Gosh...a blast from the past ❣️ I miss her and this channel so very much... I learned so much going back and watching all of them I sure wish it would come back 🙏 It's needed more now !
I have recently found your channel and am very much enjoying them. Mostly because your content is very specific and you get to it right away. You do a great job and the information is so helpful. My pet peeve is the people that like to introduce every episode for 5 minutes just because they like to hear themselves talk. So annoying! Keep it up and more videos please!!
This means so much to me, Kelly!! I try to put out videos that I’d like to watch myself and it’s also a pet peeve of mine. So I try to put any of my requests to the end or use small visuals that don’t have a huge impact on the message for what I’d like from viewers. I’ll be working hard to keep it this way. Thank you for your very kind and encouraging words and for watching. I hope you’re having a great weekend!
Please excuse me as I left out how long to soak the pasta! I soak it for 60 minutes in cold tap water! Then it’s ready to be drained very well and cooked immediately or you can store in the fridge for up to 3 days. Happy cooking! 😃
I cook and hot pack jar pasta for quarts of ready to use pasta, OR when I make my manicotta, lasagna etc. I never preboil the noodles - I put the raw pasta in with the sauce then about 1 C of water around the edges, cover and bake @ 400 for half hour, then uncover and bake 20 more minutes, comes out all soft, cooked, ready and yummy!
I love using my crockpot, it's the best time saver! I've never thought to cook potatoes in it! I try to clean as I go too and keep my countertops as clear as possible because it is a work space. I like the soaking pasta idea! You always come up with the coolest, creative tips like these kitchen tips. I always learn new things from your videos! Thanks for another great one, Wendy!
Potatoes in the slow cooker come out darker than a traditional steamed one but I think they’re so great. And out of the fridge cold is great too. I just eat it like a normal person would eat an apple 😅. I’m glad you liked the pasta one it’s handy to have a soaked batch in the fridge for faster meals. Thank you for your very kind words and all your support!! I hope you’re having a great weekend, Alicia! 😃
This is so much more than saving time or money. It's a way of respecting your ingredients and gratitude for what you have. Thank you for raising consciousness.
Thank you so much for noticing the work in the editing! It is a lot of work but I find it to be fun and am enjoying learning new things. Thank you again for your very kind, encouraging words and for watching. I hope you're having a great week!
I'm happy to hear you enjoy the tips, Flynn 😃 Thank you for your very kind, encouraging words and for watching my channel!! I hope you're having a great week!
Once again, wonderful ideas ! I will definitely be using the pasta soak idea. That’s the one food that drives me batty waiting for it to cook. Thank you for sharing. I loved the video ❤️
I’m glad you liked that idea, Kimmarie! It drove me batty too especially because I would try to be lazy and use a smaller pot for spaghetti and not all of it would fit so I’d have to stand over a hot pot and push it down until it would all go in 😅. I hope it works as well for you as it does for us! Thank you for your very kind words and for watching! I hope you’re having a great weekend!
Another energy saving tip is that I boil my kettle first and add the boiled water to the saucepan to cook rice, pasta etc. Takes a fraction of the time than starting with tap water.
That is so clever to boil once and use many times, Robyn! I really love it. Thank you for your great tip and for watching. I hope you’re having a great weekend!
These are brilliant tips! I went to culinary school and didn't learn some of these, although of course, they do teach us mis en place (everything in its place) and clean as you go. I have a crockpot but never thought to use it for potatoes or sausage.
I have already started going through our home to get rid of things that we do not need. Your videos let me know I still have more to get rid of. Thank you so much for your videos very inspiring and extremely helpful.
I'm so happy to hear that you can get some value from my videos! Thank you for your very kind, encouraging words and for watching. I wish you success in your journey!!
You are my spirit animal! New favourite youtuber. Some hacks I learned is having a "air-fryer" that has a stirring arm, that way i can make a stir fry veggies/meat without being in the kitchen. And a machine cutter safes also a lot of time cutting big batches of vegetables, it is worth the investment. Also precooking water in your water kettle saves time and if you don't have a slow-cooker in a rice cooker you can also cook a lot more than just rice!
Thank you so much that is such high praise! I am honored 🙏. Wow I didn't even know air fryers have stirring arms, that is incredible! I googled it just now 😂 Precooking water is great and I do that in my pot too! Ahh, the rice cooker cooking takes me back to college. You're right it can cook so much more than rice! Thank you for your very kind, encouraging words and great tip filled comment! I hope you're having a great weekend!! 😃
You are officially my favourite UA-cam channel!! I love listening to you and learning how you do things in your kitchen. I really liked the tip of doing sitting stretches while timing the water. You rock!! Love from NL, Canada. 🙂
Thank you, Lynne for your very kind and encouraging words! I'm quite new to YT and it's quite an honor to hear such high praise. Wow! 🙏 Thank you so much for the encouraging comment and for watching! I hope you're having a great weekend 😃
My mom (about 25 yrs ago) taught me how to cook pasta in the microwave. Place pasta in heatproof dish. Add water to cover by about at least an inch or two. Cover tightly with plastic wrap. Nuke on high about ten mins for spaghetti, 12-14 mins for shaped pasta (penne, ziti, etc). Make sure you use mitts to remove to drain. My partner was skeptical…until he tried it. No more waiting for water to boil BEFORE you start cooking the pasta.
