. I apologize if you said you had one and I missed it, but if not, carry a lighter also. When your hands are cold, it’s easier than playing around with a ferro rod and striker. Maybe not as cool, but if you do happen to venture further away from areas with a population, and find yourself in a situation where an overnight is necessary, you’ll be glad you have it. Put it on that paracord with all the other items and wear it on your neck to keep it from getting cold.
You have a great kit, think about getting the biodegradable wipes at an REI or outdoorsmen shop near you. We love being in nature so it’s important we preserve it.
Enjoy the journey and stay safe.

Right on man. I really like a good haversack for sure but I always end up overpacking it and making it too heavy to be comfortable. I did manage to get a fanny pack down to a comfortable level so I just need to transition that to the haversack and I should be good. I'm interested in starting winter camping but have not tried it before so it would be interesting to see how you go about it Bill. Thanks for sharing!

Love the minimal tools survival video idea
I need to actually go out and test my stuff and more importantly my skills but for my situation I have a feel rod and lighter on my keychain, pocket knife, and a water bottle I always carry. Where I live it rarely gets cold and when it does it’s never freezing so fire isn’t high on my survival needs but water definetly, I haven’t practiced survival skills but I guess I could call this one as it gives me a huge advantage from what I hear. I’m used it drinking water from all around me in diff springs so I don’t get sick from water that hasn’t been purified. Though springs are rare here and I never tired drinking standing lake water. I think my only concern in a survival situation is getting water. I guess I could carry my sawyer, but if just going with what I have , I might be able to get by drinking sketchy water and or I could get fire going if need be to boil water. Food I don’t think is necessary cause if I walk less than two days slowly in any direction I’ll hit a city, I have more than enoguh survival weight for that lol
Feel free to add anything like I said I don’t have experience yet but from my common sense I only see finding water as a concern (though I’ve gone three days without before albeit in AC not trekking)

Thanks for the input. Around here water isn’t an issue we have streams, creeks and springs everywhere so finding water usually won’t be an issue. On the other hand it gets real cold in the winter and fire moves to the top of that survival priorities checklist.
If you do decide to go test your gear, I’d love to hear about it. Thanks for watching!

Contact Princeton Tec about the broken battery latch and they’ll send you out a replacement cover to fix your headlamp.

Thanks lol, I had actually never thought of it. I sent them a warranty message today. I don’t know if they’ll warranty it since I’ve had it since 2010 or so and that video was shot in 14’. I’ll update when I hear back.

IMO, add cash, some pain pills, duct tape, and something to stop or at least control bleeding.

Thanks for the input, I added a small roll of ductape and a tourniquet long ago. I’ll be posting the updated kit here in the next week or so.
