My abuela would reheat leftover rice, top with a fried egg...and we would add ketchup and plantain chips (mariquitas) on topic. Sounds weird but it's still my favorite comfort food! Thanks for sharing!

Oh my gosh I love rice!! Super frugal and so yummy! In my “frugalness” ( is that a word?) I just bought a 20 pound bag of Carolina gold rice for 6.99. Love your videos so much but you already knew that LOL💕

My mom used to use white rice as a breakfast staple.
Add milk to rice and warm in microwave.
    Add sugar to taste....devine!!!

My husband and I make a big pot of soup every week in the winter months. We use many different kinds of veggies with stock and usually chicken or turkey. I love to place a big scoop of leftover rice in the bowl before adding my soup. If we added the rice to the soup, it would get "gummy" and loose it's shape. Although I have to admit I use a lot of cauliflower rice now! Keto?

These are great recipes! When you say "tasteless oil" what are some suggestions for this kind of oil? What oils do you keep in the pantry? When would you use them? Is there a trick to get cheap sesame oil, or is that an oil to splurge on?

Great recipes! Did you try a cast iron wok? That has no problem heating quickly and fully on our electric stove. We got the wok on amazon and a lid at our local Chinese grocery store. Oddly, amazon doesn’t carry the lid and the Chinese grocery doesn’t carry the wok (yet has tons of lids!). We store it right on our stove top, it is quite beautiful to look at

Each of your recipes look sooo very tasty, and know my family would enjoy, myself too! Thank you for this and all your videos. When there is a bit of left over rice, it makes a good filling breakfast, by reheating it, adding either honey or sugar, a dollop of butter, and some milk. On a cold winter day, you just can't beat it! Gretchen B. :)

Thank you for some great ideas on how to use leftover rice. We love fried rice and I make a batch about every couple of weeks. I heat a portion of leftovers for breakfast and scramble in an egg or two and add some sesame seeds and slivered almonds for crunch. Now I’m hungry 😉

Leftover plain rice almost always becomes chazuke in my house. I'll have to give congee a try! Rice recipes with more flavor, like black beans and rice, usually end up in a breakfast burrito with eggs.

I love making stove top rice pudding with leftover rice, white or brown using non dairy milk like flax milk, raisins, 1 egg, cinnamon and a dash of cloves, sweetened with raw sugar or maple syrup. I re cook the sweetened rice in the milk with raisins to boiling, then add it to the beaten egg and rest of ingredients. Enjoy hot or cold.

Searched for this kinda video because, as I type this, my Dutch oven about 1/3rd full of chicken & rice is sitting on the stovetop right now as the oven is cooling...& I'm about full already. Gotta do something with all that rice. Thank you for the ideas... Am not about to buy a mini slow cooker, though. I have a full-sized one already--that with the Dutch oven & a wok takes up enough room!

I soak 1 cup of lentils for 8 hours and add 2 cups of washed basmati rice. Cook in the rice cooker. I chop half an onion and brown in a skillet add frozen mixed veggies and cook until thawed. Add mild curry powder to taste and cook together for a few minutes. Add the rice and lentils. Cook together until warm. Add more water if you want it like a congee. Add garlic and ginger if you like more spices. It’s great for potluck meals.

Cooked and cooled rice (refrigerated overnight) forms resistant starch which is very important for gut health. Potatoes and beans as well. So really it's better to eat the leftovers than to have them freshly cooked the first time.

I made the rice patties but I didn't have traditional cheese so I mixed in some cottage cheese and it's very tasty but boy did it ramp up the oil. If anyone tries it be aware of that. I served it with an egg on the side and I plan to put my big patty in a sandwich for dinner

@Mawmaw Sue in south Louisiana, poor as poor can be, we had grits and eggs for breakfast, pawpaw got commodoties so plenty of grits and rice, then for lunch we had rice and egg, then dinner rolled around and we had egg and rice. Now don't complain you just had that for lunch 'cause momo was quick to let it be known "We had rice and egg for lunch, we havin' egg and rice for dinner, shut up and be thankful you ain't going to bed hungry" Also only ate meat when a hen stopped laying or when turkey necks went on sale after the holidays. Big pot of turkey necks and potatoes mmm

I always freeze rice in one cup portions. I can then fix myself a dish for breakfast. Today I added leftover peas and corn, some sautéed onion, soy sauce and sesame seeds. I try to stay away from oils, so water or broth is necessary for for reheating or sauté. I like the idea of the congee.