I always make extra potatoes for this same reason. And if I am baking something in the oven anyway I throw some potatoes in to get more bang for my buck. Can't wait to try the pasta idea. Thanks!
Gotta take advantage of all that oven space..I do this too! 😂 I hope the pasta trick works as well for you as it does for us! The video didn't say, but I soaked it for 60 minutes. Thank you for watching and I hope you're having a great week!
Love the tip of using the scale for measuring!! I have been doing this lately, thanks to you! Hooray for less clean up. I have now converted many of our favourite recipes (pizza dough, no bake granola bars, oatmeal cookies etc.) to weights instead of the volumes. Thank you and take care! :)
Thanks for this post. We just bought that same pasta on a trip and now I will be able to cook this quicker. I'll have to try the meat trick too. My kids love noodles and this will save me so much time.
One thing i do to save time is to batch cook potatoes in the microwave, then refrigerate or freeze to use as needed. Sweet potatoes to use in potato pancakes. Thanks for the tip to pre-soak pasta, never thought to do this. It will save time on a weekday dinner.
We eat a lot of barley and quinoa in our family. So to make it easy, I cook up a large pot of barley or quinoa. Then when it cools, I usually take a 1/3 measuring cup and scoop. I run the edge of the measuring cup along the edge of the pot to level it off. Then I take a regular muffin pan, and drop my barley or quinoa into the holes. I then pop the tray into the freezer. After they are frozen, I take the tray out of the freezer and let them rest on my kitchen countertop for a few minutes. This makes them easier to pop out of the tray. I call these my barley and quinoa pucks. Since we eat bread, I save my cleaned out bread bags and put my pucks in them. You can double up the bread bags to make to make them stronger. So when I’m making a soup or even pasta sauce and other things I pop a puck or two into it. You can also defrost them in the microwave them if you need them quicker. What I like about these grains is that they help thicken your soups etc. And since we try to go meatless sometimes, I like to put a quinoa puck in my spaghetti sauce to thicken it and also it’s a great source of protein without using hamburger. I get large bags of tricolour quinoa at Costco for a great price. The darker quinoa in my opinion looks somewhat like hamburger bits in the sauce. Hope you like this idea as it saves time in the kitchen. Jeanne
You are so great a this videos. I appreciate that your videos are very informative and to the point. I have been watching your videos and notice that they are unique and not a repeat of other youtubers. Muchas Gracias!!!!!
I’ve often been different in my life and I’m glad this different is a good thing 😂 Thank you for your very kind words and for watching! I hope you’re having a great weekend!
You did it again Wendy! Love the pasta trick, really useful especially when you have hungry little mouths to feed 😋 Huge fan of cleaning up while cooking. It really save so much time plus keeps the kitchen tidy 👍 Have a beautiful weekend ❤️😊
I hope that one works as well for you as it does for us! It’s convenient to have the already soaked pasta in the fridge for hungry mouths! Thank you so much for your very kind words and support. I hope you’re having a beautiful weekend too!
I'm so happy to hear you could apply the potato one to your routine, Amy! Potatoes are a very underrated food. I don't know if you eat the little taro, but it works well for those and works ok for sweet potatoes. Something about the orange sweet potatoes that make them come out soggy, but the result is good for pie filling. We love potatoes here 😂 Thank you for watching and I hope you have a great week!
Thank you! I am relatively new to your channel ... thank you so much for these tips! I have never heard of steaming your potatoes in the Crock-Pot but now I'm going to do it! Thank you so so much you have no idea! You are Wonder Woman! All great wonderful ideas! I will try them all!
Hi Meloni! It’s nice to meet you! I’m relatively new to UA-cam 😅. I’m so happy to be able to offer some new ideas to you and I hope they work as well for you as they do for us! Thank you for your very kind words and for watching. I hope you’re having a great weekend! 😃
"Without being reckless..." LOL! You are so wonderfully descriptive in these videos. While I'd say I'm good in the kitchen, I have yet to convert to being a baker by weight (I know it's the right thing to do from an accuracy standpoint as well as streamlining cleanup - but old habits are so hard to break). It was so nice to see you do this as an example. Loved this video! Was your kitchen scale a very big investment? Buying another item is also a bit of a hangup for me. p.s I love passive cooking...a pot of stock or a pot of beans...last night I seasoned and wrapped up a brisket in the fridge (already in it's casserole dish) and at breakfast time today I put it in the oven. Then I ran three errands with the children. It was ready and waiting for me at dinner tonight with a pot of steamed rice in the rice cooker -- one button. Nothing beats an almost effortless meal. Great tips!
Hi Melissa! I know what you mean about the metrics. We’ve had this scale for about 14 years now. We bought it from target or Walmart new for around 15 dollars. It was used mostly for my husband to weigh his food as part of a diet plan and it was only in the past few years that I actively started using it for baking. It’s been a game changer for me! New ones are probably more accurate than ours. It only measures to the whole gram. But it also measures in ounces and it almost always will save me from washing extra dishes. 🙌 Wow I love the idea of baking while out but I must admit it scares me a little. Does your oven have a timer feature? I’m so glad you find passive cooking ways to provide awesome home cooked meals for your family too! Home must have smelled great after running those errands. You leave the best comments thank you so much for all your kind words and support! I hope you have a great week ahead!!
The Frugal Minimalist aw! Thank YOU! I agree that it feels great to start using something you already own. Good for you for using this scale. As for the cooking while out, maybe I’m a bit fearless, but also my husband is working from home and is always happy to turn the oven off for me at a designated time (especially when there’s a prime brisket in there!!!). Also, brisket cooked at 300 degrees usually can go longer than I can do errands with a 2 and 5 year old, LOL! Just warming up more leftovers now...so happy to have em. I love learning from you. As I’m sure you know, there’s a lot to learn from others. Your videos are beautiful and instructive (as well as funny). Thank you for the hard work you put in. I know it’s not easy. School starts again tomorrow. Be happy for me! It’s a huge relief after 2 weeks off! A big hug! M
That’s a great suggestion Jeanette! I’ll definitely add that to my list I have so many ideas and not as much time as I’d like to execute. Thank you for your kind words! They mean very much to me. I hope you’re having a great weekend!
I love my Instant Pot! I cook a head and hot pack jar everything. I pull out things to heat upand serve for lunch or dinner. Get an "I" Pot (it takes the place of 4 kitchen appliance food making gadgets. You will love it!!!
Thank you, Rachel for your very kind and encouraging words and for watching. I’m so happy to be able to offer a different perspective! I hope you’re having a great weekend!
I always soak my Lasagna pasta and never need to parboil it, I just put it together after a soak in hot water about 10min... It works like that store brand you don't boil first!
I'm so glad I found your videos! I just subscribed because your ideas are so helpful. I watched a video where you did passive cooking with potatoes and now instead of throwing out a half bag of wrinkled potatoes in my cupboard, I threw them into my crockpot to cook and add to meals later... win win👍 thank you!
I'm so glad to be found, Lynn 😂 and I'm so happy to hear you could save those potatoes! A win win indeed 🙌. Thank you so much for your very kind words, for watching and for your support! They mean very much to me. I hope you're having a great week!
We do too! It's a pretty old one and I'm sure they have better models out there. But we're using it until it breaks 😅. Thank you for watching and I hope you're having a great weekend! 😃
My electricity rates are higher after 5pm, so I pre cook dinner etc before 5pm and reheat when we want to eat. I also cook once and eat twice method. Steak one night, then cut up steak next night on a bun or in a wrap with a salad. I pre peel potatoes and keep in the fridge, then when I need some for dinners they are done already. ( I listen to you while peeling ) I am going to try the pasta method, I am also going to try pre soaking rice the night before.
Yes I have a chart that my electric company sent to me so I know when the discount, normal and peak rates are. I try and only do extra baking and clothes drying during discount time slots. We are in south texas so it is humid and hot and requires alot of energy to run the central ac unit. I could manage without the ac but the rest of my family does not agree with me.
Aah those peak usage hours 😰. I’m happy to hear you found your way to work around them, Dawn! Cook once eat twice I’ve not heard it called that. I love the name. I’ll bet that saves you time as well 👏. I’m honored to be listened to while peeling potatoes! It’s gotta be my favorite food 😂. I hope the pasta method works as well for you as it does for us! I’ve heard of soaking rice and how it helps with faster cooking times but I don’t have much experience with it. I’d love to hear how it works for you! Thank you for your great comment for watching! I hope you’re having a great weekend!
@Texas Jones - Those peak hours 😰 They can be such a pain to work around but it sounds like you got it down! We aren’t on that plan yet but I’ve been practicing because I know it’s coming 😅. Gotta be prepared. You sound like you have a very high tolerance for heat! I’m like you - more tolerance for heat than family 😅. Thank you for watching and I hope you’re having a great weekend!
So true! My family uses slow cookers to meal prep a whole weeks worth of meals at a time. We use a scale for more accurate nutrition tracking, but you are right it can reduce the number of dishes needed also. Thank you for sharing this wonderful information Wendy! Your kitchen is so neat. I loved your watching a pot boil comment, 😂 funny and true. Full watch, big like! 😊👍
Hi Vara! The slow cooker and scale can be so useful in the kitchen. You're right the scale is great for nutrition too! Thank you for all your kind words and support..they mean very much to me! I hope you're having a great week 😃
Love these!! Cleaning as I go has literally changed my life! It makes it soooo much easier to not have a ton of dishes at the end that I'm dreading. I love all these ideas!
Haha, those dishes do pile up quick without the cleaning as you go. Thank you, Mary for your kind words and support! I hope you're having a great weekend!
Another great video. I love how you and I keep coming up with the same ideas. I also do most of my cooking by weight. I wrote a computer program that you can input recipes in volume and it displays it step by step while cooking with the conversion already done. It really makes cooking much more efficient, and fewer dishes as well. Thanks so much, keep it up!
Great minds think alike 😃🙌 your software sounds wonderful and goes way beyond my old school technique! Is it web based? If so maybe you could host it somewhere and make some revenue off it using Adsense. That’ll be win win for sure. 😃. Thank you for your kind words and for watching. I hope you’re having a great weekend!
@@TheFrugalMinimalist Hi again Wendy! I can send you a copy of the software if you want. I was trying to find a way to message you and I'm not ashamed to say I'm not too youtube savvy, I couldn't find a way to send a message to you directly anywhere. If you're interested, shoot me an email at d.hollings.83@gmail.com. Sadly it's windows based software, I wish I had the foresight to make it web based instead. Hindsight being 20/20 and all!
I'm not YT savvy either 😂 I have a lot of issues organizing replies so I miss out on conversations unless I remember to search for them. There's got to be a better way and I'll find that way some day. I did remember to search for yours! I'll be sending an email your way. Thank you!!
Nice I’m so happy to hear that it worked for you too!! Thank you so much for letting me know. That made my day! Thank you for your very kind words and for watching. I hope you’re having a great weekend!
I’m glad to hear you enjoyed that tip, Judith! I hope it works as well for you as it does for us. Thank you for watching and I hope you’re having a great weekend!
Great tips ! I also like to time my tasks to know what I can do in the meantime. One thing I prefer to do though is using my kettle to boil water, I find it much quicker (and since we've got an electric cook top, I'd assume it's cheaper too..?). Glad I stumbled upon your channel :)
That is a great tip on the kettle, Nari! It seems like it should be cheaper than using an electric cook top, but I don't have either so I don't know 😰. I'm so glad you're here! Thank you for your great comment and I hope you have a great week!
Nice, Patti! They turn out darker than normal steamed potatoes but I think they taste great! I hope it works out as well for you as it does for us. Thank you for your kind words and for watching. I hope you’re having a great weekend!
I'm so happy to hear you liked those ideas, Money Mom! I hope you get to use them...with summer coming up, these really help keep the heat down in the home. In the summer I'll run my crock outside so we can keep eating those potatoes. 😂. Thank you so much for all your support! I hope you have a great evening and I'll see you tomorrow!
Timing the boil is a brilliant idea! I am very guilty of putting a pot on to boil and then walking away and getting distracted doing other things. If I had a time limit ahead of time that would save me a lot of mess!
I was guilty of that too, Shelly and this is the reason I started doing it. I needed something to bring me back to the stove 😂. I hope this works as well for you as it does for us. Thank you for watching and I hope you're having a great week!
I was online shopping for measuring cups I’m going to by a scale second hand now, I’m glad I watched this video before attempting to make chocolate chip 🍪 I always learn from you
I hope you do find that second hand scale, Maria! We bought ours new from either target or Walmart years ago and it was around 10-15 dollars. I don’t remember. But it’s about 14 years old now. Newer ones are probably better than ours and probably around the same price. Thank you for all your support and I hope you’re having a great weekend!
POTATOES: Wash, put in slow cooker, LOW HEAT for 7 - 8 HOURS 1) Is any additional water added to the slow cooker? 2) Do they stick to the bottom? 3) How long do the steamed potatoes last in the fridge? (can you tell I am not much of a cook?)
Hi! No additional water is needed and mine don’t stick to the bottom. I just wash mine and put them in the crock after just shaking the water off and they don’t stick to the bottom for me. They give off quite a bit of liquid and there’s usually water on the bottom after cooking. If it’s your first time doing it I’d check after 6 hours since I know crockpots run hotter than others. We’ve kept ours in the fridge for up to 5 days but we usually eat them all before then. 😂 happy cooking 😃
Also I don’t know if you could tell in the video, the flesh sometimes comes out a little dark due to the skins and the long cooking time but that’s normal and it’s tasty all the same
That is a great time saving tip I do that too but since I don't have a kettle I just use one pot 😅. Thank you for watching and I hope you're having a great weekend!
Just found your channel and I'm loving all the tips you share! I have used the pasta tip on lasagna and other baked noodles after seeing it on thekitchn but hadn't thought to use it for boiled pasta.
I’m happy to hear you enjoyed that idea! I definitely have that on my list of video ideas but not as much time to dedicate to YT as I’d like. I’ll be trying though!! Thank you for your kind words and for watching! I hope you’re having a great weekend!
Love the tips you shared! I like the crockpot potatoes. We like fried potatoes and oven roasted potatoes so precooking will save so much time. I'll try weighing ingredients. It takes time to find equivalents but in the end it's more accurate and as you said saves on dishes!
I'm so happy to hear you enjoyed the tips, Pat! I was a bit reluctant to share these tips because I know many do the keto diet these days and I wondered if anyone else still eats potatoes and pasta. 😅. The measuring does take time...there may also be tools online that are available to do the conversion of entire recipes! One viewer told me they wrote a program to do this, which I think is so great! Thank you for your very kind words and for watching! I hope you have a great week!
Hello 😊 I am visiting your channel on the recommendation from Vara ♡ I have loved watching your video here and will definatly be trying a few ideas! Thanks for sharing ♡
Hi Jacqui! Thank you so much for visiting me! I'm a fan of Vara's channel too. I hope the ones you try end up working out as well for you as they do for us. Thank you for your kind words and for watching. I hope you're having a great week!
It’s been years since I’ve been a student but this is a great idea! I’ll definitely be thinking about this more and see what I can come up with. I have several young people in my life and would love to have something to speak to them and give value. I’m happy you enjoyed the pasta tip! Thank you for your great suggestion and for watching. I hope you’re having a great weekend!
I’m so happy you liked that tip, Jen! It comes in handy for quick meals. I hope it works out as well for you as it does for us. Thank you for your kinds words and for watching. I hope you’re having a great weekend!
Great tips! I use my instant pot a lot, as it saves me a lot of time and effort. I love the tip on using the scale instead of measuring ingredients out individually and using many different measuring utensils, that is genius!
An instant pot sounds amazing, Tay. I’ve read and heard so many great things on this! I haven’t been able to justify the cost though and my slow cooker has been working so well I don’t have an excuse yet 😅. I do want one though! The scale is really helpful our is close to 14 years old now and still holding up great! Knock on wood! Thank you for your very kind words and for watching and I hope you’re having a great weekend! 😃
When I make pasta I just pour the pasta right into the cold water, cover and turn on high. As soon as the water starts boiling I turn the burner off and set the timer for the time the pasta should cook leaving the pot on the burner. It is always perfectly cooked according to the time doing it this way. Using residual heat. I also do the same thing with making rice.
Wow, I never knew you could do that with pasta, Sheri. I'll give that one a try for sure! I use the same method with rice cooking as well and it makes everything so easy. Thank you for your great tips and for watching. I hope you're having a great weekend!
I’m so glad to hear you like the soap!! So many uses! Thank you so much for letting me know! It makes me so happy. 🤗. I hope you’re having a great weekend!
We pressure cook pastas and is faster than pre soak . The time varies on the cooker and the type of pasta . Pressure cooking saves electricity and time. We cook grains , ( red rice , millets , broken wheat ) pre soaked lentils and legumes . The steam cooks the food faster and keeps the flavor. We even soak red rice so that it cooks faster in a pressure cooker. We eat rice for breakfast so this helps . Thank you
I’m glad that works so well for you! We don’t own a pressure cooker but are getting to borrow one. I hope to get to try out the awesomeness. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you, Missy for your very kind words and for watching. Many of the plants are regrown scraps I’m looking to pot soon. 😃 I hope you’re having a great weekend!
Hi Lara! I'm so happy to be able to introduce that to you. I hope it works out as well for you as it does for us! Thank you for your very kind words and for watching. I hope you're having a great week!
Awesome tips! Your pot cover handle, did you buy it to replace the existing? It sounds like it was whistling when it came to a boil. I have a senior parent that lives with me and that’d be helpful to have rather than buying a whistler kettle.
I'm happy to hear you enjoyed them! The pot cover came like that. I suppose it's a feature of the set. They're not the sturdiest since they're plastic but the whistling has been very useful for us! If you're interested, you can search "Maxam 9-Element Waterless Cookware Set" on Amazon to look and decide if they are good for your parent. It would definitely cost more than buying a whistler kettle though 😰
@@TheFrugalMinimalist Oh yes! I do most of what your are saying already~ but inverting the boxes and keeping pasta in water to use quickly and timing a water boil and so on are great ideas... not sure if I would go to shop at a store right before a holiday because of traffic, but hey early morning and nighttime are cool tips. You do know, of course, that you can go over the manager's head to their manager for markdowns if they are going to throw something out? I am not nasty but it drives me crazy when I see stuff going to be tossed. After all, I am paying for it. Let's see, what else? Um...Oh, here is one not sure if you have this~ If you puree a common spice mix such as turmeric, chili, ginger, garlic, and five seeds for curry, then you can freeze it in ice cube trays and take out the cubes as you like for quick use in stir fry/curries. Might could do with very strong perked coffee also then just nuke a cube if you have to run and want coffee, but not sure on that one. I have a bunch I found out too, but can't think of all of them. Do you make your own laundry soap? SUPER cheap, like a penny a load! Stop drain backups w simple homemade chains and hooks hanging down the drain/mesh bag secured there to catch hair and junk. Do you have a brick/glass jar in your toilet to lessen fillup costs since you are so concerned about water usage costs? You can grow ginger in your kitchen in a bucket. I never tried but read about it. If you run out of binders for your kids' scrapbooks, you can just use cardboard front and back covered w pretty paper and a pretty ribbon to hold them together. Oh yes, special bonus tip~ I almost forgot; since you love those holidays like I do and getting bargains, call your local pizza place or anywhere that takes orders for takeout food (esp around the Superbowl) and ask if they have any pizzas nobody picked up~ you have to get to know them bec they do have a right to get suspicious if you called the order in to get it that way in the first place, but after they get to know you, they will let you have a pizza that is really good that someone just forgot for ... say... well, I get them for a quarter, of course, Then you can eat them or freeze them. If you freeze them, just put a little water on them and nuke them right back to life. You can wrap ea slice individually if you want Love pizza for breakfast! I do order their specials, too, to keep on good terms w them. Hey, keep those videos coming! God bless!
@@TheFrugalMinimalist Couple more just came to me. You can give library books that are new looking as Christmas gifts as long as you trust the person will return it. Works best for family and such. Libraries are sorely underused. They have National Park Passes (that you otherwise have to pay parking and camping fees for) and art and even *gasp* Wilton cake pans, sometimes!

Then pay the balance and get the intro offer of 200-500 back. Like getting free utilities. Do you have majickjack for your landline?
Measuring scales are the norm here in Germany. I tried some recipes with cup measurements but it just feels weird to me, as I found it to be inaccurate at times 😅
OMG, your new channel, Padma! I just subscribed and I'll be catching up with you as I can. I'm so behind 😅. Thank you for your very kind words and support! I hope you're having a great week!
The Frugal Minimalist it's been a sad week, as my mum had a fall twice and injured herself. She's 78. I just feel sad to see her in pain. Anyways, I wish you a happy weekend, ma'am. Keep up the good work.
Thank you, Erica for your very kind words and support! Please forgive me I'm behind on videos but will be catching up soon! I hope you're having a great week!
Wow you’re serious with 3 of them, Jacalli! I love Jeff Yeager and think he’s a riot. I watch aarp YT videos just to watch him in all his punny glory 😂. Thank you for your kind words and for watching!! I hope you’re having a great weekend!
I'm a new subbie and want to thank you for sharing your tips, never thought of the pasta soaking trick; love it and will definitely try soon. I've heard this can be done with brown rice, but never tried-any tips you may have on cooking brown rice would be great :)
I must say we don't eat brown rice often, but I have also heard that soaking it will shorten the cook time. I also heard a weird thing to cook it like you would pasta in a large pot of water. I've not tried these before though so I can't say that they work. I'm glad to hear you liked the pasta trick and I hope it works out for you as well as it works for us! Thank you so much for your kind words and for watching. I hope you're having a great week!
Gosh...a blast from the past ❣️
I miss her and this channel so very much...
I learned so much going back and watching all of them

I have recently found your channel and am very much enjoying them. Mostly because your content is very specific and you get to it right away. You do a great job and the information is so helpful. My pet peeve is the people that like to introduce every episode for 5 minutes just because they like to hear themselves talk. So annoying! Keep it up and more videos please!!
OMG that is totally my pet peeve too!!! Try Money Mom too. She gets right to the point!! No babbling....
@Nancy Sahrakar - Yes Money Mom is where it's at 😍
Please excuse me as I left out how long to soak the pasta!
I never preboil the noodles - I put the raw pasta in with the sauce then about 1 C of water around the edges, cover and bake @ 400 for half hour, then uncover and bake 20 more minutes, comes out all soft, cooked, ready and yummy!
bags lay lannang babui..makan lagi babui tu lah kamu kena corona virus haha
The Frugal Minimalist I’m going to try out the pre-soak noodles
🙏 absolutely! There is so much waste and we try to eliminate where we can. It helps on many levels. Thank you for your kind words and for watching!
Your editing is fantastic. I really appreciate your work into making these super high quality videos. You have quickly become my favourite.
Thank you so much for noticing the work in the editing! It is a lot of work but I find it to be fun and am enjoying learning new things. Thank you again for your very kind, encouraging words and for watching. I hope you're having a great week!
I love to watch your channel. You have such a sweet and calming voice. You give great tips, too.
I'm happy to hear you enjoy the tips, Flynn 😃 Thank you for your very kind, encouraging words and for watching my channel!! I hope you're having a great week!
I agree, your my favorite minimalist.you too is the one who replies and create friendship to your follower.thank you.
Fantastic tip on the measurements of different ingredients without using various cups/ utensils. Thank you
I have already started going through our home to get rid of things that we do not need. Your videos let me know I still have more to get rid of. Thank you so much for your videos very inspiring and extremely helpful.
I'm so happy to hear that you can get some value from my videos! Thank you for your very kind, encouraging words and for watching. I wish you success in your journey!!
I so enjoy these videos and it proves you are never to old to learn! Have a great day!
I believe that whole heartedly, Kimberly! Thank you for your very kind words and for watching. I hope you’re having a great weekend! 😃
I love instant pot pressure cooking pasta, the presoak means I don’t have to break spaghetti into thirds, my husband will love this, thanks!
I liked your tips 😊. I also pre-soak lasagna noodles and they don't have to be cooked before assembling and baking the lasagna. Thanks for the ideas!
I'm so happy to hear you enjoyed them! Oooh nice tip on the lasagna noodles. We don't often make that but that's great to know for when we do! 😃
Yay! I'm so happy it is working well for you! Thank you so much for letting me know. I hope you are safe and well!
Thanks for this post. We just bought that same pasta on a trip and now I will be able to cook this quicker. I'll have to try the meat trick too. My kids love noodles and this will save me so much time.
How timely, Jennifer! I hope it works as well for you and your kids as it does for us! Thank you for watching and I hope you're having a great week!
Jeanne
Your video thumbnails are so spot on ,perfect. Keep up the good work. So much to learn from you.
Thank you for your kind words again! 🙏. I’m very behind in comments as you can tell 😅
I never though of soaking pasta! Great idea. Thank you
I’m happy to hear you enjoyed that idea, Joyce! Thank you for your kind words and for watching. I hope you’re having a great weekend!
You have the most practical tips! The potatoes in the crock pot are going into my weekly routine. You're brilliant with all of these ideas. Thank you!
@@TheFrugalMinimalist I love potatoes too - and taro! Thanks!
Wow I love the idea of baking while out but I must admit it scares me a little.
A big hug! M
Thank you my frugal friend. You rock. Keep up the awesome work 👌
Thank you, friend! You keep up the awesome work too! :)
Could you do a frugal kitchen tools video. You do a great job helping us to be better.
Thank you for another great tip! My niece actually has one she’s not using and loaned it to us. I’ll be trying it soon
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your videos! You always have fresh, unique ideas. I especially like how you challenge yourself.
Thank you, Rachel for your very kind and encouraging words and for watching. I’m so happy to be able to offer a different perspective! I hope you’re having a great weekend!
Ì love your videos. Your voice is so gentle and calming. Ì love it.
Time is the Essence & I’m thankful for your tips thanks
Hi Laura! I’m thankful to have you as one of my viewers!! 😍 thank you for your kind words and for watching!
I love your videos, you have such a soothing voice. I love the passive cooking idea.
I love that measuring scale!!
Oh, i like the pasta soaking thing. But I'd never add salt to the water because I like to use it for the garden and add some salt afterwards.
Thank you!!
Great tips! Thanks for taking the time to share.
Thank you, Tere for your kind words and taking the time to watch! I hope you have a great day!
I usually put pasta until it boils, with a little cooking oil & salt.well from time to time i check it & stir.
Your mind works just like mine....love it!
🙌 I love it too, Christine! I like how YT brings together like minded people 😃
What wonderful tips. Blessings, Jo Ann in Mississippi
I sure enjoy your easy deliberate way of doing these things. You are a delight.
Thank you, Cynthia for your very kind, encouraging words and for watching! I hope you're having a great week!
What great common sense tips that I didn't consider but will incorporate into my kitchen. Thank you!
I hope they work as well for you as they do for us, Martha! Thank you for your kind words and for watching. I hope you’re having a great weekend!
I tried the pasta trick just now out of curiosity and it actually worked out really well! Thank you so much for the tips!
Nice I’m so happy to hear that it worked for you too!! Thank you so much for letting me know. That made my day! Thank you for your very kind words and for watching. I hope you’re having a great weekend!
Where are you? I have missed your videos. Plz come back 💕
ive done that with potatoes before but boiled them that is so much easier .what a great tip!
I’m glad to hear you enjoyed that tip, Judith! I hope it works as well for you as it does for us. Thank you for watching and I hope you’re having a great weekend!
Interesting and useful tips. Thank you for sharing!
Wow using the scale is genius!
Wow great tips!! I am going to try the potatoes in the crock pot for sure.
Nice, Patti! They turn out darker than normal steamed potatoes but I think they taste great! I hope it works out as well for you as it does for us. Thank you for your kind words and for watching. I hope you’re having a great weekend!
Your ideas are incredible. I especially love the slowcooker one for potatoes and the pasta cooking on. Thank you so much.
I'm so happy to hear you liked those ideas, Money Mom! I hope you get to use them...with summer coming up, these really help keep the heat down in the home. In the summer I'll run my crock outside so we can keep eating those potatoes. 😂. Thank you so much for all your support! I hope you have a great evening and I'll see you tomorrow!
do you like hot weather
Pre-soaked pasta tip is brilliant!!
I'm glad to hear you liked that one! I hope it works as well for you as it does for us!
POTATOES:
Wash, put in slow cooker, LOW HEAT for 7 - 8 HOURS
1) Is any additional water added to the slow cooker?
Also I don’t know if you could tell in the video, the flesh sometimes comes out a little dark due to the skins and the long cooking time but that’s normal and it’s tasty all the same
Would like to see how you use your containers you save and how you store them? Love your videos Wendy!
Thank you for the great video idea, Amy! I will definitely be adding that to my list. Thank you so much for all your kind words and support!
We boil water in the kettle for all cooking, thus saving fuel.
I really love the crock pot idea. I would love some more of them.
Great info! I'm gonna use my scale more
New sub here, wow I loved this video thank you for all of the work put into it!
Could you do tips for students and how they can save time and money?
The pasta tip was really insightful.
Thanks
Love the content
Keep it coming :D
It’s been years since I’ve been a student but this is a great idea! I’ll definitely be thinking about this more and see what I can come up with. I have several young people in my life and would love to have something to speak to them and give value. I’m happy you enjoyed the pasta tip! Thank you for your great suggestion and for watching. I hope you’re having a great weekend!
WOW....great tips! I saved this to refer to again. My favorite tip is the pasta one and I can't wait to try it.
@@TheFrugalMinimalist Thank you! I need to get better about making impulse buys! It's killing my wallet.
Very good job doing your videos. Thanks
I got me some zote soap and love it. My husband is going to go back and get me more. It $1.19 here at our Wal-Mart. Thanks so much.
We miss you! Hope you are well 🌅

Great tips and hacks! The food looked so good! Love your plants or herbs! 😊💖👍
Thank you, Missy for your very kind words and for watching. Many of the plants are regrown scraps I’m looking to pot soon. 😃 I hope you’re having a great weekend!
Just shows that you can learn new tricks at any age
I'm a big believer of that, Sharon 😃. Thank you so much for watching and I hope you're having a great week!
Wow, very efficient indeed!
I had to learn the hard way as the alternatives weren’t desirable. 😂 Thank you for your kind words and for watching. I hope you have a great day!
Multiple tips that I'll use today!
I'm so happy to hear! I hope they work as well for you as they do for us!
that pasta tip.... just blew my mind....
😃 Happy cooking! 🍝
Thanks for sharing and i was wondering what kitchen scale you have ?!
How much water do you put in crock for steamed potatoes?
Wow great tips ! I had never heard f pre-soaking pasta. That’s brilliant ! Best wishes from Australia xx ps I love your voice.
Ilove this channel glad I found it thank you🌷
Welcome! Thank you, I’m so glad you’re here 😃
I love your tips. Watching my fourth video of yours and will watch more! Thanks for these so much:)
Wow, thank you so much for watching so many of my videos! I think that's the highest compliment you can give a YTer. 😃
@@TheFrugalMinimalist I have to keep starting a new thread because of my computer but... get one of those 500-3000 credit card offers and pay off your utilities for a year on the card if you can. Then pay the balance and get the intro offer of 200-500 back. Like getting free utilities. Do you have majickjack for your landline?
Very good tips and clearly explained. Thanks a lot
Thank you for your very kind words and for watching! I hope you have a great week!
Measuring scales are the norm here in Germany. I tried some recipes with cup measurements but it just feels weird to me, as I found it to be inaccurate at times 😅
Awesome video and tips !! 👍👍👍😍😍😍
OMG, your new channel, Padma! I just subscribed and I'll be catching up with you as I can. I'm so behind 😅. Thank you for your very kind words and support! I hope you're having a great week!
I appreciate you 💐 for sharing these tips with us. Thank you ma'am.
The pleasure is all mine! Thank you, Oma for your very kind words and for watching. I hope you're having a great week!
The Frugal Minimalist it's been a sad week, as my mum had a fall twice and injured herself. She's 78. I just feel sad to see her in pain. Anyways, I wish you a happy weekend, ma'am. Keep up the good work.
*HUGS* Oma, I'm so sorry to hear about your mom. I wish her a full and speedy recovery!! 💕🙏
The Frugal Minimalist thank you ma'am 🙏🏽💕
You always have the best tips!
Thank you, Erica for your very kind words and support! Please forgive me I'm behind on videos but will be catching up soon! I hope you're having a great week!
Awesome tips! Love the crockpot too, I have 3 of them. If you haven't heard of Jeff Yeager he has great ways to save money and he is hilarious!
Wow you’re serious with 3 of them, Jacalli! I love Jeff Yeager and think he’s a riot. I watch aarp YT videos just to watch him in all his punny glory 😂. Thank you for your kind words and for watching!! I hope you’re having a great weekend!
Great ideas!
Love your idea of not using measuring cups!
I'm happy to hear you liked that one, Yollande! Thank you for watching and I hope you have a great week! :)
